Hi, need some knowledge help here.
First time buying stuff online @.@

If i buy a pair of headphones from amazon.com
that cost 65USD/RM 230.
will i get taxed? will the item get held by the kastam?

and need some advice from those who ordered stuff from amazon before about their delivery service.

There are 3 types of shipping service on amazon:
Standard Shipping
Expedited Shipping
Priority Shipping

which one is more recommended?

and let's say i get taxed, will i get taxed based on the price of the item or the total price inclusive of shipping cost?

and let's say it gets held by the kastam, I'm living in penang and i can't go to KL to claim it, any way of getting it without me going? and estimated cost ?

Thanks in advance biggrin.gif

Well...if you can spare extra bucks on shipping then go for Expedited or Priority. Quicker and if I'm not mistaken Priority has tracking. Not sure about Expedited shipping.

If you want the cheapest go for Standard International Shipping (averages 18-32 days) which is Normal shipping. No tracking. Takes 3-4 weeks to arrive (depending on customs).

I usually buy books and dvds on amazon and so far have used the standard shipping method due to reason that expedited and priority shipping is so high. Luckily I don't have much trouble as my orders all manage to arrive safely. So...choice is up to you.

Should your item get taxed...it will be based on the price of item PLUS shipping cost.

You will get a letter from custom if your item is held. If you can't come to KL you can appoint someone to do the custom clearing (i.e your family...friend) or you can appoint POS MALAYSIA to do it for you (everything is stated in the custom letter so just follow what to do).

About the estimated cost...there's a fee should you appoint POS MALAYSIA to clear the custom on your behalf (can't remember how much but I think it's below than RM50 not including any taxes you need to pay) However from my experience it it always better to go by yourself or ask friend to help because easier to explain things to the customs since they will ask a lot of questions on the item to determine whether it's taxable or not.

I order jersey and shirt from U.K..but i get taxed by customs...
damn . Its around rm200 LA...how come like this?
*
is RM200 including shipping/ insurance etc? Sometimes even if it's below RM500 you could still get taxed IF the stuff you're bringing in is taxable. I think jersey and shirt falls under the fabric and textile section where can get taxed between 30%-45% because that happen to me before when I brought in some shirts and blankets sad.gif

i like to import some adult toys in. how many of you did that b4? what is the procedures?
*
Adult toys...vibrators...dildo...etc. Most likely will be confiscated as it falls under the category Bahan Lucah if buy directly from overseas. One way to get avoid chance of customs inspection if you can get a friend from say...Singapore to buy what you want and ask your friend to post from JB whistling.gif

hi guys need some help here.

if my friend from singapore wana send me a new handphone(worth not much sgd$200 like that nia), and declare it as a gift, will i still need to apply for SIRIM etc?

or can i just collect it from the  post office once it arrived?

thanks!
*
I was told by a customs officer that hp do need to get approval from sirim but it all base on their so call budi bicara. If you're lucky to get a nice custom officer he could let go without needing to go through sirim. Just say is for your own personal use and good communication skill is helpful when dealing with them customs ppl laugh.gif

my parcel stuck at LCCT custom wink.gif
anyway, do i need to apply SIRIM for faulty phone? hmm.gif
if there is two different models inside a parcel, do i need to apply two SIRIM(RM2XX + RM2XX) for both phones instead of one SIRIM(RM2XX only)?

hope someone can clear my doubt, thanks.

Go to the custom first. See whether you have to apply SIRIM or not.

hi all ,this is 1st time i bought item oversea
1mth+ ago i juz bought a toy frm hk cost me around US10 byy normal airmail (no tracking number)and until nw i still never recieved the item

izit possible because of my item withheld by custom, toy confirm need to charge 5% imprt duties? but i never recieved any notification frm there so far, who should i ask? post laju? but it didnt provide any tracking number....dunno is because my item lose or delay at custom, kinda worry abt that
*
Hi...I know how you feel but bear in mind that as long the shipping method is non trackable (normal airmail) there is nothing you can do but wait. If the item is held by customs you will get a letter stating that you need to go clear with them or appoint an agent or post office to do for you. If you did not received anything then your item has not arrived in Malaysia yet...could be lost or still in transit. NExt time it is most advisable that you at least request the seller to use registered post/ confirmed delivery where got tracking but is less expensive than Express shipping. However this is also dependable on the weight of item.

...And if the item cost below RM500 (including any insurance plus shipping) usually it will not get taxed.

if i import 1 sports DVD from Japan that worth RM200 should be safe rite
since it is not lucah and below RM500 sweat.gif

Normally small package such as a single disc dvd or a couple will be released without any trouble as the long cost is not more than RM500. If big box set dvds will usually get held by the customs and you will most likely get a love letter from them tongue.gif

Hi guys, while reading this thread i keep getting scared and nervous cause i order yaoi manga from ebay and when i checked its still " In custom"
and then i checked again its say 'Departure from inward office of exchange"
does that mean it just released ?

I'm living in Langkawi, so does that mean customs will checked again or Pos malaysia can send to me directly?
*
Should be no problem dear. I've bought yaoi from ebay and amazon dozens of time so got no problem. Unless you purchased over RM500 then they will held your parcel and ask you to clear it with the customs' office in LCCT. If your parcel is less than RM500 it will go to post malaysia after passing through customs. You should get in within a week. rclxms.gif

Thats good then  biggrin.gif
Lucky its below RM200 including shipping, What about KDN?, when did they checked our item? because i read somewhere that yaoi had been banned  shocking.gif
*
Yes...but good thing Customs abit lazy. If they are so strict every book will need to get clearance from KDN as well. What the customs do now as long your parcel not big heavy and exceed RM500 they will let go. blush.gif
