It's been days already Zorah doesn't come out randomly. I am currently supposed to take on to fight Nerg 1st time and eversince then, Zorah doesn't appear. Is this intended?

Kirin is a speed type, so you have to keep up with it. Any other weapons besides high Elderseal is useless against it. Thunderproof mantle is a total must. Especially tempered Kirin.

Odogaron is fast but dangerous. You can either play defensive with GL or fast with Dualblades. It will help alot to wear bleeding resistance armor so you would have 1 less thing to worry about. If you don't have Odogaron's armor, Baan armor can help since it has bleeding resistance on it. Once you have enough of materials, you can switch to Odogaron armor.

Still dilemma choosing SA or CB
*
CB is a very tactical weapon. Missed one step, effectiveness will be useless. Need alot of practice before start hunting. As you progress further, if you don't master your weapon properly, you will get killed very easily. SA is easy to use but the length of attack is hard to keep track. I started off with SA but I realized I missed alot because I was quite far from my target for my axe to reach.

Hmm. mine different. when i use CB, i am hardly to hit the boss when i use the sword. maybe im too scare of it?. not to mention, charging shield and blade.
SA, hmm. maybe because the range of the axe and big sword, i can land my hit nicely on the monster. laugh.gif
*
Like I said, it's very tactical using CB. The smaller the weapon, the nearer you need to be, which is alright because you need to learn to dodge anyways. Sword and shield mode is easy. Charging the shield and unleashing the power requires timing. If you are too afraid to be in close range of monsters, then I would advise you to avoid dual blades as they are require hit and run strategies. If you want to shield yourself, I can suggest using Gunlance. Slow, but it is one of the best shields in the game. Not as tactical as CB.

Kulve is not an easy task. You will need a group and each people need to know what to do. Also the drops are random so pray to RNGesus to be kind

guys im new player here. pc version, keep dying fighting diablos it's so annoying... bangwall.gif
*
Diablos hits like a truck. Depending on the weapon, if you are not used to him, I highly suggest go defend mode first. Use the paralyzing gunlance(the great Girros tree and he is weak to paralysis). Study his movements while blocking. Gunlance is slow, but very effective to keep your hp safe. Every time he burrows underground, run as far as you can and Superman dive or if you have enough screaming pods, shoot the hole and he will bounce right back up. Tip: the moment he goes underground before the tail goes under, stop attacking and start running. I am a DB main and I couldn't win him properly (since it is my first time playing MHW) so I switched to GL. Once I gotten used to his tactics, I switched back to my ice DB and I own him alot faster. Even quicker once I gotten Fire and Ice DB. You haven't run into Black Diablos yet. She hits even harder and her burrowing is more random than Diablos. Diablos burrows in a straight line but Black Diablos burrows zigzag. Good luck and hope to hear your updates for him.

i study his movement already and manage to kill it for few times. by the way im using charge blade with 3 armor skill "artillery" level 3. my attack windows is the moment it bounce back up after right the dive. when it dive in time i just evade and prepare aiming to hit the spot it bounce up. takes time and need passion. currently at HR12 and  trying to find some multiplayer games but PC version the connection issue is very very bad can't manage to get any game keep DC.

Charge blade is a very tactical weapon to use. I can see you are quite used to it but there are a few moves to use the charge blade more effectively. You can try watching Arekzz videos on Youtube. He has a tutorial on CBs in which you can take some of the tips to use it better. Also I never played any multiplayer at all. I been solo-ing from start till finish(of course not including some multiplayer related monsters like Kulve and Behemoth). Since you are saying you managed to kill it a few times, I am guessing you are saying your winning ratio is alot worst than your losing, eh? Well, you better do be prepared for Black Diablos when you reach high rank battles. It will be a helluva ride. biggrin.gif

yeah took me many hours to train it lol, get used to it already judging the moment when to charge it plus evade. lol black diablos sounds badass... anyway currently just over high rank anajath...now aiming for high rank rathian. and my next quest is the pink rathian, not even thinking about it lol.. waiting for multiplayer to play it  biggrin.gif

Every monster can be done easily in solo. Multiplayer just makes the monster stronger and more HP to chop off, in which I hope you realize it. Beginner high rank armor you can go with Zorah's. Once you fight with Odogaron High Rank( I highly recommend farm for Radobaan HR alpha armor which has bleed proof so you have to worry less about your hp being cut everytime you move), farm for his alpha armor. The armor's skill will be enough to bring you towards end game. If you have trouble with normal Diablos, Black Diablos will be a nightmare for you.

omg i just google and found out im running the wrong setup for charge blade... my gear i max out the ARTILLERY skill stat to level 3 where else my weapon im using "elemental elemental phial"
after googled only they said ARTILLERY skills only works on "Impact phial" charge blade... doh.gif
the ARTILLERY skill set i think they really misleading written "Strengthens explosive attacks like gunlance shells, Wyvern's Fire, charge blade phial attacks, and sticky ammo."!

i though was increasing the charge blade attacks but there didn't stated is "impact phial" charge blade...
now im gonna give up my elemental thunder charge blade and farm for material to craft the impact charge blade...
so all this while im wasting 3 armor set with the stat of ARTILLERY...
*
Artillery is mostly good for range weapons. You should be using jewels that increase the weapon's damage. But as you just entered High Rank, you don't have much choices.

