Wow.  This post got reported. Guess the person who reported my post do not have the guts to explain why I am wrong.

BTW. I actually think Catholicism is a good system. So why report my post. I mean do I get reported for praising pehkey denomination?  Oh well.  Seems in lowyat you get reported for praising another denomination as well.

Don't be such a Taliban. Where is the statement that he said as such? We can't even comment about Catholicism. doh.gif

I am not agitated but just trying hard to emphasize to you that nothing wrong if one wanted to pursue riches. But in the end, you seems lack of confidence in responding to me
In my church, there are many rich people driving fancy cars... their sons and daughters holding iPhone X. During CNY, few of us went to their bungalow house visitation (one in Desa Park City, one in Bukit Jalil)... don't get me wrong, there are good Christians and good friends of mine.
So, if you one day come to visit my church, will you biased against them?
*
Is it me or are there some Christians who secretly envious of others? hmm.gif

Nothing wrong to have a good life as long as we don't over pursue riches over God.

Bitcoin anyone? laugh.gif

Non-Muslims who have committed an offence that violates both national and religious laws can choose to be prosecuted under either system.

Christians and other non-Muslims sometimes choose a flogging to avoid a lengthy court process and jail term.
Why the heck are they even prosecuted under Sharia laws? Isn't that for Muslims?

These Talibans...

I've read the Indonesian version. So there's no lost in translation as well. laugh.gif

Not means to be rude but if we keep talking about Catholicism here later it's would bring confusion among Catholic and protestant members here as both are totally different theology
*
Its just discussion among Christians followers here. Why would there be confusion? Beside Catholics thread is only yeeck and khool or something. That's why they come here la. brows.gif

Understood. We don't discriminate either. That's why I've said it like chicken and duck. laugh.gif

Imagine if your spouse is a Catholic? goodness gracious! you'll be debating all the way to Martin Luther and Augustine and back to Pope!

Wait till they talk about salvation, then you see the true colours of RC. laugh.gif Yeah some do convert because to please the other party, ie, mostly, husband. dry.gif

I got no issues with RC don't get me wrong. But I find it odd when some of my RC friends don't eat meat on Friday. What's the deal with that?!

trying very hard to get everyone submitted to their religion...have to use force by way of Man.

Otherwise would it ever work if left to the divine?

If you knew Aceh historically, it was fighting for independence from Indonesia. It never wanted to be a part of Indonesia. Early 2000s Aceh actually submitted Sharia law for proposal. It was denied at first, then approved by Jakarta.

Aceh separatist movements had war with too with the Indonesian armies. If it had not been for the 2004 tsunami, they would still be fighting. lol.
Aceh see the tsunami as punishment from God. That's why I guess they are pushing forward the Sharia laws. lol

But as you see and read the news nowadays, even non-Muslims and foreign tourists are chargeable under the Sharia laws. bye.gif

When the laws was still in its infancy, they DID NOT include punishment for non-Muslims. It changed later to accomodate everyone. lol.
Non-Muslims aren't allowed to drink and gamble. Two things Chinese like to do during CNY. lol
I bet they are gonna ban festivities as well. doh.gif

Atheism will be prosecuted as well in Aceh.

I guess that's the start of extremism. Kinda like how Taliban existed in Afghanistan. rclxub.gif

No need for being envy. I think of Bitcoin as a fast way to make money, that's all. I made money and lost money through Bitcoin. But I'm not obssessed with it. I believed it will collapse, just like everything else. lol

QUOTE(yeeck @ Mar 1 2018, 11:06 AM)
what do you mean by salvation + merit of works is the way to heaven. It is faith and works, you can't have one without the other (except if you are a baptized infant that can do no works of faith  tongue.gif  )

"But without faith it is impossible to please God" - Hebrews 11:6

Good works without having the faith will not do.

RC have the seven sacraments as these are instituted by Christ for believers. If they do not have faith in the sacraments, then no point going to receive these.

