What is your Crypto Mining Yield?

do follow this formula and share your stats:

Crypto Mining Yield = (M-B)*12/I

M=Last Month's Total Coins Mined in USDT
B=Last Month's electricity bill, converted to USD
I=Total Hardware & Software Investment Cost, converted to USD

To discuss further after gathering some initial stats, depending on your numbers contribution.

this is my initial test rig setup at a shoplot which is still running now.
electricity bill is about 800usd +- <- the place is for me to conduct various tests before i move to factory scale.

software cost is only about 10usd/year /rig, you got more can nego for bulk farm rate. <-- worth it if you are running 50 rigs and up, small setup like this one just use free versions, teamviewer, hive, nicehash itself.
Hardware investment for the setup above is about 50k usd. already ROI since this has been running since early 2020. after this it quickly escalate to a bigger picture which is inconvenient to share.

Current hardware pricing is a lot more higher than this.

Hi,

Would like to know when you using shoplot, do you use back the original wall plug or install new one?
Usually one plug can run how many devices?
Cause from what i know someone told me not to use 1 wall plug cannot be more than 2200watts. And also best to change the wall plug to higher amp.
Not sure how true it is.

And you using 3 phase since you in shoplot right?

Thanks
*
This one is hosted on a single phased shoplot, one 15A wall plug (usually for ac) can hold up to 3600w (power factor 1).

You can change wall plug to higher amp, or you can evenly distribute out your 60A /100A. Many ways to do and depending how much machine you are hosting, balantly go upgrade if your consumption not there tnb will charge you surcharge of the wastage electricity.

I ran one wall plug (15a) on 2 rigs of 6x 3090 + 6x 1660s. No issues, cable is cool.

You are limited by incoming also, main is 100A then you distribute to maybe 60A / phase or any configuration you might like.

Gpu mining is not like asic, 2 x 6x 3090 rig = 1 asic consumption.

Or 4x 6x 3070.

you need to know what you are doing or consult with a specialist before spending any money.

yeah, you can always request for return n refund if they shipped you a LHR ver

but how would you know if it's a LHR version?  Dell oem GPU doesn't have any labels on it except the nvidia light
unless you've tried mining with it only then you'll know?
*
gpu z or open up the card.
the last 0 has been replaced with a 2, so we're now looking at GA102-202.

Yes, dell cannot sell you LHR. reutn and refund means your 7k is with dell to roll for x amount of month, if you buy a card with the money already 3/8 paid when you receive your 7k smile.gif
Or more since yesterday panic selling the profit surge 300% rclxm9.gif yet to back to normal still better than earlier.

QUOTE(sleepwalker @ May 20 2021, 01:37 PM)
Nvidia has made it clear that LHR has to be stated clearly. So it is very likely if they use LHR, they will inform you. They can't just say that they have fulfilled your 3080 order when they give you a 3080 LHR. I placed my order back end of April with estimated delivery only in mid June. I only purchased this because it was the cheapest way to get a 3080. LHR or not does not matter but if I can get 3080 or 3080Ti LHR at RRP before Production I will cancel this order as I can build a much better machine since AMD CPUs are becoming available again. We are still waiting to see how much will LHR cards be selling for.

2021 plot twist.. By halving the number of hash rate.. miners end up buying twice the number of LHR cards (provided BTC/ETH goes back up to 2021 highs). LOL.
*
If the cost of acquiring 2 card is the same as acquiring 1x cmp or equivalent card, yes this would be the case. or just buy team red, difference for 6800xt and 3070 is about 25% cost to cost.
Prices in huaqiang bei is collapsing fyi.

Thanks for your reply.
Was planning in future if more than 2 rigs i will shift out of my house and setup at shoplot of rent a house.
But i think shoplot is much cheaper choice. 2nd or 3rd floor here can get RM500 to RM800.
I actually have spoke to so called specialist, but they keep trying to sell me "special service" to cut down the cost of electricity which i told them i do not want.

