hey all,
my cousin's interested in getting a 400D from canon. why? coz she prefers the colours of canon. anywyas, that's not open for debate biggrin.gif.

the thing is, she is willing to sell her d70s to me, and go for this 400D. she's apparetnly getting a VERY VERY VERY good price for the 400D. 2 lenses for a very cheap price. her firend's a dealer

the 70S she BOUGHT is a YEAR OLD, and bought at a price of RM3627 inclusive of 2 batts lens and filter.
so if you were me, how much would u offer to buy the 70S from her? (she's not a heavy user, so shutter count is good)

~1600-1800 body only depends on cond.

QUOTE(scorgio @ Mar 26 2007, 11:33 PM)
Around RM1800-2000 (body + 2 batts).
The DX 18-70mm is worth around RM600 in the used market.

actually.. i pity her...
buying it for half the price... i dont' want to 'potong' her like that.

lowest price, u guys saying RM1600 .... wah... it's like more than half the price. then some suggested RM2000.... good amount, but i feel still too low.

so i'm offering her RM2500 max for her d70s.... okay right?
i mean, i'm sure shutter count also dun have 2k.

so waht's a good price? 2300?
Rm2000?!

i mean, the MOST u would pay for a d70s.
dont' forget yeah, she takes good care of cameras, and i'm SURE shutter count is under 2k. maybe even under 1k.

no i agree with u guys. if it's some stranger on the road... i will ask for RM1600. the thing is this is a very close cousin. and her husband is a financial planner. so selling her d70s to get a 400D (with two lenses) and losing half the price of what she paid for her d70s, i think she'll be smart enough not to change. also close cousin ,i dont' want her rugi.

she helping me what. if i dont' get her d70s, i need to get 350D, which is RM2300 - lousier than d70s. so i rugi.

what u guys think? u see my logic? so with a MAX budget of RM2500, which do u recommend? i'm thinking this d70s, d40, and 350d.

how much is d40x btw? but i dont' like. 3 focus points. and no motor in the body for af.

again, remeber .... gua nih NUB giler smile.gif so i'm sorry if i'm repeating myself or making stupid comments. i highly regard u ppl here in lowyat. u're my camera sifus! smile.gif

^henry.... two lenses is for the new canon 400D she's interested in. not the d70s she wants to sell to me

what i get from her for RMXXXX is d70s kit, extra battery, filters, tripod, camera bag, memory card smile.gif

i know what's at stake sinister. thanks for ur advise. anwyas ,i'm trying to reduce it now.

i do agree with u guys, i'm paying more for it. no denying that.

but sinister, with RM2500, what DSLR (brand new) cna i get now smile.gif that's my quesiton smile.gif (ironically, rhetorical)
awyays, i hear u loud and clear.
again, thanks

Canon 250d as compared to this d70s, whcih would u go for.

fyi, as i'm so noob... i tried out both cameras, but i can't tell the difference between them... ofcourse i like the hqand grip of d70s. i've got big hands.

it's a choice btw these two cameras now smile.gif

nice sacarsm there.
i will try to explain :

on paper, and by reviews online, obviously d70s pwns 350D. that's why i said, d70s better, and that's why i'm considering my cousin's camera, HENCE this lengthy discussion and the stream of questions coming from me.

HOWEVER

actually TRYING those units, i can't really see the difference... reason?
i'm new to DSLRs. i've been using compact cams all this while. using the viewfinder takese time to get used to. using the manual functions takes time to get used to etc. hence, all i compare is based on the hand grip, the LCD as well as the monochrome LCD present on the top of d70s, number of focus points, and the screen size (which makes no difference to the photos). it's like comparing a ferrari spider with a CL65 (mercedes). i can't tell the difference coz, they're all new territory to me (haven't driven either). but ask me, which i THINk is better, i'd say ferrari spider. i'm quite sure when i drive them, i can't tell the difference either.

bottom line? : on paper we know which pawns which. actually using and shooting it, that i can't tell. hence my inquiry directed at u camera gurus.

have i explained enough?

will keep that in mind smile.gif

Added on March 28, 2007, 11:17 ambtw, that's one of the reasons my cousin wants to change to a 400D. she says she doesn't like the colour of the nikon d70s.

and now u're the second person saying so. (thanks)

hah!

henry, WB, what's wrong with it? not accurate the WB? u said "i love sharp more than soft"

is the d70s sharp or soft? why? coz of WB?

UPDATE: i'm still waiting for my cousin to get back to me, on whether or not she'll sell d70s to me

O_o!! how so? how come 350d better viewfinder?
as i read 350d uses pentamirror and d70s uses pentaprism (which i read is better)
when i treid them , i didn't really pay attention to the 'quality' of the viewfinder.

are u talking about the focus points present in the viewfinder? yeah... theni agree..350d has 2 more focus points than d70s.

ahaha i've been reading sommore online, and now, they say d70s is old technooloogy...like the ken rockwell guy, he rather go for d40.

QUOTE(nairud @ Mar 29 2007, 09:20 AM)
Read more then.... then decide decide decide, D40x comes out, ppl say d40x is better, then you read read read, whoa, D3x comes out, it's better somemore... you read and decide whether you want to buy or not, read read read, then cheaper than D3x body comes out, D80h, ...

ya get what i mean? tongue.gif
*
heh, i dig ya... .word, man, word.
nah... now actually, i have no choice, i HAVE to wait. my cousin's still deciding.
so if she takes a rain check, i'll join u nairud - 350D it is! smile.gif nah, i dont' have good impression of the d40. no offence to any here, it's my personal preference.

QUOTE(clemong_888 @ Mar 29 2007, 09:34 AM)
350d has a 0.85 magnification while the the d70s only has a 0.75 one.

there are advantages of the d40 over the d70s, primarily to do with image processing. what it lacks in is a 3 point af, no af for non af-s lenses.
*
clemong, thanks for feedback. mangnification, i have read about. but i was more concerend abotu the clarity/ brightness of the viewfinder, apparently pentaprism is mroe uber than pentamirror smile.gif heh.. im' just 'vomitting' out what i read.

yeah, that's why i don't want the d40.

anwyyas, i've made up my mind folks. if ms. cousin decides on selling, then it's the d70s. or else, 350d.

thanks for all ur help. i REALLY appreciate it. makes me happy after buying either camera... for the thought process and comparison has been done, i would feel its more 'valuable', don't you agree?

as you guys have always said, it's all (most of the time) about the shooter not the camera. it's the skills. smile.gif
kudos to u guys. appreciate it.

Added on April 5, 2007, 5:16 pmjust so that u know, i bought my cousin's d70s.
RM2250 -
d70s body,
kit lens,
2 batteries,
charger
1gb CF card,
camera Bag,

i'm happy with my purchase, and i'm sure she's happy with hers.

i JUST went to collect the 400D for her. yea, she bought the 400D and i went to pay and collect it (she's working - busy)
she got a really really really good price for it. think below RM3000. DON"T ask me how much, coz, i'd get ppl in trouble.

but yeah, it's nice to see the 400D and it's nice to get to play with her d70s. effectively, i've got two new cameras smile.gif
thansk for all ur feedback. really appreciate it.
