what do you want to buy? i only have experience in buying kpop stuffs..
first u need to have paypal/debit card/credit card..
then you can just register on the website u want to buy..then follow the steps..
they'll give you the tracking no if the shipping is registered air mail or EMS
then you can track it online to know the status of you stuff

Hi Morning, Saggitario

Sales Tax= (CIF goods price + Duty import + Duty Excise) x 5%
(RM686.92 + RM90 + RM254.38) x 5% = RM51.56 (Is correct)

Duty Excise= (CIF goods price + Duty import)x rate in %
= (RM686.92 + RM90) x 20%
= RM155.38

Duty Cess for Rubber Product, 2402.10.000( Tariff code): RM220/KGM (Yes, you need yo pay this to Custom Diraja M'sia)

Duty Cess for Rubber Product= 0.45kg x RM220 = RM99 (add to Duty Excise column). So the duty Excise was RM155.38 + RM99= RM254.38

Total need to pay= Import duty + Duty Excise + Sales Tax
= RM( 90 + 254.38 + 51.56)

hi guys, can you please help me understand how exactly Malaysian Customs charge us on importing tobacco (cigars). Last week I was charged RM395.94 for the cigars that I bought from overseas.

Here's the details:

I was charged under the 2402.10.000 (tariff code) which says:

Import Rate (RM200/KG) + Sales Tax 5% + Excise Duty 20% and 150 p.u. (per unit)

How do they calculate the unit? Mine was 1526.46.. I wonder where did they dig the figure from..

The total weight was 0.45 kg (which is 450g) - it was 45 sticks of cigars.

I bought the cigars for RM686.91 (it was 2 boxes of cigars and 2 sample packs of 5 cigars).

In the form, they said this:

Duti+Eksais+Cukai Jualan = Jumlah
RM90 + 254.38 +51.56 = RM395.94

by right, the excise duty is RM 137.39 (coz, 686.91 x 0.2 (which means 20%) = 137.39).. why is it 254.38??

and sales tax.. by right it should be just RM686.91 x 0.05 (which means 5%) = RM34.35, but they charge me RM51.56..

I am perplexed la.. BTW I attach the photo of the document here..

Can you guys please help?

Thanks a gee!

Added on May 9, 2012, 7:24 pmthe tax calculation for cigar:

import duty (200/kg), excise (220 and 20%), sales tax (5%)..
therefore:
import duty : 0.45 X 200 = 90
excise : ((value + import duty) x 20%) + (0.45x220) = 254.38
sales tax = (value + import + excise) x 5% = 51.56

tq

Found 2 interesting post.
I'll try to explain what the above means:
- Amaun duti = duty amount lor... which in this case is none.
- Bayaran pengendalian Agen/Dokumentasi = Agency fee, you ask ppl to handle the custom for you, need to pay them mah.
- Cukai Perkhidmatan = Service Tax 5% x RM30 = RM1.50
- Bayaran EDI = Customs declaration is sent through online, RM18 per declaration is pretty standard, some agent might up the price a little.
- OGA = Other Government Agencies. Which in this DVD case is Keselamatan Dalam Negeri, they'll see the title and probably the cover to decide whether this item is allowed in Malaysia. Porno / Ajaran sesat is a definite NO-NO.

On another case/post by a pretty pissed off fella:

I guess this is the post you mean right?
To be honest, customs are bully. They'll try to tax you the highest they can. Either you are their good friend which everything can be discussed or under table lah. The point is, if you feel it is not right, ask for Penjenisan department. They have the authority on goods classification and tariff code.

As an agent myself, I always face the same problem. Same shipment, same item today the officer say no duty, the next day the other officer say got duty. When tell him bout prior shipment, he says the other officer overlooked.

If you have shipments stucked in Port Kelang... look for me. I might be able to help you. "MIGHT" only ya... not confirm. wink.gif

Computer hardware/accessories are generally non dutiable/taxable. Except for a few such as fan & notebook bags.

There are many logistics company, at least 60-70% of them are quite reliable.
All charges are about the same, maybe different of 10-50 ringgit per shipment.

they wont ask for tax.. they just need you to declare high price item... you will need to get pos malaysia write you a letter(they charge around RM25 something if not mistaken) and pass back to them, open box show them laptop.. youre done, go home.. but i think its a waste of time if you do it your self, cause of time, petrol, tol... better just assign pos to do it for you.. they charge extra forgot how much to do it for you... all you have to do is just wait at home

Anyone knows if clothes are taxable? I bought some unbranded clothes/accessories and a pair of shoes from various korean websites, consolidated into one shipment.

I just did the tracking and found this.

Customs retention reason : High-value goods - Official customs declaration required

This is the first time my things kena held up. Anyone can advise? I never had such problems when i was living in singapore =(

Hi bro, I took the trouble to go down to Pos Malaysia at LCCT. Quite troublesome, However, I didnt get taxed after the officer asked me what was inside. Didnt even ask me to open up my box. Guess I must had been really lucky. Lesson learnt, next time I'm never attempting to ship a consolidated shipment of barang barang to malaysia ever again. Too much time and effort wasted just for some clothes that I thought could be bought cheaply online...