**I ran one wall plug (15a) on 2 rigs of 6x 3090 + 6x 1660s. No issues, cable is cool. Means 18 cards running on one wall plug???

btw, what do you think of chia mining? Worth to invest?

Thanks
*
I ran 18 cards on one wall plug, now avrg 12 cards per wall plug. It's safe, 18 is a little too much if your cables are thinner than 75mm. <-- I purposely over kill to try.

12 cards on 1 wall plug with a surge protector and overload indicated apc 8 plug now. <-- running w/o issues.

FYI residential is always more expensive as max tier consumption is 0.57 compared to shoplots 0.5 or less, depending on which tier.

If you rent just need to know which is which, don't need to upgrade. I runs on my shoplot warehouse so it's ok for me to do electrical upgrades since it's self asset.

Chia mining, do you like lottery?
If yes by all means go for it, I do it because I got server pc and workstations to write off, put them to use to try only. I won't invest in a new rig for it.

Yes, i just checked what you said.
Shoplot is cheaper. Price only 0.51 max tier.
But i saw one section is mining....is it means crypto mining? haha....price is much lower. 0.38 only.

lol for gpu mining since its so quiet i got put in malls before same .51 cents, got free centralized a/c, security. Nobody will suspect anything.
put mining rig at real mining sites makes the cards really dirty in a month, even with water cooling cleaning the rads is a tiring job. everytime you blast the dust will be absorbed by your gpu lol.

Yea that one, its cord quite thick, so you know if you overloaded just remove one plug or two. you cannot plug all 8 sockets full, most utilized also 6x or 3x depending on psu setup. i build with 2 psu to lessen the load, last time 1 psu the titanium ax1600 like hot potato. now with which ever psu as long as enough VGA for the rigs and both psu performs at half capacity.

i did thought about renting those cheap mall lots that usually no body wants, can be cheaper than renting shotlots and comes with aircon too

but the problem is the aircon wasn't 24x7, and it's switch on during mall operation hours only, at morning before the mall opens it can gets very hot & stuffy hmm.gif
*
Night time switch on your own A/C. Cheap mall better be careful, some electricity cannot support enough, so you might be mining at slight profit.
Hot and stuffy is because of your layout and thermal control measures, hot air always travel up.
Another point to be taken care of is dust control on accumulation on your gpu heatsink. i have clean them every 3 months with compressed air.

Mining at shopping mall, first time heard this!  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif Talk to you let my mind opened! hahaha....
Like this i can mine at office building, now my area office space super super cheap!!! icon_idea.gif  icon_idea.gif  icon_idea.gif
But most of the building now no people rent, so go toilet abit scare la....haha

Too bad now still looking high and low for cards....price damn high now.

Really nice talking to you!
*
Sure why not, as long as the office space has ok security just go with it. i am mining in vacant office space also since office market so bad very hard to rent out haha

cards look from overseas, 3080 about RM 5 to 6k per piece only. need to commit to moq.
i only source for local in my initial stage, now and then also get some local stock to support local vendor other than that mostly consist from overseas, got to swim upstream for cards. down stream cannot supply enough.

Hi fellow miners. I just got my R12 Alienware with a 3080 and did some casual mining. Sadly, I am getting only about 60MHs even aft tweaking the afterburner. Am expecting about 80MHs for a 3080. Kindly appreciate some advice on this. You guys can see more details in the screenshots below.
Based on my my device ID, I can safely say it's the current 3080 version not the LHR version. Am i right?https://imgur.com/a/WXpqyd1

Looks like a thermal throttling at vram to me, download hwinfo to check, upgrade your thermal pads and paste.
try take out and mine on other case, and bump the power to 220w and slowly draw down, vram also slowly increase, dont one shot 1200. <-- usually for you to do stable 91 mh/s but rather tiring due to manual work of replacing thermal pads very soon.
Best to mine on other case because alienware has more form over functions.

People tend to forget nvida has vram overheating issues, opt for 3090 is because its the only one with vram sensor easier for you diagnose with gpuz, or team red they can check junction but with lower hashrate.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Successfully repasted my gpu with noctua thermal paste for a quick fix. Peeled the stickers in my 3080 and kept it somewhere else.

