Guys.. my cousin somehow have received a free Vista Ultimate (dunno how he get it.. something to do with MMU or so he said)...

So since he already have Vista in his PC.. he gives it to me after I.. well.. beg him for it.

Currenly my PC is running Windows XP (ofcourse larr.. tongue.gif ). So I wanted to test Vista out.. but someone else here recommended me to do dual-booting instead.

I always have the impression that Dual-Booting is bad for PC and gaming (might be a myth inside my brain though)... so here I wanted clarification... first... will dual-boot my PC (both Vista and XP) have any side effect like lag or whatever to my PC and particularly.. gaming.

And second... how to perform the dual-boot??

Cheh again... aye~... nevermind la... Business is ok too LOL

As long as it is original and most important... FREE... well.. at least until the deadline...

======================

Can we buy OEM Vista?? I'm quite blur about this OEM thingy... so I figure if can... I might as well get an OEM Vista Ultimate rather than retail Home Premium.

Becoz I heard OEM is only supplied with a new computer like DELL, ASUS and so on... hmm.gif

For what I know, OEM will only can be activated in 1 computer, so in case u change to a new computer, the OS cant be activated in ur new computer. Meanwhile, retail version can still be activated in the new computer... Wish u get what i mean... tongue.gif

Correct me if I'm wrong. notworthy.gif

Means that... if I change my motherboard... the OEM is useless already... right??

Dmn... that means the right option is still retail... and that really cost a bomb... sweat.gif sad.gif

Just wondering though... might be a stupid question... but I never tested and try it so I didn't know.

When I change my proc and motherboard... is it okay if I didn't reformat my Vista. And just boot in like that??? Or it is necessary to reformat everything again.

This is getting annoying...

I want to save multiple wallpapers from the internet.

In XP if I save from 10 pictures from the same website... say My Picture\Allure\Wallie.. then for the first picture I will navigate it from My Picture to Allure to Wallie using browse option and save it there.

The when I click save for the next 9 pictures.. it will straight away open in My Picture\Allure\Wallie so I can save pictures a lot faster.

However in Vista... even when I browse to Pictures\Allure\Wallie and save my picture there... I still have to navigate to Pictures\Allure\Wallie through browse option for the next 9 pictures which really annoys me.

Any possible solution for this?? I don't like the idea of navigating to each folder in Pictures folder one by one even if I'm saving pictures from the same websites.

Had you guys try out the DreamScene from Windows Ultimate Extra already? If not, GO TRY IT NOW !!!!!!

I jsut installed this morning via Windows Update and I never bother open it. Jsut now I am quite bore and I try on it, OH MY GOD IT'S SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL !!!!!

It's like full motion dekstop background in movie format. UNlike the old one we have in XP which is like fram by frame and eat out lots of CPU power. This one Microsoft claims that new technology will allow much better quality (YES IT'S) animated background WITHOUT consuming too much CPU resource. YAY now my background is a little waterfall, so beeeeeeaaaaaaatufuuuuuuuul !!!!! rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif

I always wonder.. what is you PC spec?? Using Dreamscene and still can play CnC without lag blink.gif ..

My PC... just use the Dreamscene and suddenly browsing pictures in ACDsee feels kinda laggy already... doh.gif

Aiks Pheonix I told you in C&C3 thread edi lor. But DS will automatically get paused if I do anything full screen. And also when I unplug my power (Can resume it back anyway).

Anyway Pheonix I'm using hp lappy, DV9205tx. The spec is Duo Core  T7200 2.0Ghz, 2Gb rams and G-Card is Go7600. (aiks.... the G-card not the top model one...)

*
doh.gif I forgot the fact that DS shut it self down when open games... you told me that one before.. doh.gif

And yup.. you also told me you are using Laptop but didn't tell me the spec except the ram which is in the windows vista experience thread... sweat.gif

Or.. em.. maybe I missed that one.. hmm.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

But I think it automatically stop lar, I have no issue playing any heavy 3D games with DC on. And what I notice is, when I open up something full screen. Since Vista's effect is like 3D and will show the windows being extended to entire screen, I can cearly see the DC getting paused at behind.
*
I think my Vista screw up on me again... just like what it did before I reformat... shakehead.gif

oh well.. it's not like I'm dying to use the DreamScene anyway... still waiting for the more astonishing wallie as my DC. nod.gif

Again... it really depends on your rig config. However, looking at your rig config, it seems OK. Maybe increasing your ram to 2 GB would help increase your performance by leaps and bounds > while you're at it, why not even try 4 GB  thumbup.gif
*
Yup... my rig do gives me lots of trouble in Vista... at first I'm thinking of upgrading my ram to 2GB -> RM300 onli... but suddenly decided to upgrade my whole system to C2D... now already spend RM4500 for it. Still waiting some stuff before can fully assemble it though...

Let see... while I am at it.. why not upgrade to 4GB rite??

Tell me... using Vista 32-bit... will I really benefitted from using 4GB RAM?? Coz if I'm not mistaken.. onli 64-bit has support of more than 2GB... anyone can clarify me on this??

I can see your have a good rig for vista, enough ram and strong G-card. Is that anything wrong with the vista you install?
*
I think my Vista installation do have something to contribute to this. First time install... some program didn't work as hoped and I can't connect to any mIcrosoft site. Then I reformat and up until now no problem except the DreamScene thingy which I wasn't sure whether it is becoz of whether my Vista has some problem or DreamScene is intended to act like that... but there is nothing wrong with anything else in my Vista for now...

just bcoz wanna change os?..kinda expensive thing to waste for.

Hm?? Not really... I would rather consider it as an investment for Core 2 Duo. At any rate I'm getting 8800GTS anyway and as you can see from my signature... using a 8800GTS on that kind of setup isn't... that good. The bottleneck thingy and everything... so I didn't see it as a waste of money as I do enjoy the rig even on XP (yeah.. S.T.A.L.K.E.R and F.E.A.R. on its highest setting do sound delicious to me)