Hi all,

Been playing this game for the pass few days, still in story mode but so far so good I'm enjoying it.

However, since I played in handheld before (PSP to 3DS, consider veteran la lol), I wasn't convinced MHW will be the same due to the changes, therefore not willing to spend full money on it, so I bought a second hand games.

So here I wonder, what's included in the disk? Is there any drawback/disadvantage or stuff I missed for using a used game?
*
Not exactly. The game will come with a Origin armor(which is partially alright for starters) and a Wind charm(+1 Attack and +1 divine blessing).

Behemoth is not advisable to do solo. It is supposedly to be a multiplayer quest.

Is this game difficult to play? Feel i intimidated to pick this up despite the rave reviews.. i am usually just a casual gamer who doesnt like too challenging game. But i enjoy horizon zero dawn very much ..esp hunting machine. Are both same fame style?
*
This game is all about 'git gud'. Basically, there is no 'character leveling'. As you progress into the games, the monsters gets stronger but so does the weapons and armor you craft. It maybe abit repetitive, but each situation is different. Nothing is scripted nor every battles are the same. It is all about how you study the monster's attack and how well you use the weapon of your choice. Some play speed, while some play range while others play hard hitters. MHW is considered my first official MH game and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

thank you for the reply. i dont hv ps plus, will i be able to clear the story solo? i quite noob in gaming so challenging game  actually  innocent.gif

That is only for multiplayer purpose. I been solo-ing the whole game. You can finish the story mode on your own, no issues, but as mentioned, it requires you to 'git gud'. Studying the monster attacks and how good you are using the weapon of choice. As a casual player, patience is the key. Don't expect a hunt to end within 5 minutes. Expect a hunt to end within 20 minutes(real time) average. Multiplayer comes in when the monster is designed to be multiplayer (such as Kulve Tarroth and Behemoth) but majority of the monsters can be done solo. If you play multiplayer, monster's hp are higher and hope that you get a good team(unless you play with your friends coz 1 person's screw up can ruin the hunt easily), so it is easier and faster if you do it solo. This game really need to take your own sweet time to play. You can't rush in this game. You rush, you lose.

Hey guys, I am currently going to do the Blackveil Vaal. Thing is that I have been using my Tigrex armor for quite awhile and I need an upgrade. I maxed out the armor def I could currently. The issue is that I can't seem to find a full armor or mix armor that works for my dual blades build. Tigrex armor seems to be the best for me no matter where I see but at 750+ def, it is not gonna last long against elder dragons. Here is what I have so far;

Speed eating level 3
Critical eye level 4+necklace level 3
Attack level 4
Health boost level 3
Earplugs level 5

I can't remember the other skills but these are the important stats for me. So my question is what kind of mixed armor set with higher def can I use but got nearly as good as Tigrex's skills? I am thinking of wearing Velkhana Beta armor but losing the level 4 attack skill and speed eating level 3 is kinda risky for me. I am willing to let go earplugs skill but I really can't think of any mix armor which is good with my current skills. Speed eating has been seriously helpful for me to get healed asap without taking too much time. Any advice would help.

Damn it, Shara got the best of me. 3 battles in a row. Obviously I get exhausted. I read in the forum that some people actually managed to beat it using only full tigrex. And here I am, using full Blackveil beta just for higher defenses. Not sure if I am gonna regret using Tigrex armor again. Graahh! Gonna try it again tomorrow.

Okay, I switched back to Tigrex armor and so far the best I could slot with skills to go against Shara are below;

Critical eye lvl 7
Attack lvl 7
Earplugs lvl 5
Health boost lvl 3
Speed eating lvl 3
Mirewalker lvl 1
Free meal lvl 1
Fortitude lvl 1

I am not sure if I should slot out Free meal and put in another Mirewalker instead. Still pissed for losing yesterday

The purpose of wearing the Tigrex armour is to maximise the usage of 75% Free Meal chance.
But you can wear 2 piece Blackveil beta for the constant healing, while keeping the Tigrex's 75% Free Meal chance.

My suggestion :
Discard the Critical Eye & Attack.
For offence purpose you should be adding Weakness Exploit & Critical Boost first until it maxes, then only add Critical Eye and lastly Attack.

Suggested setup :
user posted imageuser posted image

Use :
Defense Boost charm or Divine Blessing Level 3 charm.
Stun Resistance Level 3
Health Boost Level 3 (by any combo of Level 4 decos that helps your play style)
Free Meal Level 3
& then any other type of skills that helps your play style.

Bring :
10 Mega Potion
10 Potion + 10 Honey (to make Mega Potions)
5 Dash Juice
10 Might Seed
10 Adamant Seed

Concentrate on survival first and attacking second.
Equip your Palico with Vigourwasp heal.

You can also consider using a Rarity 6 weapons with single to triple Health Regeneration augments.

Hmmm...I don't have your vitality/combo jewel. I have like 2 satiated/attack jewel. Hmm...I will see what I can I do to change it up abit to get max level 3 free meal.

I believe Hattori setup would suit you best. Stun resistance is a must. In case you don't have enough jewel max out free meal, just bring farcaster. It's a lifesaver. In fact, rather than max out free meal, I would spend them on attack or defense skill.

Just my 2 cents.
*
Actually, I do have several free meal jewels to max out. Prolly to exchange with crit eye instead then. Need to mess around with the jewels again.
