Dr. Kannan From SJMC is very good. He's patient and provides clear explanations. He used to be a professor in UM.

Agreed. My father has been seeing him about 15 years now. He's also seen my uncles ; heart disease is genetic in my dad's family.

Quite standard price for SJMC. First time see I think is about RM200, just for consultation. Excludes tests, procedures and medicines.

Hi,
is he the "everything must test" type, or the go-slowly and be patient type?
I mean, there're doctors who, in the beginning recommends all sorts of intrusive test, and prescribe strong medication,
while there are doctors who, will start from mild, observe, and slowly go for it, recommending the natural way, and patient.

The observe type of doc. My dad cannot layan the intrusive testing; he's been known to lose patience at that type of doctor haha. This Dr Kannan is a very mellow doc; seems nice and knows his stuff.

An experience to share:
I had chest pain that lasted for 2 weeks already, on and off, upper left side. Not sharp pain but dull at times and sometimes to the shoulder.I have a history of hypertensive bp which is above 160/110 and now on medication.
Dr initially asked for lipid blood tests/ kidney/liver tests. Upon hearing all these chest pains, another blood test was done called troponin test for signs of heart attack. Also did ECG. Luckily it all came out negative. I don't know what causes pain but it is definitely not heart attack. It cost me less than RM500 at SD Ara Damansara.
If you guys have chest pains, it is better to check it out rather than to stress yrself all these while.

Do you still experience any pain now?

I did experience some sort of pressure like my upper left chest was slowly compressed with a vice grip...not painful but annoying a few months back. nowadays i dont feel any funny sensation anymore but i blame it on the food/poor posture while sitting or sleeping or maybe stress. I got annoying feel in my sternum everytime i eat very salty/fatty food like lamb chop or cheese omelette. Sometimes made worse by intense gaming right after lunch/dinner. Years of unhealthy habit will eventually blocked my arteries...lol. Once i got some annoying feel, aches & pains i try to get up & exercise, perhaps lack of blood circulation..and the discomfort vanished.

I still never get them checked until to this day....im afraid of the diagnosis or its probably nothing.

Still got dull pain and since it is confirmed it is not heart attack, I am kinda relieved. I supposed it is some muscular spasms.
Perhaps the only thing I got from this is I have elevated triglycerides, so it is treadmill time.
Chest pains is something you do not want to ignore particularly when it spread to your arms and jaws.
