Hi to all the gurus here,

Crypto is very new to me and recently my friend introduce me to join a platform call IPDW, and I started to invest into this IPDW coin, from what he said is very convincing and CONFIRM UNTUNG. Therefore i have invested 75coin (average price is about USD200/coin that time).

And after the coin has been launch on 1 July, price/coin kept increasing (which is good news).

Now I wanted to withdraw out then only realized that I need to pay a certain amount of tax before I can withdraw anything from my account, instead of direct deduct the tax amount from my existing account.

Now the price/coin in already increase to USD1015/coin, based on what i have on hand i earn USD75,125, but I will need to pay USD8k++ tax first before I can withdraw anything from my account.

Anyone encounter or heard of this new coin?
Am I being scammed?
Is is normal in crypto transaction that we need to pay taxes upfront?

since you were baited by your friend, bring him/her together to the company to settle the matter. Ask them, life or money.

this is one of the most common crypto scam out there, like others have said, DYOR is very important before investing in a new investment

one of the simplest way to check if a coin is legit or not is just checking it on the major coin listing site like coingecko or coinmarketplace, if said coin is not listed there, that's a major red flag already

also you can google the exchange name or coin name, nothing shows up is another red flag, meaning you should try to stay far far away from it

and that "friend" of yours?  by chance did you befriend him or her online?  if yes then confirmed you've fallen into a common scam called "杀猪盘" in chinese

Most of this scam operates overseas, so it's unlikely you'll be able to get your money back, consider it a very expensive lesson on crypto investment
