The prices has gone up lah.... Rm300 is normal. As for age... if you have done your research, you would know what age to tame them and at what age to get them.....

QUOTE(sense_less143 @ Jun 24 2007, 09:14 PM) First, I shud say that I found him, safe and sound. He was curled inside my jewelry box! I didnt even think he can fit inside there, but there you go ^^ Well, only let out when you are around.... monitor closely coz Wasabi is still not bonded. I didn't let my glider out freely for 1 month after I got her.... always inside the pouch or perched on me. So just be careful.Alright, noted, I shouldnt have let him roam on his own, but I dont have a big cage for him yet (still kumpul money to buy), and I feel sorry for him to be in a small cage (size like the average hamster cage). I've been letting him out at night and in the mornings he always go back to his pouch, so I didnt think much of it. I will be more careful, I promise! QUOTE(coldfusionpower @ Jun 24 2007, 09:36 PM) thats chika ... and yes .. both edi back to normal. shish . they made me super worried ! ..sorry to kacau u at 3 in the morning ! hahaha Hahaha... it's ok... luckily I belum tidur.owh .. btw.. the bald spot now really showing la. can reduce it or not ? kesian laa Bald spot can't reduce lah, natural for male gliders mah. |

Kiah and Jarrah still can't get along yet.... they tend to argue with each other at around 5am every night. Coz Kiah is free ranging, so she goes to Jarrah's cage and pee on the cage.... she scent marking... So funny... but Jarrah would be a bit mad and starts to jump about and crab, then Kiah hiss... gowd... it's a like a circus hahaha.
KP The exoterra vines are made of a rubber material, I think that absorbs the pee too well... Mine also beginning to smell but baking soda helps a bit.... |

Luna still needs more time in adjusting.... does she take food from your hands?
Kiah doesn't like Cherry tomatoes LOL.... Jarrah bite bite a bit only. Well, both are huge fans of my mix heheheh. Kiah was a naughty girl. She stole a piece of my Cream Cracker(big square Jacob brand) and hid it in my bookcase.... I thought I ate the cracker but then found her hiding and munching LOL. |

2nd glider sometimes slightly more challenging to bond.... I can see that in Jarrah hahahh.... but all it takes is patience and being consistent with the bonding.
KP, The powder is called New Age puppy grooming powder.... RM18 at Pet Safari.... You can use any powder lah, as long it is safe for cats and dogs. My cat doesn't come into my room.... so Kiah has never been with my cat before.... my cat is normally in his cage outside or in our living room area lah. But sugar gliders can feel insecure if there are predators about.... Jarrah is insecure about everything LOL.... scared of Chelsea.... but Kiah, I think ferret also she don't mind since she not scared of my other pets too. Snow ah, luckily Shurie is alright..... becareful next time, rats are stronger than gliders... |

Baking soda is sodium... animals do not like the taste of baking soda... coz I also don't like the taste hhahaha.... but if so many tips fail....
The white vinegar takes many times to be effective. The best is spraying or dripping everyday on the same area without wiping it away. If that fails, another tip is peppermint oil... can get a small bottle from aromatherapy shop... Another one: Mix 7.5g of dried organic peppermint leaves, 35g of organic cayenne powder and 30g of baking soda. Sprinkle the mixture liberally around the area where ants are entering your home. |

