Kohloh,

What is the ex-farm price for bird's nets now in east coast ?

Oh,,,some one wanna know hows the market prices is fix right,,,,its an long story to tell lah,,,

east cost here is very funny,,,when we buy, some seller will shout at his town in an higher prices,,like last week when my fren buy in at rm$3,500 FR SUPER LESS FEATHER!! but those joker go tell all his fren he sold at rm4,000,not once but many times aready.donno wat they r up to??to make their fren think t r smarter??

OK,,nest prices i say is fix in indonesia,,why=cause we cannot compare the cheap labour at indonesia.hiring an cewek(girl) to clean bird nest is only rm$5/day at indon n their wrk is much better n twices the work done compare with "malaysai boleh" cewek.here normaly an girl with working expreances only can clean 6 nest/day but not clean enough but at indon they easy do 15pcs n the cleanes is up to 99%.here i manage with 5indonesian supervision n 50 locals girls only manage to clean 6 to 7 nest fr each girl but their salary is way up to rm25/day n have to provide transport too.so with rm25/day i easy can get 5 workers in indon n the result fr 5 girls there is 75pcs/day but here i only manage 7pcs max n only 96% clean.i once ask my workers "why u girls can only manage 7pcs/day when my indon girls sitting next to them manage 15pcs/day??"result=next day 50of them didnt come to work.""MALAYSIA BOLEH""TATS WHY,,IN INDON IF THEY DONT WORK N STAY AT HOME ,THEY WILL STARVE TO DEAD"'tat the diffrent between MAL n IND.
so nest cleaning in this world is an must at indon with those cheap n skilled workers(when i say "skilled"means very goods )fr safe cost n to complete at internasional market.

indon harvest bout 40TON/month compare with malaysia only 4ton meaby but Malaysian think t r at the top of the world aready.Hong Kies like to deal with indonesian cause they have to amount(40TON/month)n they had been dealing over ganerations.in indonesia, bird nest is some thing like plam oil here.they have their trading prices not like some joker here say he only sell his nest at certain prices.same like plam oil..last 3 month, they were dealing at rm880/ton raw but today only rm200/ton BUT they still harvest n sell.wat to do...prices can jump frm rm880 to 200 in just 3month time.
today raw nest prices at indon is trading at USD$900/super grad means those 3 finger size lah.so us900 X 3.6=rm$3240(talking bout all 3finger size)BUT the trading prices in indon is $3250 NOT in malaysia.in malaysia we ned to pay perhilitan tax $100 to ship our nest to indon then shipping expenses, collecting expenses, capital profit??will come to an us$100/kg so normally it stay at $2900/kg in malaysia cause we cant complete the cheap processing fees n the indonesain mature distributing with HK n CN.do ever think the HK n CN market are not touch by any one.they r step by those indon 100years back n no ned to tell u bout their relations if those dealers r really wanted to do business.dealing raw or cleaned nest in china come to the end is an SMUGLING biz as many know china gov post many tight rules n high tax fr importing nest so if we do as they say then we cant sell our goods duel to high prices.HK n CN is just 30min by train means this is those Hong Kies rice bowl.
indonesian today trading prices fr raw nest is like this Super US$900 then come 2 finger at $800 then round corners at 700 ,come triangle at 600 but dont forget to deduct the cost fr handling it back to indon fr process...
some sell raw nest light feather n white to some broker now days but the result is when u have 100kg of white nest ,after selected by them u remain 80KG those with much feather n a bit yellow n they only take 20% of yr harvest.SO WHERE DO THOSE 80% GOES???still back to processing(indon).dont expect us donno when yr goods are aready selected by those super light feather brokers,n when we offer the prices dont say we pay u guys less cause those goodies are aready at others people hand.malaysia farmers only know how to squeeze fr better prices frm indon buyers but if 1 day indon processer dont buy frm malaysia???more worst prices drop to cover the processing prices to complete with indon processer at world market but trust me we still way back at skill if some one has seen before indonesia top nest processer work n the worst is we have many "malaysia boleh workers"in our hand here.fr me i,m working as an team with indonesia top3 nest supplyer to world market.how much i can get in malaysia market ,i will deal how much.dont push my self cause i will have an heart attack if i force my self in getting nest frm malaysian farmers.NOT MATURAL!!our team have 2500 cewek n supply over 5ton of nest to HK/month so if all our workers relay on malaysia nest sure lapar mati lah.
indonesia farmers all talk bout 100KGs n 100KGs.once prices drop u can say u will keep but second drop, third drop,,,dont tell me u keep 300kg in yr home n sleep well at night.prices drop come fr us1500 before olympic when every one expect an good market when olympic but who knows CN close door n tight security to make sure no bird flu happen when olympic, then come shanghai stock from 6250 till today only 2000point.this drop make many nest consumer suffer...it takes time to recover...really takes time..
fr us nothing worry us cause we still get RM$2+++/KG today..why not think how to get more birds to come n nest at our farm then making hard fr traders,,,,any one wanna try CN market, please go ahead, when story tells many wont trust, they reather go bang their head hard till they bleed then come back to be an matural farmers again(me as an good example)
malaysia bird nest future has many problem on coming,,,goverment are finalising an rules fr u guys n many state PBTs r doing it now.many association aroung but a person really do things n fight fr bird hs at town have how many???
there r some association president here i know but they only talk, talk n talk.they donno what is happening in goverment n their moves.tell u some thing big is coming but me n some guys r trying to do the best we can,but if failed ,please blame it on those talking president of nest asso.
wah,,,long story oh,,,any one wanna know more Pm me only
mandi lah

