Hi Guys, I'm planning to purchase air ticket to Japan for 2 weeks next year beginning of April. Has anyone taken the ANA flight before? How is its services? Is it good to go for this? Or I should avoid ANA?

if 2 weeks Tokyo & Hokkaido, will it be sufficient?

I will be traveling to Tokyo & Hokkaido ( Or maybe Kyoto ) between 1st May & 13th May. Is there any communication issue in Hokkaido? As I think resident there are not english literature. Will I face lots of communication issue in Hokkaido? Should I get a tour guide to assist my trip during hokkaido trip?

Is my trip date the best time to visit Hokkaido? As most of the activities are related to ice skiing. However during that time, it should be spring.

You'll face no less issues in Tokyo. Even in Shinjuku station (one of the main station), I have encountered station masters who could not speak English hahaha. But they're still very helpful.

Guides are expensive but if its not an issue for you then it's fine. Otherwise few things you can do is - use translator (Google translate), body language and learn few basic Japanese words. The experience will be enriching.

How about Hokkaido? Will there be any communication issue?

Most of the tourist spot, you might be able to find people that can speak English or maybe Chinese. Since Hokkaido is so big where in particular are you going to?

I don't have anything in mind for now as we just booked the air ticket. And we haven't started drafting the itinerary.

Guys, I'm currently doing my itinerary for my 15 days Japan trip. My wife and I have decided to visit Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo. Travel date wll be end of April.

I will arrive in Narita Airport, Tokyo early in the morning. However, according to my colleagues, they said there is nothing much in that area, and advise me to directly fly to Osaka, and play from Osaka all the way north to Tokyo.

Just wondering, which airport I should land in Osaka? There is Kansai, Kobe and Itami. Any ideas? Thanks.

Have you bought your ticket? If not why not fly to Tokyo/Osaka and then return from Osaka/Tokyo. Make no sense to make a u-turn back to Tokyo again.  Also if you arrived in Narita, it takes about an hour or two to reach downtown depending on the transportation mode you take. Settle down a bit and its time to shop. So I dont really understand what your friend says about nothing much to do.
*
I have bought the air ticket, midnight flight from Singapore to Narita, return is from Haneda to Singapore. Because that time my wife and me haven't decided where to go, that's why we bought the air ticket first. After that only deal with the location.

this is bad...u will b really wasting a lot of money...is this ur first time to japan? if yes i suggest just stay in tokyo and plan all those one day side trip instead of travelling all the way to kansai area and back again
*
This is my first time to Japan. I'm thinking of starting from Tokyo all the way to Osaka then fly back to Tokyo Haneda airport. The flight ticket time does not look so pleasing to me. Somehow if comparing with train, Train is even faster than flight for my case. haha

shinkansen from tokyo to osaka take about 3hours+ one way, return will take u about 1 day d and not to mention its not cheap. since its ur first time, just try to finish tokyo area first and dun rush thing. there r tons of stuff to do n places to visit. i live in tokyo a year also havent finish everything yet.
*
So u suggest to finish tokyo area first, then after that taking train to Kyoto, then Osaka. Then flight back to Tokyo?

15 days in Tokyo, I do not think my wife wants that >.<

Ahhh dilemma. >.<

She said.... we can enjoy scenary in the train and also eat bento. sweat.gif sweat.gif She such a freely gal.... wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif

It seems like this proposal rejected by my wife. sweat.gif sweat.gif

hmm...did u try explain to ur wife there r tons of things to do around tokyo? also may i ask did ur colleagues told u tht there is nothing much in tokyo?
*
Colleague said its around Narita area that is not much to visit except the temple, main Haneda he said definitely alot of stuff there.

I did explain to her. But she thinks that she wants to visit more other state. A lot of her fren and my fren as well took 2 weeks holiday and visit Osaka Kyoto and Tokyo. Knowing that schedule will definitely pack. But what I think is that she wants to experience everything like Bullet Train, having Bento in train. Scenary etc.

I kinda fine with 15 days Tokyo, cause I know that there is a lot of place that can go. ( Watch Japan Hour often and really there is a lot of nice place ).

ic, but do prepare to spend extra RM2k for two just to travel to osaka and bak to tokyo. well of coz there wont b much to do around airport area. anyway, mayb u should try check with ur airline how much extra will it be to change ur arrival to kansai (KIX) instead of Narita, tokyo. if its cheaper than the one way tickets to osaka from tokyo, then just change it.
assuming u follow my super rush two days kyoto itinerary on the 1st page, then USJ 1 day, u r left with two days in osaka, so u wont hv time for kobe d.
*
Will do. I will give a call to Singapore Airline helpdesk tonight.

