QUOTE(evilhomura89 @ Oct 10 2008, 06:33 PM) chances of getting taxed is low but they might withheld it if they go bonkers. next time, you could request the seller to declare the item as a "misc. computer accs."QUOTE(onlinefever @ Oct 10 2008, 11:39 PM) bags i'm not too sure, but it should be taxable as it falls under the "fashion apparel" category but hey, tell you what, i've just received my seven pieces of printed round neck tees in a single shipment, customs ppl release it just like that. so, i guess, if you're buying just a bag, it should be ok, just make sure that the sender don't fancy sending stuff in the big fancy boxQUOTE(Bepeon @ Oct 12 2008, 05:26 PM) I will be shipping some Nike stuffs, such as bandanas, t shirts.... from America. that is not correct, items that are taxable with the parcel value worth more than RM200 (excluding printed media eg. CDs, DVDs & BDs) have higher chances to get withheld at customs. they will not bother to hold items lower than RM200 value as the taxable amount is too low for them to earn moolah. Is there a customs hotline number to call to find out if my parcel has been withheld? My package was shipped 5 weeks ago but still no sign of it. It did not come with tracking and so far I've yet to receive any notice to collect the item at the Customs office. Thanks!

If i were to order an xbox 360 console from amazon.com @ $199
shipping around $5. How much would the custom charge me? And will it be 100% that the custom will catch the item or is there a chance that the item will go under their nose (means they don't realise it)? |

I was planning to get 2 sidekicks (from e-bay) for me and my bf, but after reading this thread I'm starting to have doubts.
The total cost was suppose to be around USD$680+ (inclusive of shipping via USPS), which would total to be around something like RM1400 (way over RM500 T_T). Would like to know how they check the parcels and how come some people can get 'lucky' and some people get detained and gotta go through custom&sirim even though it's just 1 parcel and a present? How does the system work? |

I have an uncle in Japan and he is going to send me a bunch of stuff via EMS.
There is no particular theme/type/category to the items: anime figurines mangas DVDs food/snacks random souvenir Ipod computer mouse (dont ask) some cosmetic (for sis) The package comes up to about 3+ kg. What would be the best category to fill in on the EMS form. that would encounter minimal hassle? Cosmetic is out due to need pharmacy AP. Electronic is out due to Sirim AP. That leaves only: Household Goods Sundries Computer Parts Personal Computer Machineries Based on http://tariff.customs.gov.my/ Computer Part and PersoCom looks like a safe bet, but does anyone more experience can chip in their 2cents? Also would it possible/safe to lie about the value on the package on the EMS form? thanks in advance. |