""Today, I met a friend who has just return from China and he was in China selling his nest and he got CNY7800/K approximate Rm4K per K and that's quite comparing to local buyer giving Rm2K+ per K of nest. The problem is that he has to go to China to sell and he is going early next month.""

yah yah,,,,yr so call "frend" just sold me 60KG of freash harvest above yr spec shop today at $2500 n u yr self also see the stock fully pack in my car.
the best way is fr newbies to go bang yr head there(CHINA) frist before come here to tell story...

dont think any single person with over hundreds KGs of his own dont even know how to handle n market his own nest n needed some joker here to teach him how

MAL harvest over 4ton/month n u think human didnt do his home work n marketing but needed some jack a** to tell them wat to do??

let borrow this frm CK foum try hitting the 100 page

That is, bird nest.

I dont think the condition will change.....

Unless we change our mindset......we will not be able to survive by just becoming farmers alone.

I have chatted with some senior farmers/processor... and i am deeply indebted to them especially K whom had spends hours chatting with me and explaining the current condition of bn market.

No one will cares to do that, most seniors will just laugh at the comments and ideas from other farmers/forum members that have no experience in bn processing and exporting.

If you are planning to do just that liked i do, expected to be hit hard and bang your head to the wall very very often.

The road is long, curve, uneven, dark and scary.........

Be prepare if u plan to walk that path.....

But we have no choice as we cant turn back and walk back to the original point............

The problems are never ending that is from looking for experienced workers, bn cleaning, supervising workers, control quality, security of bn processing plant, approval paper from govt dept, paying Toll to local govt dept to export bn !!!, getting approval from china govt, paying toll to the govt there to release the goods to the bn buyers, and to work on the weight dispute with the bn buyers due to weight lost which happened quite often, to build up good relationship with the retails players and many many more.......

Are we ready to face this challenge ??

INVITATION TO JOIN KEDAH BH TASK FORCE TO REPRESENT INTEREST OF BH OWNERS IN KEDAH‏

Re: INVITATION TO JOIN KEDAH BH TASK FORCE TO REPRESENT INTEREST OF BH OWNERS IN KEDAH

Gentlemen,
Thank you for having agreed to be invited to join in to help to defend the right and interest of the bird’s nest house (BH) owners in the state of Kedah. Many of you who receive this email are owners of BH. But some of you are not owners. These non-owners are proven social volunteers at my personal invitation here to help to fend for the CIVIL RIGHTS AND JUSTICE of the people. My personal salute to all of you esp these non-owners.
For the benefit of those who are new to me, let me humbly introduce myself and brief you the purpose of our mission.
I am involved in the BH industry way back to 1998. I was the co-founder for the 1st BH association in Malaysia, i.e. The Malaysia Bird’s Nest Merchants Association in 2000. I was the Deputy President until 2003 and became the advisor. I was the one who led the committee to attend the 1st official meeting and dialogue with the Federal Govt officials to convince them the recognition of this BH industry at Putrajaya in 2002. I was also forced to be the author to do the write up of the 1st comprehensive report on the Malaysia’s Bird’s nest industry (attached) which was used to educate the Ministers and the officials. This report has been constantly revised and updated by me till recently. It is a very time consuming job to collect the data.
Despite having retired from this active voluntary social work since 2003, yet I have been re-called to attend and resolve the numerous BH crises occurred throughout the country during the period till very lately. The latest being the Penang case which I managed to convince the Penang New Govt to extend another year for the BHs in Penang till 2009 Dec with my promise to help the Govt to resolve the messy controversial procedure in the BH licensing left behind by the previous BN administration. The Penang Govt requested me to help in as I was the one who led a Task Force representing the BH owners of Penang fought and negotiated successfully for the issuance of the BH license in 2005. And I owned no BH in Penang.
Among the issues I helped in person and or assisted in settling are, Nibong Tebal in 2000,2001 the Malacca crisis in 2002, Serbak Bernam in 2002, Kelantan in 2003, Johor in 2004, Kuantan in 2004,2005, Taiping in 2005, Parit Buntar, Sri Manjung, Telok Intan in 2006, Mukah, Sarawak, Oct 2008, Penang 2005,2008 etc. All these have caused me a lot in many ways for the past 10 years and yet, I have no personal direct gains from all these as my BHs are in Kedah.

