Going to be using the bus from tokyo to Kyoto when I'm there so we took the plunge to cancel out last night airbnb and planning to wing it and stay in a love hotel near shinjuku.

how is it everyone is telling me Japan is expensive when all I need is 3200. everyone keeps on nagging me and my girlfriend to bring 8k. that's crazy. |

QUOTE(Grimtooth @ Sep 26 2017, 03:10 AM) It depends on how you decide to eat/sleep/travel over there. Mind elaborate further on the expenses? Btw RM200 is about 5k+ yen. QUOTE(chinti @ Sep 26 2017, 08:45 AM) it depends on wat u eat and so on. i used RM5k for 10 days the other day and this doesnt include shopping, only transportation and makan QUOTE(MR_alien @ Sep 26 2017, 09:09 AM) RM200/ day is just bare essential yo = food and transport and maybe entry tix, not including "yang lain-lain lagi" u go japan enjoy, not go there kuli trust me, once u reach JP...u wanna buy everything u see especially their food 90% of them are made and ONLY sold in japan, u won't see it in other countries so basically, u just buy buy buy but if you're very self discipline, just wanna go there eat and explore...RM200/day is enough BTW, a basic meal there starts from RM40(1k yen), so based on our standard...thats an expensive meal and thats just basic meal, if u want more interesting food, its gonna cost u and it can go way up but whats the point of going to JP and eat basic meal everyday anyway...hope this helps u QUOTE(midnightsunray @ Sep 26 2017, 10:59 AM) Japan is not expensive if you know what to do. For example, someone I know spent a lot of travelling because she didn't get a Suica/Passmo card (similar to Touch n Go) but paid for one-way trips all the time. If you are travelling long distance, best if you get the JR Line tickets in Malaysia which you can only buy outside of Japan. that's the thing guys. I did my excel and plan to the dot and didn't skimp on food we will even be doing kobe beef and the ramen and even take the Shinkansen from tokyo to Kyoto. For food, eat at convenient stores (konbini) such as Lawson, Family Mart, etc. Their food is 1000000x better than our local hipster cafes and it's so cheap you can cry tears of happiness. If you don't mind eating beef, Yoshinoya is a safe bet to budget on food too. If you can eat pork, Ichiran Ramen is a must-go and it's about RM30+ per bowl (basic set without extras). My advice in a nutshell: Bring some Japanese yen and USD dollars. Don't forget your credit card too. Oh, and get travel insurance. Hospitals in Japan are very expensive and they don't really layan foreigners so yeah... Anyways for sure I'll bring 8k. gonna be buying a shit tonne of Bandai and Tamiya military and star wars kits at akibahara for sure. Anyone wants my excel itinerary do request. I can post it up. |

QUOTE(HJ_Ishimori @ Sep 26 2017, 11:26 AM) If you are in Tokyo, you can buy Tokyo Metro Subway Pass at Haneda/Narita Airport - unlimited for 24hours, 48 hours, 72 hours. Applicable for Tokyo Metro Subway. You save a lot travel within Tokyo. I did my calculations right down to individual train tickets, between a pasmo/suica vs the subway pass. it's cheaper with the pasmo.the three day pass is only worth it if you take alot of rides but you won't actually when the places you visit can be segregated by zones and walking distances. also the pasmo can be used for luggage storage which I will be using when I travel from Tokyo to hakone for a day trip. |

QUOTE(chinti @ Sep 26 2017, 11:40 AM) kobe beef and shinkansen and u only need 3.2k? rmb to use credit card when buying gundam in yodobashi, extra discount with visa card. I'll post it up when I'm back from work. anyway, do share ur itinerary and i will add them to first page so other people might find it useful too QUOTE(Keatsan @ Sep 26 2017, 11:41 AM) HEHE. Your words " don't pay for gf travels bro. I learnt my lesson with previous gf." deep rings inside my sub-conscious. Jr pass is only worthwhile if you do a round trip from tokyo to other cities. not my cup of tea to do round trips. But I still paid for her regardless. Cause after that, she level up become waifu in Japan. During my journey, I paid for the 7 days JR pass x 2 |

Here you go, I had to cut out our airbnb for safety sake and you can add in whatever you like.
This two weeks trip covers Malaysia-Tokyo-Hakone (one night)- Kyoto- Koyasan- Osaka- Nara (day trip)- Osaka- Kobe (Day Trip)- Osaka -Malaysia -We do not like doing round trips as it wastes precious time and money and base on my estimation, its better you go get your IC card rather than get the JR Line ticket which costs close to a flight ticket. -Do not get the 3 day passes as you wont be spending 72myr in traveling in Tokyo base on my itinerary/ -Also note that in kyoto first day we are heading to a photo shoot and rental of Japanese tradional garments which will be worn during the tea ceremony and walking around kyoto. We plan to return the garments the next day Credit to my girlfriend whos makes travel itineraries for travelers. Keatsan heres my itinerary you requested cc chinti This post has been edited by Avangelice: Oct 5 2017, 11:53 AM Attached File(s)

QUOTE(merci @ Nov 10 2017, 09:36 PM) I agree with you 110% traveling to Japan flight and I made sure I sat with my girlfriend even if it cost extra. these cheap skates expect people to give in because they take advantage of their nicenessI've experienced when flying with MAS. I bought the front seat ie with the large legroom. After taking off, the FA came and ask me to change seat -to the 2nd sector seats because one couple want to be together. I said NO because I bought my seat and I want front seat. |

I'll remove Osaka from my next trip. next time I'll fly in Osaka straight go kyoto. really ruined my trip. we were at the Osaka wet market buying scallops and these two honkies cut our line and we found out the last two grilled scallops were sold to the brilliant ladies who cut our line.so far Tokyo was awesome, same with hakone and koyasan. kyoto was...too touristy |

QUOTE(sweet_pez @ Nov 13 2017, 11:47 AM) Hahaha good for them. But I don't understand why they're separated because if you check in together, the likelihood of sitting together is high especially since it's MAS. AA is a different case. they spoke honkie Cantonese. they dressed better than prcs and rude to the max. yuck:thumbsup:   Hongkies cut line? That's quite rare. I thought it's usually PRCs. |