QUOTE(coldfusionpower @ Jul 4 2007, 03:28 AM) vinegar = doesnt work wahh.... the ants at your place are like alien ants... LOL.baking powder = doesnt work haih .. later hv to find aromatherapy shop .. maybe can get lavender candle also .. help me to sleep .. huhuhu eh .. where the heck is the shop ? anyone ? QUOTE(krynzpeaches @ Jul 4 2007, 10:02 AM) I used to work at an aromatherapy shop, but now that shop closed already. Yups, the 100% peppermint only works. I'm also looking for one, but dunno where. Make sure the peppermint oil you buy is 100% essential oil, not perfumed oil. Perfumed oil doesn't work cuz it's just the perfume smell of it. Only 100% essential oil works and has healing compounds in it Hun, yesterday went to Carrefour Wangsa Maju. Now they selling pets also in Carrefour We need to curb those commercial breeders lah, too many already! Don't we need a license or something to become breeders here?? Can we get the law to do that? KP Yah, the Carrefour at Wangsa Maju sells pets now but I only saw hamsters and rabbits.... really ah got Sugar glider? Ish.... I'm now as furious as you. How can they sell pets in a supermarket? I find that.... so unhealthy.... not unhealthy for us but unhealthy for the animals.... sure stressed till gila coz there got many children. Currently no license for breeding.... the commercial breeders are getting cheap cheap adults from Indonesia.... imagine lah, Joey at Indo only Rm50, so wild adults how much? Sure something like Rm30.... QUOTE(krynzpeaches @ Jul 4 2007, 12:21 PM) What's MSGA? How to do it? Next year, they will be joey boom.... those who have pairs or more sure will have joeys for sale. This year the demand for joeys is quite high.... Later suggies will be overpopulated and evn sadder without many good owners cuz Malaysian people like to buy on impulse especially when see so cute Dah la we don't have proper food for them (except for Hun's mix, but only forumers would know about it) and then the people selling teach wrong things to buyer KP Yah, no proper food. I wish I could mass produce my mix but too bad I got no man power for that. QUOTE(krynzpeaches @ Jul 4 2007, 12:40 PM) I think actually people don't think about inbreeding with pets. Petshops and commercial breeders do not care.... to them, as long male and female, breed lah. They keep like 1 male with 4 or more females together.... breed non stop and feeding only apples and premium dogfood....They think since they're just animals, "who cares", or "what's the worse that could happen?" Thus why the petshops even sell "gila" hamsters and dunno why they "gila". I also think we don't have any special breeders with strong network for certain type of pets so that people who are interested could get them directly from these breeders rather than the petshop. You know like they have in the US for suggies and such... If we have certified breeders who is really certified to breed them(with knowledge and such), it could give those commercial breeders less opportunity right? KP QUOTE(cheaka @ Jul 4 2007, 05:59 PM) Hi all...sorry had been so busy that had not been able to catch up..anyway...while reading this..yup..I noticed that there's no control over small pets like this....I did checked with WWF Malaysia about the mass selling in adpost last time...the ones we saw with lots of adults for sale.... Sigh.... sad that the importation of gliders are not watched over carefully.... many are illegal but then there is no way to know which are legal and illegal....and this is the reply i get.. Thank you for your email. Sugar Gliders are not protected/ enlisted as endangered at this point of time, but it may eventually be so if it continues to be in demand, as pets for example. It's actually difficult to identify between a wild & captive sugar glider. Even if it is captive, the adult males/females that have been originally obtained may not be captive, as it only breeds twice a year - as mentioned in one of the posts in the forum: But how are you going to get profit from an animal that can only breed twice a year? Easy, you just get lots of adult pairs and set up a sg factory. Breeders may need to obtain a lot of adults from the wild for this purpose. A dealer/breeder needs a license to prove that it's captive. Otherwise, when in doubt, do not purchase the sugar glider. As it is not protected, there are no laws stopping people from bringing them in. However, Indonesia issues a permit for all wildlife (wild or captive bred) exported, so, any Sugar Gliders that arrive from Indonesia into Malaysia without these permits should be considered illegal and should be reported to PERHILITAN. WWF-Malaysia works together with TRAFFIC, the wildlife trade monitoring network to ensure that trade in wild plants and animals is not a threat to the conservation of nature. However, we are NOT enforcement agencies. If you know of or suspect anyone illegally selling or trapping endangered species, or their products, please contact: Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN), KL Tel: 03-9075 2872 Fax: 03-9075 2873 Website: http://www.wildlife.gov.my/ Email: pakp@wildlife.gov.my TRAFFIC Southeast Asia, PJ Tel: 03-7880 3940 Fax: 03-7882 0171 Website: www.traffic.org Email: tsea@po.jaring.my (NOTE: Although TRAFFIC is not an enforcement agency, they can monitor & keep database of wildlife trade market trends to be on the alert at all times & to inform the relevant enforcement agencies) Hope this info will help you. WWF-Malaysia Check us out at www..wwf.org.my QUOTE(Reallizer @ Jul 5 2007, 01:07 AM) hie everyone!! i've read lot of things from this thread.. so today ive made my decision to own a sg.. ive already bought the cage from pet safari.. complete set; the cage, food bowl, vines, artificial plant, the coconut(for sleeping), foods and lots more.. so now i've heard bout the mass breading, i felt a bit afraid i'll get an untamed sg.. so any true breeder around here? i really wanna own a sg.. so plz help me.. where can i get a handraised sg? if can get it asap it would be GREAT!! cant tahan already laaa... so tempted.. huhuhuh.. i tahan bout 2 months d... now my hand so gatalllllllll... ahahah Read more... read more.... but it is good that you have bought a cage already. Most breeders do not handle their joeys.... but 2 month old joeys are easy to tame. It is hard to find handraised joeys since not many people practice it. If they do, the joeys are only semi-tame.... anyway, if you want joeys, can PM me. |

