We're proud to pay tribute to the largest amphibious operation in military history. Three brand-new Operations inspired by the Normandy landings are on their way to you.

Eighty years ago, the world held its breath as the largest amphibious operation in the history of humankind began to unfold. The colossal invasion force of the Allied armies assembled in Southern England and anxiously awaited fair weather to board their craft and cross the English Channel.

Navies of eight different nations rallied with nearly 7,000 ships of all types and they would undertake the mammoth task of transporting the Allied armies to France. Fortress Europe was awaiting them on the other side…

The D-Day landings on the Normandy beaches in the early morning of June 6, 1944, would mark the beginning of the Allied offensive in Western Europe that took them all the way to victory.

World of Warships invites you to join us in remembering the bravery, dedication, and determination of those soldiers who stormed the beaches. Their legendary heroism inspired us to create a new temporary event: "D-Day".

This June marks the 80th anniversary of the largest amphibious operation in military history.

Picture the scene: a colossal Allied invasion force has assembled in Southern England, anxiously awaiting fair weather to board their craft and cross the English Channel. The navies of eight different nations have rallied with nearly 7,000 ships of all types, ready to undertake the mammoth task of transporting the invasion forces to France. The Allied invasion of Normandy, also known as D-Day and Operation Neptune, is set to lay the foundation for the liberation of Western Europe from Axis occupation.

In dedication to these grand events, we're launching three new event Operations inspired by real naval actions off the Normandy coastline. These Operations arrive as a separate battle type, each lasting for 2 weeks. The first one will become available in Update 13.4, while the other two Operations will arrive in Update 13.5.

You may remember from previous thematic Operations that we typically have several difficulty levels to choose from, with each level increasing the difficulty of completing the Operation. For D-Day, we're switching things up: each of the three unique Operations will have only a single difficulty level, and finishing the primary tasks will not be the hardest part. Instead, the secondary tasks will yield you Stars and present a variety of entertaining challenges to all levels of players.

D-Day 80th Anniversary: Atlantic Wall Defense Operation

The Allied assault on Omaha Beach inspired the second Operation in our D-Day event, and it was in this sector that the fiercest opposition to the invasion was historically encountered. With players now set to experience the war from the other side and take command of German destroyers, a complicated task is ahead.

You'll sail Tier V–VII German destroyers during the second Operation, and special rental ships will be provided to all players. Even if you own eligible ships for the Operation, we definitely recommend testing the rentals out—they have very unique configurations. All four are variants of German Tier VII destroyer Z-31.

D-Day 80th Anniversary: Omaha Beach Assault Operation

Once again on the Allied side, you'll be tasked with saving the stranded crews of disabled Allied ships and breaching the walls of Fortress Europe to bring victory within the grasp of the continent's occupied nations.

During the Operation, you'll fight at the helms of Tier V–VII destroyers, cruisers, and battleships of the nations that participated in the landings. Don't worry if you don't have any suitable ships; we'll provide you with Tier VI Crusier La Galissonnière
