Search function does not work.

Error message is

Connection to sphinx-master: 3312 failed (errno=111, msg=connection refused)

Please fix it, having same problem too.

This problem has been going on for more than a year already.. especially during midnight until early morning. Never encounter this issue during daytime.

Actually it isn't a HUGE problem, just that sometimes I can't help but to feel potential customers searching in Garage Sales, end up not discovering me because the search function isn't working..

this happens during the search database reindex early in the morning around 3am. Will look into it and see if it is possible to minimize the search function downtime during the reindex.

I have zero experience with Sphinx but comfortable with Solr & Elasticsearch. Is this cost or technical lmitation?
You can have 2 indices always running, do delta reindex and rotated daily. So no downtime required.
