Hi all.. I have a basic question about train. I want to go to ikebukuro from haneda airport. The route is
either
haneda -> shinagawa -> ikebukuro (kekyu line + jr yamanote line) or
haneda -> hamamatsucho -> ikebukuro (monorail + jr yamanote line).

My question is do I have to buy a new ticket at transfer station (shinagawa or hamamatsucho) or can I use the same ticket to transfer to jr yamanote line?

Thanks.

Cant you take the limousine bus which is much more convenient especially if you have a lot of luggage.

I'm a poor guy and will arrive late at night.. My choice is either train or I'd rather sleep at airport. No kidding biggrin.gif Anyway, thanks for your suggestion on alternative transport..

It is AA flight, so, it is supposed to land at 10.30pm.. Based on my own research, if I cannot catch 11.30pm train, then I will be going to the fifth floor of haneda airport for sleeping..

I'm okay with a bus, but I have booked an airbnb at naka-itabashi. I need to change train at ikebukuro and catch the last train. I think the bus only stops at major city and wont go to this area (I havent done any study on bus route. I just assume). I'm with a family by the way...

Thank you guys for all your advices. At least, you make me aware of what lies ahead so I can be prepared, psychologically..
This is what I get for choosing cheapest airbnb possible. It's ~rm298 per night house for my whole family.. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(lucaswjk @ Aug 4 2017, 05:31 PM)
serious, why nobody shared their AAX 10:30pm arrival experience?
whether they managed to board the last train or not...
just share here la

i myself managed to
1) bought the tokyo metro pass... ~11:00pm - 12:00am
2) board the train from haneda, not sure it is last train or not. boarding time ~12:00 - 12:30am
->(forget the exact time) but the range is correct

but the catch is... my arrival date is on the Chinese New Year's EVE
superduper peak season

so what is your?
*
I think many have no problem catching a last train to city, except for my case, I'm bit a further away from the city. I may not be able to catch the last train on a 2nd transfer..

Hi all.. I just started studying for hakone now.
I'm planning to be there on 1st week of december.. on SUNDAY, 9 dec 2017. I want to use romance car for both ways from shinjuku to hakone-yumoto. There are 6 people in my group including me.

1) Since it's sunday, do I have to prebook the romance car? is it safe to just go there and purchase the romance car ticket on the spot?

2) For the trip back from hakone to shinjuku, I dont know how long it will take for me to finish the hakone round trip tour using the free pass. It is advisable if I prebook the romance car for hakone back to yumoto, let say at 7pm, then if I finish early, ask them to change the ticket to earlier train.. I read this one blog, the guy was able to change their ticket to earlier time.

3) Using the hakone freepass, if I want to board the Sighseeing Cruise ship, do I have to redeem the freepass at the counter to get the boat's ticket, or do I just queue at the pier and show them the freepass?

Thanks..

Between, "converting cash to yen" vs "pay by credit card at overseas",
that means using credit card is more expensive, isnt it?

Hi.. I want to ask about romance car booking..

It has purchase and booking options. If we pick a booking instead of purchase, is our seat secured (since
we are not paying for it yet)?

And for booking, can we pay when we are about to board the train.. I mean, it should be safer this way, right
because we havent paid for it yet. Therefore, in case we arrive late, we just ignore the booking and purchase
a romance car ticket from the counter..

U can try https://www.eforex.com.my/

I have tried it and the rate is not too bad
*
I just used that service last week. Book the money via android apps. Then, collect the money a few days later..
Last week, i changed it at 37.73.

Comparing between its website and phone apps, I find the rate is not the same. The rate in
phone apps is much lower (better) than the one displayed in the website (even as I am writing right now,
I'm looking at both website & my phone).

How's the procedure? Enter the amount, add to cart, pay, then collect at any of their outlets? Any time frame for collection? The rate is quite good. I need to change another 50k yen
*
yes. plus, you must specify the exact date you want to collect the money, and the exact outlet that you want to collect the money.
Time frame : After 2 days ( IINM, I read somewhere, you can collect up to 6 months later). You can specify to collect it immediately or
the next day, but the apps/website will warn you that the outlets is not guaranteed to have enough money due to short notice. You will be notified again if the outlet doesnt have enough money.

Remember also... 1 disney, 1 ticket which is close to rm300/ticket.
If you want to visit both in 1 day, prepare RM550++ .

For hakone, which route is better, clockwise or counter clockwise? I will come with kids on Saturday in early december also. I know both ways are good but ultimately, you need to pick one. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons between clockwise route vs counter clockwise route?

ya, it will be a dji mavic pro....yup will follow the normal drone rules and NFZ....

just not sure any permit need to apply...
*
Actually, I want to say, if there are so many NFZ, it's almost useless to bring the drone. So,
check the nfz map first. Otherwise, you're bringing nothing but a brick. biggrin.gif

Hi Guys, I will visit Japan for 16 days on March. So far do not have any itinerary. Which one should I do first? Plan for the place to visit or plan for the accommodation first? I will fly to Haneda and back from Kansai.
*
my method :
1) list all tourist attractions or places you want to visit
2) see their location on the map, and plan your route based on their locations.
3) From there, you can determine where you want to stay.
