QUOTE(bismikaallahuma @ Aug 24 2017, 11:04 AM)
1) Are you a Christian? Yes or no?

2) Do you truly believe? Yes or no?

3) Have you been baptized? Yes or no?

4) Mark 16:16-18 "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; (a) In my name shall they cast out devils; (b) they shall speak with new tongues; ©They shall take up serpents; and (d) if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; (e) they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

5) Once again. Have you (a) been baptized and (b) do you believe?

a) If NOT then you WILL NOT BE SAVED BUT DAMNED.

b) If a Christian has been baptized and believes then they should exhibit the "signs" mentioned above, such as being able to drink any deadly poison (such as battery acid, etc.) and not be harmed. How about the other signs? Can all believing and baptized Christians lay their hand on any randomly selected terminally ill cancer patient or paraplegic and have him rise completely cured? Does this not require that the Christian world be completely free of all illness, doctors, and hospitals? According to this verse, should not all believing, baptized, Christians be able to do this if they truly believe are to be saved? If a Christian does not exhibit these signs, then does this not prove that they do not believe, and thus will not be saved but damned?

6) Go back to (1).

Wow it takes a unbeliever to point out to us the measurement of a true believer

I am ashamed that I don't measure up

But I will keep on trusting God that one day I will be obedient and brave enough to be used in all the signs listed.

Having said that I feel sorry for bismikaallahuma because he really has no more excuses when he faces the Lord on judgement day. He knows but chooses not to believe.

I pray that he repentance before he dies.

Haiz....... UW, you have not been taught properly by your church. You gotta throw a lot of concepts out!

Concepts like 1) imputed righteousness (Ransom, Yes! Substitute, No! Learn the difference)

or 2) PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE sins are already forgiven! There's no such thing!

Your Future sins are not covered! Past sins, yes, up to the point of repentance, they're forgiven. And what the heck is PRESENT sins?  doh.gif

Also,

3) no such thing as progressive sanctification! Sinning less & less until we're glorified is sheer nonsense. We're to stop sinning immediately. And i'm not advocating sinless perfection, you know what i'm talking about.

4) our works are not filthy rags! Don't let anyone tell you that! Our deeds do matter! There were righteous folks in God's eyes. Look it up in the Bible. Enoch, Job (blameless & upright), etc.
K, too long. Bye.

1) based on the author's description of Ransom and substitution, agreed.
2) PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE sins are already forgiven! There's no such thing!
OK, There is a difference between the provision for forgiveness of the sin of mankind for all time and the repentance of said sins by individuals. so....matter of interpretation?
3) progressive sanctification. new words describing old concepts? 2 Cor 3:28. backed by 1John 2:1-6
4) our works are not filthy rags. isa 64;6 talks about righteousness of man, not works.
on works, it depends on the source of motivation of said works. 1 Cor 3;12
if your works are as per Philippians 2:12-13 you're ok.

Hoho ... goody ... then can I ask a deeper question:

Is the role of faith in our justification, is this faith ours?

Wah Peykay.

this is a real mind bender.

it kind of reminds me of Mat Sabu"s speech on 1MDB Chairman, Finance minister and PM all being the same person. bangwall.gif rclxub.gif

i personally think that although the Faith that we need to trust God originates from God Himself, (Rom 12:3)
our part is to willingly surrender to God so that, that faith can work within us to enable us to be justified.
i believe that concept is rooted in Phil 2:13
