How do you deal with the reality that life is a tragedy?

Biographies in the ancient Middle East was pretty different compared to our current standard. I'm not even sure if they have a set year, since instead of going by '500bc', they might go with 'in the 4th reign of so and so king'. The events are more important than the dates to the writers of that time.

It's possible to track the rough estimate by the events though. Look for the time when the census was taken underneath the reign of Herod.

Most definitely true. The Jewish calendar is not even the same as the one we use today. Theirs is a lunar calendar, similar to the Chinese. Our modern use is a solar calendar. As such, their dates won't coincide.

Okay I don't want this post to explode over this question:

I had listened to some talks about it. Humans have a number of similar traits to primates (i.e, colour identification for ripe fruit, spotting snake a.k.a one of the primary predators). Enough for many people to claim that we're related.

Of course, the Bible implies that we are not. But then again it's written as ancient literature, and the ancients didn't have any of these theories to begin with. There's also the factor where correlation is not equals to causation. We know that there are many animals who seem similar and yet turn out to be completely different. Look at rabbits and rats and capybaras.

Rabbits used to be classified together with rats as the same family. That changed later on. Now you might think a capybara is not related to a rat, but they are in fact rodents. The biggest rodent in the world too.
