Yup. Mainly for security of your coins. Better to hold in a few devices rather than just one if you are holding high value coins. Just remember that if your device get spoilt, you can just buy a new one and use the recovery seed to get back the coins. If you also lose you recovery seed, then say bye bye to your coins .With multiple devices you are more reassured that if something unforseen were to happen to one device where you cannot recover the coins, you still have other coins safe in other devices.
In addition, ledger and Trezor support different types of coins. At the moment, ledger has roll out more coin support compared to Trezor.
