Saw it in Tarita Sg Wang last Sat when I bought my cam Wanted to buy it but out of budget.

Saw it at few shops selling from RM1700 - RM2000

how is the performance ar? tamron alwis got build quality issue... the mount is plastic, and the sigma lens alwis give sharper images.....

how good u expect the quality for a long range zoom, but this kind of range, the review on thsi lens is quite good..

Gadget freak- why do u choose over 18-200 Nikkor?? AFAIK, 18-200 wallops almost all the third party lenses in everything. Build, Image Quality, barrel, distortion n etc. Anyway this is what i read from Internet.

N i'm talking about apple to apple comparison, 18-200 Nik again 18-200 Sig and 18-200 Tam

talking about apple to apple, Tamron 18-250 (around RM1.6k) with Nikkor 18-200 VR(around 2.6k/2.7k).

both are wide zoom lens, both have same lousy distortion, IQ at wide end and tele end, chromatic abberation and vignetting.

for the price difference, u basically paying extra RM1k for VR and AF-S motor and if u are ok with it, then go ahead, for me not.

and since this is wide zoom, i'll get as far tele as i can since no matter what, the IQ still sux, at this Tamron tele until 250mm.

^i have an 18-200VR and have yet to experience lens creep, maybe because all my shots are handheld.

ya, if you were to get the tamron 18-250, enjoy handholding it at 250 in lowlight

it's ok, i can always use 3 stop more iso to compensate the RM1k

Yes u r right that 18-200 Nikkor got distortion,vignetting, CA and etc. But the distortion if compared to Sigma n Tamron, they are still way ahead.

Bout the lens creep, it's true also. But i handheld all the time. So i dun have that problem. Ppl like to exaggerate the lens creep issue. Why dun we look at the positive side where Kenrockwell drops the lens n the glass dun break???

The ultra wide nikon vs 3rd party tests have varying results with no clear winner...

The 18-200 nikon vs 3rd party is such a whitewash that reviewers don't even bother comparing...

IMHO the VR2 is what makes the lens worth 1k more and rounds it off as the current favourite travel lens...

I guess the price is the absolute thing. Other than that, I believe cameralabs agreed that the Nikkor performs better. It doesn't really justify the 1k extra like what Gadget Freak say. How nice if Msia Ringgit is same with USD. Easier to choose. Hahahah

^if msia RM same with USD then this lens will be sold out lorrr.. in america people opening up threads everyday to search for the lens whilst over here shops have like unlimited supply LOL!

A friend of mine laughed at me when i told him i spent 2.5k on a 18-200vr lens. He LCLY said the 200 will be useless. Then he take and try out for 10 minutes..... his reply "eh quite useful leh, can borrow me?"

BUt its all up to budget i guess, 1k can get a nice one week trip in redang or someplace like that.

Once question though, if buy third party lens, what is the service like when rosak? Am interested in sigma 30mm or 10-20mm
