QUOTE(skydrake @ Aug 4 2017, 07:17 PM) I found bus timetable which can still reach ikebukuro east station time at midnight and so on. Just need to give extra midnight charges still better than taxi. https://www.limousinebus.co.jp/en/platform_...hes/index/4/211no need sleeping bag, just pay a bit more. you will spend quite some time on the immi q. so yeah. just prepare. me last time also airbnb around ike. so we decided just to stay at the airport. hehehe their travel info counter open 24hours so yeah just spend time there take all the maps n pamphlet etc and yeah. thats the gyumon! just spare your $$$$

QUOTE(Grimtooth @ Jul 9 2017, 10:58 PM) I'd advise against getting the JR pass. Suica/ICOCA is sufficient in my opinion to go round Tokyo/Kansai. My 10 days in Kyoto/Osaka cost about 15k yen ICOCA credit. I blame myself for taking the bus for 2-3km ride . Not to mention getting on the wrong bus so many times. Just proved more to my AirBnB landlady Malaysians are lazy on our feet. Shinkansen costs 13900yen(Hikari reserved) from Tokyo to Kyoto.. Osaka tho a little bit more around 14500 yen perhaps. Not sure since I rode from Tokyo to Kyoto Then again, if you are taking 2 way ticket, its the same price as a 7-day pass. Personally I won't take night bus since most definitely I will not be able to sleep, or will be tired from journey. But I do know people who can sleep soundly with a snap of a finger. what about kansai wide pass. will be spending 5 days . arrive in osaka but no idea yet if its better to take kansai wide pass if want to visit kyoto and nara. but prefer to stay at osaka. day trip maybe. is it ok ? or not suitable . as we will be going with parent sibblings and 2 kids

If you going there for less than 10 days, just focus on the surrounding around of Kyoto and Osaka Just only Kyoto and Osaka can used up 8 days or more JR pass and JR area pass is not a must been to tokyo but first time here for osaka. yeah only 5 days so want to try kyoto nara n osaka. maybe will visit famous spot only just want to know what pass or card is suitable, for us to travel within that city TIA

QUOTE(Grimtooth @ Sep 12 2017, 12:47 PM) It's really up to you though. As i mentioned, I spent about 15k yen in Kansai with ICOCA.. including getting lost. And i got lost a lot I was a bit of an airhead when i go jalan-jalan there. Kansai wide pass costs.. 9k yen for 5 days? and 4.5k for kids. If i'm not mistaken you can't use the pass for buses? That a let down IMO since trains dont cover as wide as Tokyo.. So you will need to use bus way more here. my kids still below 5 so no need to buy yet. ya noted on that as well. myb consider with icoca/pasmo etc still googling

QUOTE(Keatsan @ Sep 18 2017, 09:48 AM) Only parents would understand that feel of bringing kids travelling.... My son doesn't like to sit still, hence the non stop climbing and constant need of moving. Therefore, the flight journey from KL <-> Japan would be...struggling for me and my wife. haha that one need to tackle him a bit lah. ipad etc. what to do bring a lot of toys. keep him munching on foods/snacks. so get him full n zzzz haha

QUOTE(sweet_pez @ Sep 27 2017, 12:00 PM) Wow change 2nd round summore I better text my friend. He works in MV, will just get his help hahahaha. Yes Google translate will help too. Unfortunately only one way communication (they can understand your question) coz you may encounter difficulties understanding their reply. One more tip, when you need to ask for direction/ help, look for Japanese ladies in their 20s or 30s. Chances are, they'll speak better English or have a higher chance of being able to communicate with you. The info was shared by an English portal on Japan-related news/ info. I recall it was based on a survey that was conducted in terms of the Japanese's English proficiency. And download/ get Google Image (the one where you take photo and get it to translate to English) although tt's not always accurate. At least you know what bread you're buying at the bakery. Most of the time I only see Japanese characters without any English translation. Now that I can read and understand some of the basic vocab, it's easier whenever I buy something. pls share yah if the rates getting lower
