1. I m thinking of bringing them walk through Imperial Palace, Asakusa Area, Obaida, Tokyo Tower, and probably walk around Shinjuku.
2. Alternatively, if all these not so kin. May just settle with DisneySea.
3. I m wonder what else I can do there? Mount Fuji? Seems rush edy...

I m tried better sushi in Toyama back in June this year. Once has a thought crazy enough to go but... no la... they are not crazy enough like me n partner that can walk here n there... half marathon in a day... and it continues... based on my pebble steps counts.

Where to find a good omurice in Tokyo? Anyone come across?
*
If it is just a day, then it is best to just pick at most 3 spots as it tend to get dark early in February. I would skip Odaiba if I were you, unless you are interested in vintage cars or Toyota cars. Mt Fuji is close for hiking at that time, and the nearest you can get to is the 5th station. Mt Fuji is better to see from far like from Roppongi Hills, Shinjuku Metropolitan Building, etc. Asakusa alone will take you about 2 hours at least.

Great info... really!
Highly appreciated! Good and long info... Lots to read and dunno where should I began...

Alright... Tokyo. Its my family first time, so if go again or clash with my previous place I've been. It's all fine with me. It's their first time anyway. It will be unfair to them if I decide on places I've been and I dont like. And dont bring them there because of my past existing experience. It wont be fair. I always give second or third chance to the place I dont like and one day I will definitely go back again and try it in another way.

I'll probably follow this route as what you had suggested in Tokyo:
Water Taxi from Asakusa -> get off at Hamarikyu Garden (enjoy the garden) -> walk to Tsukiji -> walk to Imperial Palace -> walk to Tokyo Station.
Probably will squeeze in Ginza since Ginza nearby to Tsukiji (if time allow). And I will place Tokyo Tower on my arrival in the first day in Tokyo follow by Shibuya.

Will skip Hakone, Obaida, Nakano, Sengakuji. (some I've been edy) Will make Ameyoko street as my backup.

Yeah... Looks like i need to bring in more Yen edy. My last meal in Tsukiji breakfast only already exceed 3000 yen/pax, and I don't enjoy it. Too raw.

Considering this on my last day before heading back to Hokkaido. Tokyo Kappabashi shopping street. Will drop by awhile since my parents plus me are quite into those stuff... kitchenware.

Again. Thanks for the input! Now Tokyo itineraries are done. Looking into Asahikawa.
*
Please take note of Kappabashi closing hours - 1700. This is the homepage: http://www.kappabashi.or.jp/en/.
I have been there, and trust me, you will spend at lesat 2 hours!

usually u just walk through a normal custom check which is very fast then u go wait till they announced u can board again, just follow the rest of the passengers.
*
Or if you are running late, normally once you get down from the plane there will be airport staff waiting and rush you through.

*
Yup, new strategy from CX regarding DragonAir since they bought them. Anyway, food is quite nice in Dragon air.
However if you take business class, you dont get a full flat bed as both ways are consider regional. There is only one plane from HK to Narita which you get a full flat bed which is a 747. I think this is transit from US.

Simple search in ANA will tell you that it lands in both depending on the time.

Flights booked - AirAsiaX
Accommodation booked - AirBNB

Now have to plan itinerary. Going for Tokyo Motorshow. Anyone else going Motorshow as well?
*
I have been to previous motorshow in Tokyo. However its not as big as those in Geneva or Frankfurt. Another difference is that in TMS its more about girls than cars. smile.gif So you will find lots of people gathering to take photos of not only the cars but the models. smile.gif However compare to previous years, there are not many new launches in TMS. Try to get there earlier with tickets. You can buy it at most convenience store in Japan. If not you will spend some time lining up to get it. Also there are a lot of ticket touts outside as well, but I would not recommend that.

I will be buying the ticket online instead

Btw I saw the ticket option Senior High School Student,

[attachmentid=9168245]

Is it only for local japanese school students or available for all under 18?
*
That I have no idea. Better to check with the organizer. The homepage explanation is quite vague as well. IT states:
"The senior-high-school student rates also apply to students enrolled in automotive-related technical institutes/vocational high schools."

oh well, i have stroller and baby. my 鬼太郎茶屋 & Ghibli Museum trip need to ride bus. i think weekday not as crowded as weekend.. hopefully biggrin.gif
*
Actually buses in Tokyo are quite stroller friendly. Normally they allow 2 strollers to be "open" - means you do not need to fold it. However if the bus is crowded then you will need to fold it. My stroller was Stoke and normally I take the bus to Tokyo Station without the need of folding it.

