Quantity around 2000 pieces which cost me around RM 2000.00 2) do i need to declare it using form? whats the consequences if i do not declare it? (there's some replies saying that it's almost imposible to run away from the smart custom officers... ) 3) or any other way for me to ship in my items without being taxable to the boleh land custom? QUOTE(karenchf @ Jan 3 2009, 12:08 AM) Hi everyone, From my experience, if custom happen to detain your goods (cosmetic) and pass to the pharmacy dept, they r likely to confiscate the goods as 2000 pcs of masks, which you can hardly claim as for personal use, as cosmetic items must have import license before you can bring them in. If you are lucky that the custom or pharmacy dont check your goods, then no problem.i need someone to help me on this, i've browsed all this thread and couldn't find any reply that clear my doubts!! 1) i intend to import loads of facial masks is it dutiable? First time buying stuff online @.@ If i buy a pair of headphones from amazon.com that cost 65USD/RM 230. will i get taxed? will the item get held by the kastam? and need some advice from those who ordered stuff from amazon before about their delivery service. There are 3 types of shipping service on amazon: Standard Shipping Expedited Shipping Priority Shipping which one is more recommended? and let's say i get taxed, will i get taxed based on the price of the item or the total price inclusive of shipping cost? and let's say it gets held by the kastam, I'm living in penang and i can't go to KL to claim it, any way of getting it without me going? and estimated cost ? Thanks in advance |

They count as personal use if the cosmetic you ordered is equal to a 1 month usage. How much is one month usage you wonder, well you can keep wondering, they wont give you the exact amount that can be count as 1 month usage. Its all up to the pharmacist, he or she will the determine whether your order is equal to 1 month usage or not. |

Want to know if I buy PC components (such as RAMs) from US, will I get taxed? The total valued is around RM2,000.00
Which is better in terms of avoiding Custom Tax... thru Fedex or US Express Mail? If declared as gift, will I still get taxed? |

Thanks in advance There are 3 types of shipping service on amazon: Standard Shipping Expedited Shipping Priority Shipping which one is more recommended? Well...if you can spare extra bucks on shipping then go for Expedited or Priority. Quicker and if I'm not mistaken Priority has tracking. Not sure about Expedited shipping. If you want the cheapest go for Standard International Shipping (averages 18-32 days) which is Normal shipping. No tracking. Takes 3-4 weeks to arrive (depending on customs). I usually buy books and dvds on amazon and so far have used the standard shipping method due to reason that expedited and priority shipping is so high. Luckily I don't have much trouble as my orders all manage to arrive safely. So...choice is up to you. and let's say i get taxed, will i get taxed based on the price of the item or the total price inclusive of shipping cost? Should your item get taxed...it will be based on the price of item PLUS shipping cost. and let's say it gets held by the kastam, I'm living in penang and i can't go to KL to claim it, any way of getting it without me going? and estimated cost ? You will get a letter from custom if your item is held. If you can't come to KL you can appoint someone to do the custom clearing (i.e your family...friend) or you can appoint POS MALAYSIA to do it for you (everything is stated in the custom letter so just follow what to do). About the estimated cost...there's a fee should you appoint POS MALAYSIA to clear the custom on your behalf (can't remember how much but I think it's below than RM50 not including any taxes you need to pay) However from my experience it it always better to go by yourself or ask friend to help because easier to explain things to the customs since they will ask a lot of questions on the item to determine whether it's taxable or not. If the parcel is addressed to Penang. Than, KL custom will post it to Penang custom. Most likely they will send it to the post office near the Ferry. That's where I'd go to pick up my stuff before. |
