Brit standard socket is designed to be the safest. The earth goes in first before live and neutral. There's a fuse but it's not really that practical on actual application. Most circuits fry before they even reach that current. Even circuit breakers trips without fuse acting lol. But still good to have as secondary protection.
Live and neutral are partially insulated so no need for sunken design.
Then there's the good grip on the socket. Weakness is that it can lie on the floor with the fork facing upwards.
Who has the stupidest and impractical design? American and the Chinese who followed them. Reversible live and neutral, poor grip, no earth, thin conductor strips,
