totally get it, u really helpful bro thanks!

for unregistered product, which is it not exist in the quest3 in bpfk website, does it mean there is no any notification holder?
so if i'm going to register, do i still need manufacturer authorisation? because if yes, i will have to get it from overseas?
i mean if i dont sell sk-ii, i sell other brand without anyone notify it before, which also we dont have any manufacturer or retailer here

besides that, you mean open a company with several "brand name" of cosmetics registered is better?
*
Yup. If it is cosmetics, and it is not registered in Quest3, means that there is no notification holder for the product. But try to use the search more thoroughly as the product registered name may be a bit different than what you see on the label.

And yes, you will still need to get authorisation from the company that you are going to get from, and yes as well, since most probably the manufacturer is from oversea. If it is locally manufactured, you can get it locally of course. smile.gif

If you sell wanted to sell any cosmetic, the cosmetics must be notified, if not, you will get in trouble with the enforcement agency. If you want to sell notified product, you have to get it from the authorised wholeseller (i.e. SK-II's notification holder is PROCTER & GAMBLE (MALAYSIA) SDN.BHD.).
If it is not notified, and you want to sell, you will need to have it notified through the online application system in BPFK website.

On the side note, actually there are many wholeseller company being a notification holder for several brands of cosmetics. So yes again, if a company can get many brands of cosmetics notified under its name, it means the company have variety of products, for wholesale, which will definitely be more profitable. Of course, there will always be contractual bound with companies as well which is different for different company.

Thanks for your help, moniqee and UyxoR! I'm guessing since I got 2 different answers, it's a 50-50 chance I may get taxed huh?  biggrin.gif I guess with the malaysian customs, everything is a matter of luck and chance. Will ask my friend to use USPS Priority Mail International with tracking with the value at USD$100 and hope for the best!

Correct me if I'm wrong though, but if the customs officers consider the kindle as a computer item, it shouldn't be taxed right? I read in some of the previous replies that computer items aren't taxable?
*
well computer items are not taxable under the duty tax but it's taxable under the sales tax... there are 2 taxes.. ( custom tax/duty tax and sales tax ) so if you really want to avoid such hassle... I would really suggest that you get your kindle from lowyat sellers or when your friends comes back to Malaysia bring it along with him...

i remember is no need but you need to purchase a declaration letter from pos msia that it's a high price item kua... it would cost you like around RM25+- (if the price has fluctuated) and you might need to collect your laptop from the custom...

Hi, I want to buy this item from ebay. A vacuum insulated stainless steel water bottle. Do I need to pay tax for this?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/321008367886

I used the www.dutycalculator.com and it said that there's a 15% import duty rate & 10% VAT (classified under 'stainless steel flasks'). But I couldn't find the info in tariff.customs.gov.my....

Can anyone enlighten me on this matter? Thanks smile.gif

Ordered a badminton racket + grips + socks from Taiwan.

02-Jan-2013 15:09:00 Consignment held by custom for inspection.
High - value goods
31-Dec-2012 04:51:23 Departure from inward OE/Send item to domestic location
31-Dec-2012 03:57:02 Arrived at inward OE/Receive item at OE
30-Dec-2012 09:17:00 Departure from outward OE

This is the tracking info. Wonder why it was held by custom for inspection. Declared value on customs declaration was only USD32.

Hope no tax payable.

Got taxed today by the customs for my PVC figure sad.gif. I bought 2 figures (GSC's Ultimate Madoka) that totaled up to RM900 including shipping . The code used to tax me was 9503H 400I. Even though I pleaded and pleaded, I still got taxed 10% at the end. Sigh.. It really spoiled the fun of getting the figure sad.gif

I've been buying a lot of figures through out these years but so far have been lucky enough not to get taxed (maybe because the amount did not exceed RM500 as mentioned).

However, this time I get taxed, my figures were shipped via EMS. Previously all my purchases were shipped via SAL. There was once I bought 8 Gundams that totaled to about RM600 but didn't get taxed too. I was also using SAL for shipping.

Somehow I get the suspicion that there is higher possibility of getting taxed if we use EMS. But of course, one thing I like to mention here is that my figures this time were both in a HUGE box, probably attracting more attention as well.

What do you all think? (I plan to read all the posts in this thread but there's just too many pages)

Picked up my parcel from PosLaju yesterday (because I missed delivery at home). Luckily no tax payable (shouldn't be taxed anyway).

If you buy thru spreers, you dont need to worry about customs.
S far, Ive never been asked t pay custom duties or even be bothered with any custom issues.
Its better to buy this way-no hassle, no stress

Many of us has purchase things online, many from Amazon, eBay, playasia, yesasia and etc...

As a regular online buyer, you should know sometimes your goods will be held by the custom, and require you to pay tax in order for them to release the items.

If such case happened, do you know how much you'll need to pay? or do you need to pay at all?

So guys, here's a useful site that you can refer to in case your items are withheld by the custom.  You should find out in advance first how much you need to pay, and avoid being slaughtered by the corrupt custom officers.

So here's the link:
http://www.customs.gov.my/kastam/

How to search:
Go under the first field on top menu "Customs"
Then select "Customs Duties Order 1996" or "AHTN Duties Order 2004"
Select "Schedule 1" from the submenu
Do a search on right hand column

Bear in mind that not all of the search will end up with a positive result
Here's some of the things I found out from there:
- cameras of all kind like non-digital/digital cameras/video camera are totally tax free (heading 8525), same with camera accessories like lenses or flash (heading 9001)
- Video games console are taxable with 10% import tax (heading 9504)
- Video projectors are tax free (heading 8528)
- Blank CD/DVD are tax free (heading 8523)
- Figurines are taxable with 5% import tax (heading 9502 and 9503)

btw, I still can't find what's the actual tax for movie/games disc.
Appreciate if anyone can find the info and put it here. icon_rolleyes.gif