From the picture, the testicle is dead. You need to bring to a vet to safely take it off.... Not many of us are from Malacca... so we have no idea which vet to recommend you. So far only KL vets have some knowledge about exotic pets.

Hope Akira can get well.
Vio, the e-collar, you have to DIY yourself. Look around for websites on the internet, you can get details on how to make one using plastic card or flexible strong paper. Today just gave a bath to Jarrah.... he smells like rotten apples coz he loves to eat and shake around, resulting in the food bits and fruit bits all over him and his pouch hahah.... naughty fella eats like a dirty monkey. Anyway, he doesn't crab at me when I hold him anymore.... can climb around me. He only crabs when he is inside his pouch hahaha.... Now he smells better than before, also less scratchy since I trimmed his nails as well. |

QUOTE(krynzpeaches @ Jul 7 2007, 05:43 PM) Hmm, I think I also wanna visit Dr. Yeoh soon... Haha... you know how to bath Luna and Iggy already.... so can lah. Luna is easier to bath than Iggy.... Iggy likes to curi curi take big bites during his bath hahahah....Hun, I think I gotta give Iggy & Luna a bath again lah, so smelly Vio, when the whole testicle and tube becomes dry it will come off like I've told you before. If there's no infection, then he'll be fine, just worried if there some infection, then he'll fall sick or something... I think do what CFP suggest, call Dr. Yeoh and ask. That day if I could not get hold of my vet friend, memang want to call Dr. Yeoh, but since she already explained to me, I didn't la... Let us know how it's going. CFP, got a slightly over age glider is OK, under age aje very worrying. But your case female jadi male, memang sucks ley... Sense_less, meaning you think your suggie under age lah, he could be then. As for now, don't rush into getting another glider too soon, I think now a lot of people are doing that and some doesn't seem right... Why? Because when people wanted to get a glider for a pet, they know that gliders need companion and needs a lot of time and attention, still they want a glider... So their best choice is to get 2... But having 2 gliders does not mean that you don't need to spend time with them, or they're fine together... You still need to interact with them, let them out for playtime with you, carry them around in the pouch with you because if you don't, you will not get that special bond of having a glider as pet... You're better off having a pet that doesn't offer this, like a hamster perhaps... Don't get me wrong, I'm not directing this to you, but just generally speaking. I'm worried that there'll be abandon cases by next year... So worried... KP I agree with you..... I see many people abandoning gliders or reselling off coz say not tame lah or troublesome.... pity those gliders. Alot are just getting upon impulse.... well, we are responsible for the little critter for at least 15 years, so we must treat it with respect and lots of TLC.... really lah, I can't imagine reselling Jarrah and Kiah.... it's like giving away my own kids for adoption. QUOTE(coldfusionpower @ Jul 7 2007, 08:01 PM) like that we hv to make a sugar glider shelter .. hehehe .. if got sponsor sure syok ! .. buy a house, make plenty of big cage . and try to rescue as many sg . treat them and adopt to ppl who really care . with some filteration of coz .. Glider shelter... sigh.... rumah I ada.... but cages and food and a bit of rent money how? If you guys don't mind sponsoring a bit, I don't mind asking my aunt if we can rent a room at her house which is currently empty.... but I cannot do such a thing alone lah. |

The hissing that joeys is normally a sign that it wants it's mom.... How old is the joey? At first you said your friend gave it to you coz got extra joey? Then you edit pulak.... wonder why.
If he hisses during defecating, it could be a sign of constipation.... if during pee, difficulty in urinating.... two signs that need extra attention if it happens. It is normal for joeys to crab once a while.... You also do not need to cover the cage.... |