Ok, another tips.. i know we can't throw rubbish as there is no trash can everywhere but really can't eat while walking??  blink.gif
*
Its normally not polite to eat while you are walking. Though sometimes I just dont care as I am too hungry and the damn train is not arriving. Also during winter I dont think you can eat ice cream outside while standing still. smile.gif

Guys, I'm currently doing my itinerary for my 15 days Japan trip. My wife and I have decided to visit Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo. Travel date wll be end of April.

I will arrive in Narita Airport, Tokyo early in the morning. However, according to my colleagues, they said there is nothing much in that area, and advise me to directly fly to Osaka, and play from Osaka all the way north to Tokyo.

Just wondering, which airport I should land in Osaka? There is Kansai, Kobe and Itami. Any ideas? Thanks.
*
Have you bought your ticket? If not why not fly to Tokyo/Osaka and then return from Osaka/Tokyo. Make no sense to make a u-turn back to Tokyo again. Also if you arrived in Narita, it takes about an hour or two to reach downtown depending on the transportation mode you take. Settle down a bit and its time to shop. So I dont really understand what your friend says about nothing much to do.

Colleague said its around Narita area that is not much to visit except the temple, main Haneda he said definitely alot of stuff there.

I did explain to her. But she thinks that she wants to visit more other state. A lot of her fren and my fren as well took 2 weeks holiday and visit Osaka Kyoto and Tokyo. Knowing that schedule will definitely pack. But what I think is that she wants to experience everything like Bullet Train, having Bento in train. Scenary etc.

I kinda fine with 15 days Tokyo, cause I know that there is a lot of place that can go. ( Watch Japan Hour often and really there is a lot of nice place ).
*
Dont understand the logic about Narita and Haneda. Both are in Tokyo and the difference are just the time/distance to the center. You are not going to spend your day in Haneda or NArita once you land right?

it's better than kobe? what's the price difference? I'm actually taking kobe beef at kobe
*
Yup its much better and its only sold in Japan. You can google it. You can even ask them to show you the birth certificate of the cow where it will have information about the breed. As for the price it varies from place and also the rank. Highest rank is A5.

hmm...i guess still affordable for a good meal. gotta go find a good restaurant for it d then, got any recommendation?
found this 1 seems pretty good reviews http://www.matsusaka-projects.com/restaura...ho/menu/#index2
*
During Rakuten sale, I managed to order 200gm of matsusaka beef that cost me about 10,000yen. I think it was on 70% discount and for the first 100people. Came with a certificate and I just "syabu syabu" it.

For fine dining I had kobe beef at Peninsula Hotel near Yurakucho about 3 years back. It was a set dinner I if I remember correctly it was just 100gm with salad, soup, dessert for 25000yen

Those are course meal price. Normally serving very low grade beef meat.
Even find dining restaurant also have to sell lower price meal to sustain the cost to pay bill and rental.

Lunch Hour Matsusaka beef course meal can get as low as 4k Yen, But same meal at Dinner become 12000 Yen ....LOL
*
Nope, I am looking at the dinner ala carte menu.

according to my japanese colleague...

Matsusaka beef's taste is similar to those average beef you can find in market.

why matsusaka beef is expensive because it famous because of it's name matsusaka.

can someone clarify?
*
Its not only the taste. The texture and the fat....it practically melts in your mouth. If taste its just average, the price would not be that crazy.

how to look for restaurant sale in rakuten?
*
You just have to go to Rakuten JP website and search. A few times a year they have a big sale. They will list out some items in advance that is on sale on certain time and limited quantity. So you have to be quick and fast. At that time there were about 100 pieces of matsusaka on sale, so it was easy for me to buy. Things that are really impossible to bid are like notebook, phones, cars that are 50% of the market price.

Yeah most phone already have it. It just shows how late Apple is adopting to new technology. smile.gif Or maybe you can say how they re engineer current technology. smile.gif
