well well well, the ultimate questions for ppl who is wondering about changing to vista.

in my case, its just a matter of want to and not have to. i'm kinda of a gadget freak, so new stuff comes out ofcourse i wana use it, it gives a kind of self satisfaction.
what i think u and all of the people should do, go get urself a vista trial (can be downloaded easily) if u find urself doing as good as or better than xp, why not go get the full version. but if u think u can live with xp for like another 9months for SP1 and thinkin about changin to vista everyday, then continue live with xp.

about the compatibility issues, not everyone is facing it extremely, just browse around and u can mostly overcome it. i have been usin vista ultimate for a month now and not regretting a little bit. heck when i use xp now i feel a little underpowered. no offence to xp users tho.

if u want to share a folder in vista, try the following steps. (before that, you MUST be able to see your vista pc from your winxp pc eg. both of them must be in the same workgroup)

1. go to control panel > network and sharing center
2. make sure file sharing is turn on and password protected sharing is off
3. right click on the folder that you wanted to share
4. click on share
5. on the drop down menu, choose Everyone (if you don't have that, create one), then Add
6. then click share
7. right click on the same folder, click properties
8. go to the tab Sharing
9. click Advanced Sharing
10. tick on Share this folder
11. click on Permissions
12. you should be able to see Everyone in the group and usernames box
13. tick full control for that group
14. then apply

it should work...post any problems you may find...

err.. manually type their ip address into the run box?

example

\\192.168.0.1

u should be able to access their comp then

Quoted from windows help & support
to open network, just go computer and look at the box besides it, theres a network icon there

[attachmentid=213273]

EDIT
ish.. my bad.. didnt notice this.. ignore the above post

i know what u meant...sharing files between 2 or more comps...i know...

i'm sharing my files between my comp and another winxp comp also...through wifi

those are the steps i follow and no problem so far...

and you will be able to view each other's shared files via the comp name shown in either my network place in xp and network in vista

you wouldn't need to locate the address of the other comp if all the settings between comp are correct.

if ur using pirated copy, u CANNOT do windows update! i've been using it for sometime already. oh not to mention that mine is an OEM copy of vista ultimate though.

and the problem is already been solved. smile.gif

well. i sure know what im talking about. because thats what usually happen when u got pirated copy.

but u know what...

nice HACKS u got there for ur vista!! laugh.gif

im not like u, pirated user.

p/s: since ur using WAREZ copy, u better stop talking about it.

its not like i wana talk abought warez copy or what not, just that i proved you wrong and u seems not happy about it. swt. even in xp the "this is not genuine copy of windows xp" thing can be disabled and still run windows update. so uhm get ur facts right by googling before posting stuff which are half true. "im not like u, pirated user." wtf man, so ur telling me u never bought pirated vcd before? and never downloaded any music of videos online thru p2p? they're all illegal and copyrighted same as windows.

But then again, if ur using 4GB, you can't use 32bit OS as it only supports up to 3GB. and it will be a lot of wastage as you'r not usually utilising all of the RAMs that you have anyways, unless you're running a server multitasking all teh times
*
haha lol i was just scaring mickey away XD

and uhm regarding the ram, if i'm not mistaken it will use full 4gb but just that in the system it will show 3gb instead, no? and wat do u use that will take up 4gb?!?!? open 5 games together?!?!? fifa + nba + cs + maple + dota + some hentai games????
