Hi Guys,

Crypto currency Noob here K smile.gif, the Antminer L3+ mentioned abv, for USD6k, I know it's a dedicated miner (hope I got the word right), but what kind of returns are we looking at? And since it's dedicated, what abt breakdowns, parts and RMA's? Wouldnt running off the shelf parts (NVidia/AMD) gpu's be safer, I mean assuming running say 4 gpu's, if one breaksdown, you can still run the other 3 while the faulty goes for rma? Plus its much cheaper than USD6k right? Or is the Antminer L3+ much more powerful than say running X4 Gtx1080ti's? I'm not running 4 Ti's, nor am I planning to, just assumption and for comparison sake.

L3+ is for LTC.

You can't compare it to GPU based mining because they work with different coins.

Guys,

Is it true that by ETH moving to proof of work to proof of stake, wont require mining?

gpu better for home miner

Ic.. Thinking of running a minimum 6x Vega 56 to mine either eth and/or xmr.. Already got the stand and mobo, plus I hv a Corsair Ax1200i sitting in my cupboard fr a build that never materialised. Not sure to go ahead or not actually. 2 things come up to mind, can't ROI and the maintenance of mining rig, then both will be a waste of resource and time.

Vega 56/64 can run cryptonight better with a nice miner which you can find easily in bitcointalk. But the stock is a bit scarce locally i think. So I usually buy oversea and express shipping here, then pray for not faulty. Antminer you have pre-order and wait till next year for delivery, or get locally at expensive price. Or simply just invest coins and hold.

I'll just do abit more reading and see, not so sure to go ahead or not. So much wok involved with assembling a pc sweat.gif

Indeed need to put in some effort to start and manage it later. But it's all learning new things along the way, wouldn't seem so complicated after you slowly understand how to do it.

yesterday alone made RM8-9 just on cryptonight, R9 270X.

still got point.

i got myself a 750TI, that makes about RM2.50-4 a day. got it for RM50. already got back my ROI.

Thanks...encouraging news for me and newbies abt to enter into mining but what abt on Vega 56, Myb 4 to 6 or more, worth it?

Get a mobo that can support 6 gpu, power supply unit that can support 3 Vegas and start mining. If u satisfy with the outcome, get another psu and bridge with first psu, add on to the same mobo until fully 6 vegas. Cost you lesser in one shot and save you headache finding 6 units locally.

Tx , sounds reasonable, if it doesnt pan out, worse is I sell off the the 3 GPU's biggrin.gif

LOL, save some cost on ssd and ram by sharing a mobo. but the wires will be too messy for me to withstand. Not to mention looking for the rack that suits 19 gpu.

The mobo still works. But windows 10 used to support up to 8 gpu mining. Recently November fixed and support up to 12. So I don't think you can utilize the 19, unless Linux capable doing that.

Im not planning 19 cards for sure, max will be 8 i think. I just want to try to start with myb 3 cards like u all suggested and work up frm there. Dont want to be too ambitious since Im not even sure what to expect, plus how hot the place will be.

i'm using ver 008s - red & white pcb on 1060 6gb. Power using 6 pin gpu to its 6 pin slot.
AFAIK, you gotta beware those with molex to power connector, there's some cases of fried pcb to fried mobo, from what i google.

tried WinMiner, mine $10 then transfer as ETH to Coinbase. $0.10 as transfer fee  laugh.gif
it state need 50 network confirmation before the ETH become available to trade - how do i know it is available for trade? hmm.gif

i bought at SG. i think you can easily get it from taobao or locally at LYP.
do you plug in the pcie properly to the mobo? i face the same issue on 2nd pcie 3.0, but i did not get good look on it since my case is so cramp and hardly got space for my hand to move around. end up plug into 2.0 x4 pcie and works like wonder since then.
08s. can't go wrong with this.

now i'm wondering where i can find external GPU bracket to hook up 2 gpu.  hmm.gif

Tx.. Myb can try eBay, got my risers there
