Hey guys,
As the subject suggests, want to purchase a 2nd phone just for me to use while working offshore. Currently, I'm using an iPhone 6 plus & the WiFi reception sucks. Sometimes I live at an accommodation vessels/barge & sometimes at LQ on a platform or rigs. Most of my colleagues uses android phones, some has really good WiFi reception but mostly my iphone sucks at that. So based on usage, experiences which brand & model would you guys suggests?
Thanks.

why not asking your colleagues ? they know better than us. most smartphone review site on the net never testing wifi receptions. they all talking about soc, camera, some benchmark here and there.

True but basically their answer is mostly, "boleh lah", "ok lah" nothing really convincing. From observation though, brands like Lenovo, Asus & other android based brands. Anyways, thanks. This is one of the reason why I left apple. Just saying. In your case, maybe you can start by asking your colleagues what models are they using and do gour research.

Anyways, found the 2 most recommended brands, Xiaomi or Oppo.

After testing out so many brands, imo Huawei has an edge in wifi reception. My old huawei mate 7/8 has better wifi reception compared to my other phones

Well, after much research & asking around while on duty found this brand which is freaking powerful. Surprisingly powerful.
Neffos X1 Lite. 4G reception in Miri waters (not going to mention the field) & really good wifi reception. So good that more than 10 personnel bought it or ordered it & used it as hotspots.
Anyways, just like to share the findings. Lol.

Secondly it's either Digi or U Mobile or maybe something else nowadays. Offshore with the WiFi Calling is 🔥.
To receive TAC and OTP when offshore is 🔥.

Recently I've brought both my iPhone 6s+ and Poco F2 Pro.. both in my cabin, the Poco F2 Pro gets a lot better reception and better switching between the different connections that has better reception. iPhone reception just sucks. The poco just rules in getting good connectivity for WhatsApp video calls, YouTube, insta and FB.
