Probably people buy at put in wallet..hopefully got fork for perceived "free cash".

this i can understand, but only BTC should increase in price, why are most altcoins (that won't split) also increase in price, especially ETH which +15% today?

may i know how much will the diff b, let's say if i buy 50 ethereum using BTC via LUNO on bitrex, compare with direct 50 ethereum using coinhako? how much extra in MYR i need to fork out if i chose LUNO?
*
I just used LUNO recently, in the whole process of converting cash into bitcoin, they charged me almost 4% in total. Which I feel is quite expensive.

Do share if you know coinhako's rate.

A lot

Question back to you, you are looking for hold what kind of coin for long term?

Some coin provide "dividend" aka Gas or unit but you need to keep in your own wallet, whether is web wallet / desktop/ hard wallet...

or you looking for stability?

Then just buy BTC and hold it
*
I try to diversify a bit from BTC to altcoins like Neo, litecoin, iota, stratis, etc

What are those coins that can give Gas or units? I need to learn how to hold these interesting coins

NEO give u gas, 1 GAS = usd30 on current price
but need more than 10000 Neo to give u 1 gas/day, else slowly accumulate the gas lo..

TenX pay give u % based on the total volume ppl spend on their card...
*
Is there any software that can mine Neo or TenX? or must buy using BTC or ETH...?

and nobody reply suitable exchange that allows trading on web & mobile yet icon_question.gif

Not sure but some already coming out with their own one : Six global banks join forces to create digital currency : https://www.ft.com/content/20c10d58-8d9c-11...52-e46f43c5825d
*
They can come up with central bank controlled digital currencies, well regulated (taxable by government), but why should users use those currency? it will be another form of VISA/Mastercard, how will that affect BTC, ETH and so on? whistling.gif

QUOTE(noob90 @ Sep 16 2017, 12:42 PM)
The value of every single thing that ever existed in this world can be break down into two part: fundamental value and speculation value. The fundamental value is the real value of any item, for example in an efficient market, if every single one of us are willing to pay RM5 for an apple, than the apple value is RM 5 (the fundamental part). However, if someone bring any rumors about that apple (i.e. government will ban the import of apple starting next month), for sure more people will queue to buy more apple to stock up, and are willing to pay another RM3 extra (the speculation part). In the end the final price will be 8 = 5 + 3 (i.e. the base price + the impact of speculation).

The same thing with Bitcoin - as more people start to believe in the technology behind blockchain, the demand will increase which cause the price to soar (the fundamental). And when new rumors come out such as China is banning the exchange, then the price dropped to react to the news (the speculation bit). And similar to the above example, the final price of bitcoin will be equal to the fundamental part plus the speculation part. When we say it is cheap, is because we believe that the real price of the bitcoin (the fundamental value) is higher than the current price, and what cause the price to go down is due to the market reacting to the news (the speculation bit).

Of course, everyone would have different opinion on what the real price of bitcoin is, for you it may be 0 but for us who believe in the technology, we think it is worth 5k. And back to your question, why don't we buy more last year? I cant say for others, but for me I don't really understand the technology the same way as I did today, so that's the reason I dont buy any last year. And as more people start to adopt the technology, the price will continue to rise. This is why, we believe that the price of bitcoin will keep continue to rise as we expect more and more business to start adopting/accepting bitcoin as a currency. In fact, some car dealers, coffee shops in US are already accepting payment in bitcoin.

About anyone can create a new cryptocurrencies - Yes this is true. But not everyone will accept and adopt the new coin you created (i.e. the demand is not there). That is why you have some random coin at 10 cent versus bitcoin at 3.5k usd. In the end, what drives the value of coin is the market itself, if everyone agrees X is worth Y then X will worth Y.

About comparing blockchain to email.... that is not really a good comparison, blockchain is a game changer technology. Maybe you should do more research on why blockchain is the technology of the future. You can watch many TedTalk video about blockchain on youtube. Even if you still dont trust bitcoin as a replacement of currency, you should at least be able to understand the potential of block chain.

Cheers!

I am interested to track how much altcoins grow vs bitcoin, is there any website that can track altcoin changes over time using bitcoin as base index?

For example, we take a snapshot of all of today's coin prices, and normalize bitcoin as 100, then we track how much other altcoins have changed since today's snapshot over time.

What kind of mindset for these troll to keep coming back and argue ?

It's like Toyota supporter walk into Honda showroom and start arguing with other, AND comeback everyday just to wait chance for another argument. What's the point ? You believe what you believe, keep it to yourself.

Exactly my thoughts too, why come to cryptocurrency forum and argue there's no future in crypto currency?

I read a tweet that, to claim bitcoin gold, we can register at this website: hxxp:/www.claimbitcoin.gold (don't click, likely scam)
However, when I visited the website, it asks me to enter my bitcoin's private key to the website... does it mean the website can potentially steal all my bitcoin out if I do so?

Attached Image

If above steps are not safe, then what's the right way to make sure I also have a clone of the coins in bitcoin gold later? Can I just keep the bitcoins in wallets like Jaxx?

What they don't tell you is how much energy fiat is using, from the production of raw and synthetic material, logistics, building security systems and networks, banks, human resource, servers, so on and so forth. I think if you factor all that, crypto energy usage from mining is all but a fraction.  sweat.gif

I always wonder this too, how many Billions were involved in all these middlemen activities, that might justify a decentralized POW network because the network is processing global transactions, eliminating thousands of banking transaction systems and its vendors globally?

100x is impossible in today's world , even theoretically speaking. the greatest moon i can recall, within the past 12 months, is FTM which went up around 40x in fiat

in practice tho, you wont be able to buy at trough and sell at peak .
*
Possible to get >1000x also, just need to buy the right number from Toto/Magnum.