QUOTE(sacwoc @ Oct 4 2017, 03:04 PM)
Dont understand the logic about Narita and Haneda. Both are in Tokyo and the difference are just the time/distance to the center. You are not going to spend your day in Haneda or NArita once you land right?
*
The reason is that, the return will be in Hanaeda Airport. So I'm just wondering whether we wan to spend the last few days in Tokyo and last day will go airport without rushing.

If we start from Tokyo. Until the last day, we have to flight ( or train ) from Osaka back to Haneda and take flight back to Singapore. I worry we will be very tired and worry about the delay.

yea but usually no one hang around Haneda or Narita airport. people usually just take express train to shibuya, shinjuku, and so on. so nothing much around there doesnt really have anything to do with Tokyo lol. should really try pursue ur wife to just stay in tokyo tho due to ur air tickets.
*
If i bought the 14 days train ticket ( not sure what it is called ). and spend 15 days in Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo. Possible?

I was in Tokyo 2nd week of March back in 2016. Some trees have sprout a little.
You may get to see some sakura, but not likely to be full of flowers wink.gif better than nothing right.
Yeah you can do Osaka-Kyoto-Tokyo with 7 days in kansai region and balance another week in Tokyo.

2 days @ USJ
2 days @ Osaka city
2 days @ Kyoto
1 day trip to Nara
1 day travelling (from Tokyo/ to Tokyo)

In Tokyo, you can spend the balance 6 days there till your flight back home.

All you need to additionally spend is your return shinkansen ticket. Seems like both of you can afford the shinkansen and that's what the wife wants - just go for it.  If she likes to shop, Tokyo will be really fun for her.
You're going USJ x 1 day? Only left with 5 days ya.

2 days Osaka, 2 days Kyoto and 1 day Kobe ah. Kobe is about 30min from Osaka by train, so you can do a day trip there. If you didn't want to spend 2 days in Kyoto (it's mostly temples), you can also do a day trip to Nara, which is 1hr away from Osaka by train biggrin.gif many flexi.
Yeah I was wondering the same thing too. A little confused over that part.
Hi sacwoc Hong Kong super hot wei laugh.gif
*
How much shinkansen ticket? You guys only bought multiple one way ticket or bought the unlimited 7 days ticket?

Got Hokuriku from airport-to-airport: http://hokuriku-arch-pass.com/en/
24,000yen

If it's the normal shinkansen pass, eg from Kyoto-Tokyo will cost ard 14,000yen one way.

Thanks for the info!!

I guess I will spend 7 days in Osaka, Kobe, Kyoto, Naba, and 7 days in Tokyo then. will make us of JR pass for 7 days unlimited. But I will check on the price first. I heard that getting JR Pass in Malaysia will be cheaper than getting it in Japan, am I correct?

After a huge discussion with my wife yesterday night, we have decided the following.

1) Reach Narita Airport at 8am. Will take train to Osaka straight from Airport.
2) Mainly visit Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe. ( Not sure any other place )
3) Take train from Kyoto back to Tokyo.

Question now is. I have 15 days in Japan. Here is the rough day allocation.

4 days Osaka
2 days Kyoto
2 days Kobe
7 days Tokyo.

Not sure whether I can slot in one more place or not. For example Nagoya. Will 4 days in Osaka overkill?

make kyoto 3 days instead and kobe make it a one day trip. 2 days will b too rush for kyoto especially when ur wife wan to relax n enjoy the scenery. 4 days in osaka is ok coz u r going to USJ 1 day, meaning u left 3 days, else u can make another 1 day trip to maybe Nara? its nice to c deer walking around on the street
*
Thanks for advice. How about this?

4 days Osaka
3 days Kyoto
1 day Kobe
1 day Nara
6 days Tokyo.

I also understand that USS the waiting time is very long. Are you guys really able to play every game in one day? Any good timing to go there without so much queue? When is the good day to visit USS? Monday?

Haha, the problem is.... I haven't been to any disneyland before ahaha.

I do not mind skipping disneyland cause I got plenty of chances to go, but for Disney SEA. Its a must for my situation
