i just installed Vista Home premium 32bit edition,OEM

when i choose to slide show my pictures,the pc restart by itself

then i try to open mp4 file using media centre,then it restart again

my monitor brightness becomes low,very dim compared to before

what is the problem causing it?thanks

err why those icon at dekstop so big even i set display to 1024x768 ..

Are using Ati with CC ver 7.3? It was reported that this version of Ati CC could post problems in Vista.

How about CS3?i juz got the installer and not yet install lol..

btw which Antivirus would be compatible and stable with Vista ?

Thinking of getting a new Notebook with vista preloaded.

The problem is, no matter wad brand, Sony, HP, Compaq, Toshiba or bla bla i try so far, they run damn slow on preloaded Vista even the spec is C2C 1.66Ghz with 1Gb ram. The windows boot up and shut down is slow like snail even my p4 HT with XP can beat it kau kau one.. So actually wad wrong with those notebook preloaded Vista?

Windows ReadyBoost is a great technology, caching things on USB drives to improve system performance, but Windows Vista insists on checking the drives for certain speed requirements before enabling the feature. If you have a USB drive that is just a hair to slow to beat the test, or you want to use an external hard drive (slower speed, loads of cache space), Matt Rajca posts at Channel 9 how you can force Vista to let you use ReadyBoost on an unsupported device, whether it wants to or not:

1. Plug in the device.
2. Open the Readyboost tab on the device properties.
3. Select "Do not retest this device"
4. Unplug the device
5. Open regedit (start->run->regedit)
6. Expand - HKLM (Local Machine)->SOFTWARE->Microsoft->Windows NT->CurrentVersion->EMDgmt
7. Find your device.
8. Change Device Status to 2
9. Change ReadSpeedKBs to 1000
10. Change WriteSpeedKBs to 1000
11. Plug in the device.
12. Enable Readyboost!!!!

hmm..mayb can make it higher gua..i think the main thing is the device status..

the speed should not be a factor..coz current hardware is memang not fast enough?? but a slight boost better than no boost ma..

perhaps only the registry key for device status thats stopping drives from being used..

btw..only one cache can be used at 1 time..
i set my ext usb 2.0 drive to 2gb..lolz

i try setting at 10000..still working..hehe

Not much difference but in gaming, you will see huge difference as well as doing video editing in Vista. When i first upgrade to Vista Ultimate OEM, i have 1GB and i run 5 applications : photoshop, illustrator, flash, dreaamweaver and firefox. There is no slow down on my AMD 3000+ 1GB with 7600GT.

Once i upgraded to 2.5 GB, only difference i get to feel is the speed of application loading and the less usage of virtual memory.
Addition note : windows key + tab = 3d flip task selection. Just use it like how you do it with alt + tab

correction, nVidia have all stable and beta drivers for Vista. You have to scroll sightly more downwards to see Vista 32 and 64 selection. For beta driver, click on the link top most of the drivers page.

What's the different between Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate ?
I got Business for free so thinking to try it out  but wish to know what's the different 1st

i had this same problem loading it on Vista too....so i just uninstalled it.

during the install, i saw the word Media Player classic somewhere in the process. does it mean it will change the WMP interface back to the old version? 

No la, you can still play RM and RMVB files even if you don't install MPC. MPC is just a stripped down and lighter version of WMP. You just need the Real Alternative codec installed to make RM and RMVB files run. Don't believe me? Drag RM files into your WMP and it can play just fine.     
    Home basic IS useless. You basically need Home Premium. Who in the right mind buys Home Basic?
and what do you mean from "there is no downgrade right for Vista Home". Either you grammar is wrong or my eyes is deceiving me

i'm currently on Vista Business and would like to upgrade to Vista Ultimate? any significant differences that might make it worth the upgrade?