Hashrate and vram temp is getting abit better, 85+ MHs at 95-100c. I'm assuming my card is less fortunate with silicon quality.

I guess slight improvement is better than no improvement at all. Wanting to change this to a diff casing but not really a technical person when it comes to PC. Even repasting the GPU scared me alot. Wouldn't want to brick the GPU lol
*
No, nvidia cards are notorious with vrams temp. especially 3080.
3090 can go scorching hot since it can oc for over 400w, 3080 can go over 300w on the card, providing very very good performance for both leaving amd eat dust.
That being said, thermals are pain to manage, mainly i have them submerge under water. air cooled units changing thermal pads and paste every 3 months or less to maintain hashrate above 88mh/s.

Centralized a/c room also die unless you runs it in a freezer or multiple a/c units. a room with 24 > x 3090 / 3080 with a/c is like a sauna room.
whereas 3070/ 3060ti is better.

have you seen how thick of the heatsink are the top tiered 3080/3090.

I've had gigabyte fan 100%, gpu temp 50C and Vram over 100C causing performance drop in both mining and actual usage. Xtreme version somemore sweat.gif

Ah I can't imagine the temp of your mining room  sweat.gif Sounds like a lot of maintenance needed to keep your GPU running at optimal condition. I guess no ezmonies in this world tongue.gif  How long have you been mining with your rig if you don't mind me asking? Any of your GPU died while mining? *touchwood*
*
not that hot with proper management, about 27 to 29C, rainy days are better.

Yes maintenance is required, hard work if you do it yourself. got to have various systems and sop in place to have it running at optimum condition.

Its easy money, infact only hurdle is capital and liquidity management, the rest are easier than it looks.

1 years and 8 months from the 5700xt till 30 series,

Non gpu died till now, so far so good, a lot of lesson learned along the way. Asics are more prone to breakdown compared to GPU. and bloody loud too.

On current hardware climate and crypto pricing, we just have to pray the storm would settle soon so we can continue to harvest money on the side.

What do you think it's a fair price to buy these used cards? Let's say for all the 30 series. Thanks. Needed a benchmark
*
You decide, willing buyer willing seller. fyi LHR might or might not drive the non LHR variant up, but it will not be cheaper than non LHR. most likely will go on par, market needed some time to recover.
say people buy 7k takes about 10 months to break even, you do the maths and nego with the seller.

Bulk players cost for 3070 is about 4.8k or less on current timing, 5.8k or less for 3080, 7 to 8.5k 3090.
profit driven enterprise maybe will sell slightly markup or about cost or lower. longer player avrg cost is about 3k +- per 3070, 4k+- 3080.

With recent massive price dip on btc and eth, I dun think it make sense to purchase any overpriced gpu for mining now.
My little mining rig still running, but everyday i only can see my wallet balance in RM value is getting lesser  cry.gif  moneyflies.gif
*
Better dont buy inflated price GPU, if its within your means or buying purely from mining profits, just go for it.
Current eth profits are about 1 year ago pricing when its 6 months to breakeven on launch pricing. current pricing will take years to break even if you only mine and do nothing else.

Asic on the other hand can totally consider the newer variant

unlikely so, unless eth drop below 400usd, then maybe people might be selling their 30 series, its still ok money considering can make 1k usd still for 6x gpu rig monthly for current pricing.

QUOTE(greyshadow @ May 24 2021, 09:41 AM)
I think Dell will see sudden mass cancellation of their alienware R12 or the XPS with the bubble burst recently tongue.gif

but I guess most of the miner is still observing the situation, to see if the bubble is real or not, or just a temporary mirage

Don't think we'll see used mining cards flooding the market so soon in a week or two, probably another few more months if the crypto market is still on the down trend.
*
Miner will either exit after eth or mine other not so profitable coins, regardless there are still money to be made.
It is still good when you make money by switching on electricity only. Maybe older cards will be disposed but not the latest ones, who wants to make a loss on capital when you leave it there will be still profits in the end of the day.

