is Vista quite stable now? My rig is old:

P4 631 3.0 Ghz
2 Gig DDR2 667 RAM
Aopen Nvidia 6600 256MB DDR2
160 GB HDD
250 GB HDD

Will vista ultimate (i only have this edition - got it free) runs smoothly or at least my rig will survive?

My pakteh bought it last week (RM670) at Seremban..but then he bought another computer..apple mac I think. So I asked him if I could use it temporary.. but luckily he said " Ko amik jela guna" smile.gif So happy lo save my money.

I tested the advisor program and it advised me vista business (but I only have ultimate). Hopefully my rig will run it smoothly..

Will buy another C2D PC this sept. or should save money and upgrade proc to Pentium D instead?

I am using W.V HOME BASIC now..
RAM is 1GB [512MB cannot load the OS very fast, which is min requirement is 512MB]

I am plan to switch to W.V ULTIMATE, this version need at least 1GB RAM.. What do u think? should i upgrade the RAM again? it is e'nuff for 1GB or more?
*
I think 1Gb is the minimum & should be enough. But 2GB or more is considered to run Vista ultimate smoothly as Vista uses the memory more efficient than XP.

Have u try the vista advisor before upgrading? Coz the program can advise on some hardware or software/drivers in your rig that might have problem or 'issue' when upgrading to vista.

Sound card I dunno..but from what I read on the net & forums, some may face a soundcard driver issue with vista.

with my rig capability if i run ultimate, will it be less performance or normal ?

Yup..2Gb RAM will make vista ultimate smoother. I use vista ultimate on my old Pentium 4 631 3Ghz..and runs smooth.

When I ran disk cleanup for my C drive, i found out that "Per used queued Window Error Report" and "System queued Window Error Report" getting larger and larger. So, can I delete it actually? Seems like it is somethg related to the "Program error solution", worry that it may cause the system unstable if i delete it. wink.gif

Woo..I deleted this files before coz I dont realized earlier on the message 'you can free up to 102 GB etc" on C:\ when my C;\ is just 50 GB. Then all of my vista configurations, shortcuts, some system files etc are gone! Tried to reboot but no success. Then I have to re-install. Well this is my experienced after deleting those files. Anyway, I still dont know what is the function of this 'system/user per queued files' for.

(maybe those files are left unticked by default for a reason when system cleanup finised analyzed.)
