Guys, do you all notice something, a top end computer running with Vista is not as fast as I expect, atleast the respond time is a bit, erm... like normal comp with windows only..... My spec is duo core t7200, 2.0 Ghz and 2 GB of ddr2 rams. 320 Gb hdd. It's a brand new laptop and looks like when I swtich on the laptop it still took atleas 1 min fully startup (Unlike win XP with 1Gb or ram, duo core 1.8Ghz took around 30 second)

Anyway Now the main problem is my OS is Vista Ultimate 64 bit version, which causing me a big problem while play game....lots of them can't install or play.... sad.gif
*
2GB ram is just meet the standard requirement of vista.(regrardless wat they say 1G is enuf.
The more u use vista the faster the system will work.
but this aint come cheap as the hardware need better requirement.(maybe 4G ram)
wat is your index score?

I think the best is you wait for new patch for your game.or better get a 32bit? biggrin.gif

since you comparing with xp..
here some reviews:
http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/01/29/xp-...r_windows_vista

i got no problem with vista...if for normal usage la...surf, movie, mp3...etc tec
but for work/game...i rather use xp for the time being.

Added on May 28, 2007, 2:03 pmjust found out tht vista is wrapping all the audio driver n run it on OS...which mean Microsoft removal the hardware audio abstraction layer for Vista

http://www.creative.com/press/releases/welcome.asp?pid=12683

1st, since there is a hardware sound card processing, why the hell bother the CPU to process? I personally think this is not a wise choice.

2nd Does it mean the MS trying to monopoly the sound card market too?

about the problem i encounter...i need to turn of my sound card enhanced features...at control panel>sound props

wow......
So much agenda behind the sound card..
but so far i havent encounter any problem with sound card..for game too

creative still insist using their own driver instead of Vista
no reason to buy creative if cannnot use the feature and need to follow vista standard.

no need to update the driver... all u need to do is to turn off the hardware enhanced features."disable all..." need to allow the vista to use their driver only.(my case atleast)

for the creative user u can snatch the vista driver by using creative ALchemy software.
this software will allow the driver rights given back to creative's.

MS own the world.... rclxms.gif rclxub.gif notworthy.gif

Someone please help me. I am using Windows Vista Ultimate Retail Full 32-Bit Version. I got all the drivers installed such as the video and sound driver. Then I downloaded Halo Trial from Microsoft. When I installed it and tried to play it there is sound but the sound is cracking (there are skips in between each sound), its like my computer is lagging but it's not. I downloaded the latest drivers from ASUS also because I am using the sound card that is intergrated with the motherboard. My motherboard is P4P800 and the sound driver is Soundmax Audio Driver. I tried installinh the game on the same PC but on Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 with all the same hardware configuration and it works perfectly with perfect soung. Please note: I have multiple O/S on one system. Thanks in advance.
*
u need to close your sound hardware enhancement.
i think tht will do..
ASUS driver wont a thang
the reason u having this problem is tht the VISTA is forcing everyone to follow their "so call AUDIO standard"...the VISTA is not using your SoundMAX Audio Driver.VISTA is using their own.
so dont even bother to update your driver. go to sound props then turn off your hardware sound enhancement...cheers! welcome to best buggy vista.

and tht is your soundcard..u shud google bf you post.shud i just post "update your driver la"?..u wont knw why the problem exist rite?

so after update your driver..u still got any cracking/lag not?

sorry i am not going to lick as s and saying how good/bad...if it is bad then i will say it is bad.if it is good then i will say it is good.

The Audio Standard are basically the extention of the AC'97. thus it's developed by Intel, and not Microsoft. Microsoft only added Firewire and USB 2.0 default support to that standard
*
AC97 is a codec.
device driver...not codec.

SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio

Microsoft Windows Vista build 5308 uses Windows Update (herein called WU) to get the latest drivers for the SoundMAX chipset. These drivers stutter, hiss, snap, crackle, and pop, nonstop and do not have support for digital audio. This is an improvement over 5270 where you had to find your own drivers, AND it was impossible to get digital audio.

1. Download these drivers and extract them to a folder somewhere with WinZip.
2. Open Device Manager (Control Panel | System | Hardware | Device Manager) find the entry for the SoundMAX, and update its driver with the one in the \SMAXWDM\W2K_XP\ directory that you just extracted.
3. Restart your computer.
4. Open Control Panel | Audio Settings | SoundMAX | Properties. In the 'Other' tab uncheck the first entry and check the second for digital audio. If you have analog speakers, leave both unchecked.
5. If sound quality is not that great, try changing the Format settings in that last tab on the page. Try going up or down until it works out.... I have this card and was quick to replace it... Time to get a new sound card if you are still having issues sad.gif
6. Vista will tell you that Windows Update has found newer drivers. Ignore it or you'll lose the sound!

He ask about the speed, which is not much difference between Safari and IE, even tho IE has advantage rendering more difficult or highly coded page while safari shines in simple pages rendering. For me, I prefer IE7 as it's more stable and the sandbox mode is quite good. My sis insist she installed FF on my PC and the next thing I knew, my PC was infected. Seems that somehow an addon script she used disabled my antiSpyware and firewall.  vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif

i m trying out safari...so far so good.(not much functions...simply the best?)
as they said...dont simply install any script.
wat kinda of internet protection u use?
