newbie question, is it more profitable to mine for nicehash, or join a pool to mine for ethereum or zcash? has anybody tried both and got any actual numbers comparing nicehash vs pool?

QUOTE(cofin @ Jul 18 2017, 04:32 PM) On the volatility of the Bitcoins, Ethereum and Zcash ......which do you think had a potential that would be profitable in long run ? I was asking, if I mine ethereum through nicehash, vs if I mine ethereum through pool, minus nicehash/pool's fees, which one gets more ethereum in total?I guess no one can answer |

QUOTE(ethminerlowyat @ Jul 19 2017, 11:44 AM) Never ever use Jaxx for long term holding as you dont hold the private keys. What are good software wallet to use? i tried bitcoin and copay, seems easy to use, just wonder whether it is secure in case these websites disappear? (they claim there's recovery tool but the recovery tool seems to have online dependency too?)Only keep in wallets where you are in charge of the private key. |

QUOTE(Someonesim @ Aug 1 2017, 02:21 PM) Today BTC reaching 29XX USD again, wondering if should buy some if drop low again, and sell at high price point. if you buy, don't expect to sell for some time: https://www.cnbc.com/2017/07/31/bitcoin-to-...s-predicts.htmlWhat kind of range/increment would needed for this buy and sell to be profitable ? I think those coin exchange service provided charge not-small amount. |

QUOTE(wildan03 @ Aug 11 2017, 08:49 AM) I bought gtx 1060 3GB and did a casual mining. Acceptable, quite good for this card actually, this is the current state of mining -- cannot make profit after you factor in the high risk of your equipment koyak within 1 year due to 24x7 mining. Using nicehash, my earning/day is 1.47usd @ Equihash @ 261.12 Sol/s This is out of box performance, no modding etc. Is this acceptable or underperformed? even after modding, you are talking about AT MOST 10% additional earning, 1.47*1.1*4.3 = <RM7 per day, might as well buy bitcoin directly and enjoy the growth wave before it stabilize above USD5000 price point. Russia & China might also come out with specialized GPU mining machines which will make your GPU looks like toys, and your earning will drop further, they also enjoy very cheap electricity. |

QUOTE(zamans98 @ Aug 11 2017, 02:38 PM) What do u mean specialised GPU? I don't know the technicalities, but I believe Russia & China will have capabilities to design much more effective GPUs once they get serious about it.GPU is GPU, how special it can be? It's still NV-AMD GPU in the mining box. Nothing special. Russian has been, for the last 2 years trying to make PCIe ASIC card. Even prototype is not out, and China Baikal, Bitmain are laughing.. Here's an article today about Russia investing big into mining business: http://finance.jrj.com.cn/2017/08/10064922873370.shtml |

I plan to built 12 gpu rig, 6 nvidia 1060 + 6 amd.
Someone recommended Sapphire nitro rx 470 8gb, or RX 470 4gb mining edition. Can I get some opinion which rx card is better fit for my rig? |

I have been considering building a rig, can someone recommend which one is better setup? I think the cost and power usage is about the same?
* 6 GPU Nvidia P106 6GB mining cards (seems more supply in market?) * 6 GPU AMD RX 470 4GB mining cards (requires bios mod, more risky?) |

Need opinion... Nicehash BTC vs mine ETH from nanopool, which one gives higher return in terms of USD?
If I have about 200Mhs, what's the best pool/site to do mining? This post has been edited by klangboy83: Sep 1 2017, 03:27 AM |

QUOTE(zzerosz @ Sep 26 2017, 12:42 AM) Hi all Sifu here, im interested to get into the cryptocurrency mining as the side income. I've done some researches on this and I think I will build a GPU mining rig instead of getting an ASIC as I am more into ETH and zcash. Be careful with GPU mining, no more ROI with current rate!I have a budget of around RM10k to start on this. However, after looking for several guidelines on building GPU mining rig, but many of the guidelines didn't state about the ROI. Thus, I'm not sure how is the currentROI with my budget and with current difficulty level on mining. other than that, is it necessary to put the mining rig out from the house? Like renting a small office to put the rig? Because seems like the noise, heat and power supply will be troublesome if locate the mining rig in home. With current rate, it will take more than 1 year to recover your cost at current return rate. But you have to factor in that your return is decreasing at -20-30% every month, so, after 1 year, your won't get back your ROI because electricity cost is higher than your return already. For example: 1060 cost: 1400 June return: RM8.5/day July return: RM7/day August return: RM5.5/day Sep return: RM 4.5/day Oct? Nov? Dec?.... Electricity you can estimate roughly RM1/day/card + mining rig of CPU setup... + risk of card damaging after average 6 months... |
