I personally don't see what's wrong with net spend though. Net spend is a good judge of how much you added to your squad.

For example: Selling Coutinho for 100M and buying 100M worth of player(s) whether it's one or multiple that add up to 100. You are still losing 100M worth of quality in Coutinho and the 100M you bought might not even make up for it as we've after seeing clubs sell star players like us with Suarez and Spurs with Bale. On the other hand, if we can keep Coutinho who is worth 100M and bring in player(s) for a total of 100M, I'm sure that's the squad we would much rather have.
