QUOTE(Taipan1 @ Jul 22 2007, 10:39 AM) Hi Everyone Yah... this is the first time I have heard kangaroo meat in glider food... normally seen in dogfood. The smell is weird.... doesn't smell interesting. I'll try and get a container and see if gliders do eat.... if they don't well, hamsters will eat it too hahahah...Kangaroo Meat as a glider food............ interesting as kangaroo meat is very nice & very lean ie not much fat. Hun / anyone if you get a chance can you tell me who & where this "holistic glider food " is made. the percentage of protein seems very low as the mix ( liquid part ) that Australian zoos use has a protein percentage of 52%. I might try & contact some people in Australia & see what the latest mix is over there. But yah, 25% protein is a bit low. |

We sweat, our sweat contains excess salt and minerals which is nice to taste.... you try and lick your hand, it taste salty.... naturally in between our toes, fingers got more moisture, so gliders sometimes like to lick.

Please do not ask who sell and where to buy..... just search in Garage Sales.
Also, do read and plan before buying. Most of us in this forum are dedicated glider keepers and we do not like it when people buy on impulse.... alot of people who bought coz cute in the end resell it coz do not know how to take care or complain about glider behaviour. There is much to learn. |

QUOTE(sense_less143 @ Jul 26 2007, 02:51 PM) lol Hmmmm.... I know puppies twitch during sleep.... that's a sign that they are dreaming. Well, if he doesn't do it when he is awake, should be no problem. Maybe he is dreaming after all.I cant exactly describe how he twitches, but he only does it, as far as I know, in his sleep (his eyes were closed). Otherwise he's vey healthy. I'm just asking if this is not normal behaviour lah. Some gliders are not the playful kind.... you can always finger wrestle.... or play "toss the glider" Hahahah. |

I think you did not read the forum rules. Asking for sales and buying not allowed here. We are warning you based on rules.
You want to learn, then learn. We are all advising. I did not say do not get a glider. I just advice you to read and plan before buying. Do not jump on impulse and learn. Did I say do not buy???? highlight for me where did I say you are not allowed to buy. |

QUOTE(krynzpeaches @ Jul 27 2007, 09:46 AM) Hun, just a lil update, remember that I told you Iggy & Luna's poo was kindda soft when I start giving them the mix with the pumpkin? I think it went on for a few days only, then their poo was okay back... I think mebbe at first they weren't use to it... Anyhow, I still want the other mix cuz they eat a lot nowadays Ohhh.... new for them I guess hahaha.Hmm, eating something too sweet can cause diarrhea huh?? I love to give them sweet-sweet fruits I'll list down the fruits that I've given so far and some comments after I've compile 'em for cross reference KP Yah, I read it at 1 website.... they said that diarrhea could also come from foods that are too sweet or very high in sugars. Maybe if we give once a while is ok.... but I think fruit sugars is nothing. More like honey.... coz I remember I gave joeys honey before, they had diarrhea.... stop the honey and no diarrhea. This is why I do not include honey in my mix loh. QUOTE(cheaka @ Jul 27 2007, 11:50 AM) Cost me RM50 - with 2 assistants and 2 doctors to look at him...... Frodo Frodo, get well soon!!! Added on July 27, 2007, 11:53 amJust an update on Frodo, his appetite had picked up very well especailly on mealworms, at least 10 or more day... and i noticed he has been drinking more water too...but his body still look very weak...but still very very active with his black colour backside... still got a bit of diarhoea......will monitor him more till end of this week and see how's his progress...luckily he is not fussy with the medication from the doctor...he seems to take it very well....and easy to feed him with just a drop of the medication. I think they include corn syrup or sugar into the medication for this is similar to antibiotics for birds that I got from AMC long ago. QUOTE(sense_less143 @ Jul 27 2007, 08:41 PM) Good boy! Yes, separate the seed coz most fruit seeds are toxic to small animals.... I have no idea if it the rambutan seed is toxic to gliders or not but I do know that the branches are toxic to sugar gliders and can make them giddy or sick if chewed.Btw, now I always give wasabi rambuta also. Is it necessary to seperate the seed and the flesh? |

Sigh... petshops.... stressing out the poor gliders.... this is the biggest mistake they are making. But what to do? All also looking for sales.... all want to generate interest so that people would buy them.
The advice the staff gives are always wrong. I heard once that they just say eat apples, oats, mealworms and dogfood.... some even say nestum(not pet safari but others)..... A pity. |