you see people dispose only those machine when you turn on making a loss or older cards which is un mineable due to dag file size. unless 8gb is being phased out soon, else rarely people will dispose the cards.
not so profitable coins generate more heat compared to eth, thats why its less desirable.

most asic available for cheap are those making a loss, even i got renewable sources i wont turn them on also. too much of work to keep them relevant.
Lets monitor how this goes and hopefully it turns out well for all, be greedy when the whole world is panic selling lol.

i think for now just buy and mine la what ever card without the lhr you can find, since we dont know how the is the lhr and Nvidia whether want to lelong their cmp cards since eth mining days are shortening by the clock.

Because stock is king, dont get into situation when you got money and no cards to buy, or got cards also not enough to build a 6x or 8x rig.

Maintain a healthy balance sheet and liquidity, continue to mine until nothing left to mine lol.

alternatively get into chia mining or build monero mining rigs lol <-- it makes sense if you have quantity. ROI in a year not included monero value rising, since regulation bodies will be targeting crypto, privacy tokens will be flourishing very soon, depending how efficient are the goverments shaking the landscape.

Monero is better than the underground banks btw, even ccp dont know how much money is in and out everyday.

nice, palit 3060ti please replace thermal pads and paste for better performance and temperature.
can get steady 60 to 61 mh/s @ 120w. and to turn off the led lights also will boost a little bit on efficiency.

dont worry about pricing, as long as your rig is always on the money is coming back thumbsup.gif

Thanks for your advise, any site for good overclock undervolte guide ??
*
start with CC -502( or directly start -200) and adjust up mem clock +750 onwards
i usually do power reduces to lowest +5% and gradually up. that way usually you will start with 58/ 59mh/s, will take you about 10 mins to fine tune. <-- if you dont have a lot of cards to do.

If you are doing all 6/8 cards together, use paid versions of hive, awesome miner to let them self optimized / self oc.

OC and undervolt by yourself is the best since not all silicon is the same, there are slight variance each hence differences in efficiency. best i am doing with 3070 and 3060ti is 58%. highest for gpu rated for efficiency and thermals. junction point about 70+-C Vram i estimate about there also.

Bad news for people who invested too much in crytpo-mining equipments:  "After multiple blackouts, Iran bans cryptocurrency mining for 4 months."

Could other country make same kind of rules? So maybe the equipments will go cheaper, or maybe mining will be harder to do.

https://soyacincau.com/2021/05/27/after-mul...g-for-4-months/
*
Do understand more about energy first, people who invested too much isnt affected as not much malaysian operators in iran,
Iran tariff is super cheap btw. Players are flocking to Kazakhstan from Iran to balance out. Some planning to US/ Canada since Elon said they will invest more in renewables.
Things might change if someone going to invest in Iran, and get a new dictator to suppress the trouble makers there.

How much of a free fall are you expecting ? new asics are almost sold out as soon as they are on shelves. Gpu the same.
Mining difficulties are climbing as more hashrates is available, infact more country to close down crypto mining means easier for you to mine for profits.

Iran themselves profited for more than 1 b usd on selling electricity, they just want to catch people stealing electricity to mine so they can balance their coffers and build better infra for it. Tnb makes so much more money than iran on tariffs to tariffs.

Ethermine, for slightly better payouts about 1 to 5% depending on days. To be knocked off with high gas fees.

Phoenix miner is still safe to use, check with their developers.

Binance pool ping is high, no matter which port is the same. They might be running geo latency server, maybe some of you has ways to reduce pings do share. They offer the best convenience due to pool withdrawal to exchange or to pop.

Nicehash has its highs and lows, I used profit switcher based on a few rates prescribed. So it will switch between binance, nicehash, ethermine.

If you mine long enough you average down, payouts is really similar. In the end of the day your hash rates determines your payout.

Unmineable, technically is mining eth, monero and convert it to the coins of your choice on a terrible exchange rate.

Unless you do it for fun, for profit better stay away from it.
And yes it will not apply oc profile also, you need to overclock your gpu/cpu yourself to prevent hardware failure.
