QUOTE(West Wing @ Jun 15 2008, 09:43 PM) Pardon me again, West Wing, cool to know that you are a succesful bird house owner....You are much more than a consultant...A successful bird house owner is much more motivated and understandable what a swiftlet is.....If it is after rain, the birds will fly low and fast as they are catching flying termites and they are plentiful. Here, we have a case of high flying birds and not in any pattern that I have seen. I am no consultant but a successful bird house owner. So, C Foo out there, what's say U? By the way, you are right this time....what you say are absolutely right.... but i'm not sure why you see this pic as a case the birds are flying higH?? they are flying low.....not more than a 4storey building high..... Its a pattern that you have seen i think.. WHere are you from west wing? |

QUOTE(West Wing @ Jun 16 2008, 05:54 PM) Me from where................small town, Kemaman near Club Med and most welcome to our oil town (now a bird town) if you happen to drop in. COol....west wing, small town is not a matter....n most of the swiftlet farming happen in small town!!....I involve in other successful buz but then now, I seem to be more involve with Swiftlets, maybe luv at first sight. Here, I encourage them, new and old birds ranger to allow the bird to breed and multiply. Only 3 to 4 harvest a year or picking up used nest as the new generation of birds fly away and we see alot of new birds and most bird houses are very successful around here. In this way, we may have fewer nest now but will see an big increase in the number of nest . I have sucessfully increase 4th year house from 3K to 4K in less than one year. Tell you a joke, once there was this birdnest buyer told me that my nests were big and well form but unfortunately not white. I told him that I haven't teach my chick to wear diaper yet. A Rm700 difference in price to me isn't very important as I have 20Kilo of the good thing each time and most importance of all, I sleep well . Knowing that next harvest will be better than this time and that my BH will surely appreciate in price by at least 20% very year. I am not myopia and I see far. I share my love and interest of swiftlets with everyone and anyone ........ you collecting 20kilo each time?? that is huge!!!..... the 20kilo come in 1 unit of ur swiftlet house or in total?? how many swiftlet house you have??? |

breeding swiftlet???.... hmm...
i think it would be nicer to leave it to themselves.... they can breed n tcare of the baby better then us.... but no harm giv a try provided you have full force knowledge of breeding it... or else you will jus slow down the population growth.... i does have a fren doing this (selling egg)...but i dont agree with this method.....so, have no idea how much or how he sell it.... |

QUOTE(tongserseng @ Jun 19 2008, 09:23 AM) what you mean by how long after new BH operated?? do you mean your BH now doesnt hav a humidifier??QUOTE(West Wing @ Jun 19 2008, 02:19 PM) open roof? thanks for a cool and logical explaination... 7yrs in the biz is consider OLDman...not freshman.....hehehee.... u r jus a humble guy...dog kennel? wall hole?? I thought that the local councils in most town disallow dog kennel or hole in the back wall............it doesn't look nice and the sound from the entrance affect neighbors. So far most of our BH in our town are using open roof or have change to this type of opening and my reasons are 1. The sound are facing upward and there are lesser complaints of noice pollution. 2. Local Council cannot complaint about its appearance 3. Most BHs in our area are successful and we have no complaint over the method. Maybe, SiFus out there may disagree with Freshman like me only 7 years in the buz. Maybe other places allow such opening and I also believe that the other two work better during the initial stage for new BH but then, Laws are Laws, Rules are Rules and we like to be on the safe side and to be nice and friendly to our neighbors. Added on June 19, 2008, 2:29 pmHey, BH Rangers! How to take care of BS (Guano) ? I mean getting good price for the BS. Maybe, someone expect in fertilizer may wish to help us. I found that they are very good for Oil Palm ( My friend own Oil Palm plantation). By applying them to around the trees make them bear fruits that are much bigger and oily. Any place that I can learn how to process BS, Pack and Sell in shop and maybe Supermarket. Organic fertilizer producing organic food which fetch very high price these days. for your guano problem, i can only give you idea on the packaging and marketing side of this business....but to process it to be saleable in the market i dun have much idea.... but normally what ppl do is jus packed it and sell it to nursery shop, consultant or new BH owner's...... |