As for purgatory, it is not paying for sins. The sin must be already forgiven (Confession), but the reparation for the damage should still be done. Eg. if you stole something and you have confessed it and forgiven, you are still bound to restitute the stolen amount or do some other penance. Purgatory is where you've died with forgiven sins but didn't do restitution.
*
But according to RC, its works of men. We don't know if the works are genuine or otherwise. What I'm referring to is genuine faith in Christ that produces good works.

Again, Protestant don't believe in purgatory. Well it still sound like payment of sins. Then why penance existed? lol
I see it as Catholics can pay their penance either now or during Purgatory. blush.gif
Hmm, no wonder Sylar is jealous because being a Catholic has many benefits. No offense yeeck.

Just like debts, you need to settle before it is due. You can't settle your debt in the afterlife.

QUOTE(yeeck @ Mar 1 2018, 11:51 AM)
I'll reply here when I see false info being posted about Catholics. After all, Catholics are Christians, maybe not to folks like sylar and some others.

"Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church." - St Ignatius of Antioch (107),  Letter to the Smyrnaeans.
*
Sylar watches a Youtuber which used to hate Catholics. lol. I used to think that the Pope was the false prophet. lol

Well fundametally Catholics believed in eating the bread of Eucharist to be saved. Protestants believed in trusting in Jesus for salvation.

QUOTE(yeeck @ Mar 1 2018, 11:58 AM)
What true colours of RC? The positions are clearly stated if you want to have a church wedding in a Catholic church. I've heard more commonly about other Protestant groups that insist they will only marry fellow church-goers or insist their future spouse to convert. Catholics do not force conversion, but if you want to marry a Catholic, the Church says that you must agree to have the children baptised and brought up as Catholics, plus no abortion & contraception, even if you yourself remain in your own religion for the rest of your life.

Not eating meat (abstinence) is a simple penance that Catholics observe on certains days. Why Fridays you ask? Because Our Lord died on Friday and we commemorate His Passion, not only during each and every Mass, but especially on Fridays.
*
Abstinence is good. However, these abstinence are human traditions. So do you eat fish instead? Because according to the English definition, meat refer to any flesh.

Seven Day Adventists don't believe in eating pork but then again the Bible didn't say you can't eat pork. That rule is only applicable to the Israelites.

QUOTE(yeeck @ Mar 2 2018, 11:58 AM)

You know Protestants believed in Sola Scriptura while Catholics believed in Magisterium, again man-made traditions. You think God does not know when a saved person do works that pleased Him? hmm.gif

Some of the controversial Catholic teachings is not in the Scripture, now I remember indulgences! Was it very popular back in the 16th century? lol. People buy indulgences to reduce their penance. Back then the Catholic church sells "good works" as a form of indulgences. Plus purgatory was invented by Pope Gregory the Great, who was influenced by Greek beliefs in limbo. lol. Another man-made tradition which has no origin in the Bible.

Ok if Catholics believed in God forgiving our sins then why is the need for purgatory? I see it as holy men wanting to self atone themselves through acts of merits.

Why do you think Martin Luther came up with the 95 Theses?

Catholics take Eucharist meaning literally and require a priest to perform the ritual act of transforming the bread into the body of Christ. Protestants communion is more of symbolic in nature remembering the Last Supper. We don't require a priest for this practice, as long as he is an ordained clergy member of a church.

Well the Bible certainly did not forbid eating meat on any days. This is the ONLY GOOD THING about Catholics which I liked. More meat for others to enjoy! thumbsup.gif

Nobody mentioned about whether Paul and Jesus should marry or not, don't forget they are not wealthy either. So what's your point actually? They have missions on earth of far more importance than marriage and wealth.

When you bring up celibacy is more superior, no wonder the Catholic priests committed sins. Why would a Church forbid its priests from marrying? Those poor men.

Chicken and duck yeeck. This topic will never end. lol.

P/S: Let me research more on purgatory and penance yeeck since its your favourite topic. Give me few days because I'm having party over the weekend. lol
