choose a cheaper plan for internet
seriously , even I earn a lot more than you , I'm using a much cheaper internet plan than you, don't pay for gym and spotify.
There's no way around spending less to save more.

dear finance shifus here, i need a little advise & tips in saving and make more money..
im 23 this year, and my salary is about RM2,500(base) + RM500 vehicle maintenance allowance(yes, i am a salesman) + my hp also covered by my company.
i've used up all my saving due to family issue. and now im totally fresh and got to start from 0.
my current fixed income & expenses are listed below:
nett income RM2,745 (after deducting everything)
car loan RM740
HP installment RM140
unifi RM190
medical card RM125
Spotify RM15
GYM membership RM129
my monthly saving with my girlfriend RM150 (into another bank account)
not much left.. around RM1256.. < these are the money i need to spend for daily meal / entertainment expenses and including saving.
i need an advise from shifus in saving money and how to manage my finance properly.. I have no commision because im unlike the salesman out there, i dont sell things, i went out with salesman to assist them.

- Track all your expenses for one month to have a better view of where your money is being spent. Make sure you are not overspending anywhere. The main culprit is usually food.
- Cancel your gym membership and either get a cheaper one, or just workout on your own (e.g. go jogging instead of running on treadmill). Check out https://www.reddit.com/r/bodyweightfitness/.
- Since you stay with your family, maybe ask some of them for help to subsidise the Unifi bill.
- After you finish paying your hp installment, don't buy another expensive handphone until you have decent amount of savings. tongue.gif
- Stay away from debt.

downgrade Unifi to lite (save RM50), cut Gym membership (RM129) and spotify (RM15). With that you already have roughly RM200 spare cash. I believe it is easily to do exercise and get music for free.

change new car with less commitment, sell HP terminate contract, downgrade unifi to lite.

How do you change car with less commitment? I'm pretty sure if he sells the car, he will end up with no car, no cash, and still owes the bank money.

Car loan 740 + Petrol roughly 300 + Maintenance fee (10K KM service once). Twice a year. maybe around RM1.2k ... divide by 12 still about RM100...
Insurance for car, insured at 70k. Roughly 1.2k including road tax. Another 100 per month here.

Car alone 740+300+100+100=1240 per month .

HP installment 12 or 24 months ?

After phone pay finish, do not change phone for min 3 years. You can't help it anymore since you have the phone already. Phone should never be bought using installment as you will pay more compare if you pay in full.

Why the hell do you need spotify? Local Malaysian radios have online streaming. If you really want to listen to music, find an mp3 converter for YouTube. whistling.gif whistling.gif

You don't need unifi. I survive on 1mbps Internet. Heck even digi offer better deal. Rm150 unlimited usage, LTE speed.

Do not save money together with girlfriend. Girlfriend is not your wife. She can break off with you and take off with the money anytime.

The car itself is the biggest mistake I ever made. HP left 11months to finish, and saving with girlfriend is in my bank account, card with me and phone tac also send to me.

I can sympathise, my car instalment was RM735 monthly for 5 years. Bought it too early.

But after I fully paid for it, I sold it off to reduce maintenance/petrol costs. Can save a lot if you willing to tahan public transport.

Sell your car. Why buy so expensive cars? If I'm you I buy proton wira RM 5000. Can move to destination can already.

HP installment, you need to reduce it. Try to use Umobile, my monthly installment only RM 15.

Spotify cut it only, although not much. You still can use free version. For me I crack it, I know it's not ethic to do so, but you need to be little bit selfish when you can't even take care of yourself. After you become rich you can pay them.

Gym membership can cut down to RM 80. You go everyday? If not can find some gym with RM 5 per entry. I go 4 days a week and one month only RM 80.

Try to eat outside less, learn to cook simple meal, really it's not that hard, you might find joy in doing it too! I ate cereal for breakfast, I brought my own lunch to work. Dinner eat with family. And it's healthier too!

It's really not that hard, sometime all it take is just to acknowledge the fact we are poor. Stop acting rich.
For me the hard part is that every time I look at my friends on instagram and fb travel everywhere, flaunting new iphone, new clothes, new cars etc it really made me sad. Cry a little. But then I will pick myself up very fast. cry.gif Repeat these enough and you will be numb to it and feel nothing. cry.gif

Cut down everything for one month and see if you can survive after that... if yes, then continue to live frugally, if no, then u resume back those that u cant live without with..