QUOTE(krynzpeaches @ Jul 30 2007, 10:19 AM) Sense_less, it has been mentioned before that any fruit seed that we cannot eat, remove them before giving the fruit to your glider. And yes, it is better to give any fruit flesh in small grab sizes for your glider, this means that all fruits must be cut into small pieces because the like to grab and go their food. Honey is heaty? I thought only Durian hahah....Lance, no lah, the suggie pool of knowledge is not done by me Hun, from what I know lah, people say that honey is actually heaty, you know like how people say durians are heaty. That's why I guess honey not so good to give to glider especially in raw form... Yeah, I also saw the joeys at PS. Bumped into CFP there Ohh, and yes, the cage is very small, appx. the size that CFP stated... KP It's sickening to see PS doing such things to joeys... but then what can we do? Small people, not our petshop.... PS needs a suggestion box hahaha. QUOTE(cheaka @ Jul 30 2007, 02:38 PM) Just a little update on Frodo.....he seems to be really okay now...still a bit more diarrhoe but I think he pretty much clean up himself this time....hardly see any black stuff stuck at his butt...... Ohh.... getting better loh. That's good. It has been such a regular routine for me to take him out and dump his backside in a bowl of warm water to clean his backside...he is now so used to it....he will just hold on the edge of the bowl and let me clean.....what a good boy..... It has been a while i have not show some pictures....here's some..... took it quiet a while ago liao... Pic 1 : Gollum and Eowyn manjaing time.... Pic 2 : Gollum and his cricket I think he likes the feeling of warm water on his butt hahaha. QUOTE(coldfusionpower @ Jul 30 2007, 05:38 PM) wah .. Frodo been such a god boy ya .. YOur Chika hinting that he wants to go Redang to swim hahahah....p/s: anyone glider here like water ? last few days, chika roaming aroung the room then he just straight away jump from the curtain to the planted tank ! who me ? where got . u are the one wanna kidnap maa . i just make a distraction . haha isn't that right my "patner in crime" ? ofcoz they dont want them to sleep. if not, ppl cannot see them in action . so just put them inside a empty cage lor. just food and water in the exxoterra bowl. and theres a small hermit crab tank just infront of the glider cage. the light are bright and really close to the cage. sigh .. dah la no selimut or coconut hideout. next to a hot bright lamp pulak and they took it out .. put at ppl hands ... The shops don't put cloth or coconut so that people can see them.... poor things. QUOTE(Vio @ Jul 30 2007, 10:14 PM) hi guys i'm back. hey cheeka seeing ur male gliders reminds me back when i first got mine. today his testical was missing. i'm assuming it that it had fell off. i've search through the whole cage but failed to find his little ball. must i apply anything so that he won't get infected or smtg like that? If the wound is dry, you do not need to put any antiseptic.... but if it is moist and you see your glider licking alot, you may need some antibiotics from the vet.QUOTE(Taipan1 @ Jul 30 2007, 10:25 PM) Hun Sigh... bananas and corn are cheap.... here most would advice apples, mealworms and dogfood....At least down in malaysia the sellers give the buyers a variety of food for gliders - up here they just tell them to feed bananas & corn CFP - maybe Chika wants to learn how to swim or catch some fish for it's meal. Maybe you should buy a small aqualung for it so it can go diving |

Have 2 is enough lah.... 3 can be ok but if you have 2 females with 1 male..... later you will have a breeding problem.... if 2 males with 1 female, can end up fighting....

Hahahah... Iggy and Luna got a long list of fruits....
Kiah's fruits: Papaya: Ok lah Carrot: nibble nibble... can makan, not so bad Sawi: Yay! Shredding and nibbling time.... but won't eat much, more for play Sun Melon: Yums Honey Dew: Only sweet ones Apple: Ok lah Pear: Only juicy crunchy sweet ones Rambutan: Huh? Longan: Huh? Tomato: Yuck.... Grape: Once a while Watermelon: so watery but nice Jambu Air: Only sweet ones Guava: yucks.... Kiwi: Nooo..... Red Dragon fruit: Weird, nibble nibble... ok lah. But then if I blend the fruits together into a puree, Kiah will finish everything up. This is where I make smoothies for her. A nutritious high fiber snack with all her vitamins, minerals and calcium added hahahah. Jarrah's fruits: Apple: Yummy Pear: Yummy Honey Dew: Gimme Sun Melon: Nibble Nibble Tomato: strange but nice Strawberry: yums Jambu air: so so lah Both love their crickets.... Jarrah likes mealworms too. Kiah is addicted to sun flower seeds... most gliders love sweet corn too but again, take caution, never feed fully, only a few corn nibblets as treats, same as sun flower seeds. |

If expensive then I don't think there will be demand on it. Make it affordable.... or why not just do your roasted cricket thing... I think you will gain more demand on roasted crickets hahahah.

Are you sure it is that? Normally not enough calcium would lead to hind leg paralysis.... I don't think it causes twitches.... I have read that it is normal for gliders to twitch during their sleep. Some gliders, especially joeys shiver after waking from their sleep or emerging from their pouches coz they are warming up their bodies. Trembling is also a sign of stress....

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Underaged sugar gliders..... never get joeys that look like the ones in these pictures or in KP's post.... they need milk.... they need warmth, they need more attention and more work than properly weaned joeys. Those pics, the joeys are only 3 weeks old Out Of Pouch.... joeys should be separated when they are more than 8 weeks Out Of Pouch... and that is the minimum age. The best age is actually 3 months.... Some people have experience their joeys dying... WHY? Coz the joey is too young, it is depressed and stressed.... a joey that young that is depress will not have any appetite for food, will catch cold and die coz it gives up.... pity. ![]() This is how a healthy joey should look like. The tail must be fluffy.... those tails that look like rat tails, thin and no fluff are underage... get those that got fluffy tails. The one in the picture is about 50 days OOP. Compare the tails of the underaged joeys and the one with that is about 50 days OOP.... |