Up to date, there exist no less than 50 related associations in Malaysia with many are encouraged by me to form to attend and resolve their respective local issues. Unofficially, I acted as advisor to many of them. Till today, I am still requested to give advice to a certain national association at ad hoc basis to help tackle macro issues at ministerial and national level which if not resolved carefully, would definitely and adversely affect the future of this BH industry in Malaysia.

Now, it is the turn that the new Kedah PR Govt is trying to look seriously into the positive economic prospect of this industry having on the state and the people. This was overlooked and neglected by the previous BN administration. From my understanding of the present MB and the Excos, all of them are very supportive of this industry and would like to do something positive. The Excos have encouraged one of its GLC, PKNK to move into BH development in Bandar Bahru. They have instructed the Kedah PBT to look into formulating the appropriate guidelines to issue BH license. I came to know that the Ketua Pengarah PBT Negeri Kedah, Tuan Noran will be conducting a state level meeting for all departments to make presentation on 17.02.09 in Wisma.
To my understanding, besides the Govt departments, the Ketua Pengarah welcomes inputs and participation from the representatives of the trade as it is the wish of the State Govt trying to make Kedah a model among all the states. I understand that Dr Reduan from the Federal Haiwan will be making a presentation besides a couple of other departments which I have yet to find out. As it is a fact that most Govt servants are not involved in this trade and that this is a new trade that till to date not many new comers are well verse with and have the in-depth understanding and knowledge, it is imperative that we, the ones directly involved in it should come forward to do our best to feed and guide them. I also come to know that there is one Ismail Ahmad@ Harry who is a blogger has also been invited to make presentation. This Harry is known to me personally. To me, he is pretty new and owned only one BH in SP of about 3 years old with little success. He is active in his blog which is only about a year old. He wrote a lot very amusingly. But most of his stuff I do not agree with. He was the one who told me that he was invited to make presentation and was very proud of it. I alerted and advised him that he should not do it by himself and instead he should join in the task force which the Kedah owners are going to form to represent all. It seems that this has gone onto deaf ear and I understand he has submitted his personal presentation claiming to represent views of the owners of Kedah. Such inconsiderate and uncooperative action really worries me. I afraid he may mislead those who attend the meeting and make wrong decision.
In view of the circumstances and in desperation, I appeal to all of you that we MUST immediately form a task force which will eventually turn into a state association to make proper representation as from now. I am proposing this to be named KEDAH SWIFTLET HOUSE OWNERS ASSOCIATION (PERSATUAN PEMILIK RUMAH WALIT NEGERI KEDAH). We will try to get ourselves be invited to the meeting on the 17.02.09.
Meanwhile, I would humbly and urgently advise all of you to scrutinise the attached document and be well verse in them. From time to time, I will feed you more. I need each and every one of you to really consider the importance and the urgency of the matter. I need positive inputs from you. My planning is that we shall attend the meeting and listen to the presentations. We will request the authority to let us time study through thoroughly and give them our positive views to assist the Govt to draft a real good guidelines for win-win which the whole Kedah people will be proud of and exclaim KEDAH BOLEH.
Also, please try to spread the news and help head hunt for more calibre volunteers to join us. More hands make work lighter. We need to inform all the owners and encourage them to join in as members. We may eventually need to split it into 3 sectors like Alor Star, Sg Petani and Kulim in order to cover whole Kedah. Meanwhile, let SP be the centre temporarily for all the convenience. My estimation of the number of BHs in whole Kedah is well over 2,500 with more to come.
I do understand that all of us have our own professions and commitment. This is only our passive side investment. It is quite human and natural that everybody expects somebody to do it, but most of the time; it ends up nobody does it. If this is so in this case, would you imagine and visualise how dreadful the outcome is going to be? How I wish that I could be spared from doing this again after having contributed and spent more than 10 donkey years in it nationwide. I am really scared thinking of it. I am dying for a complete retirement from this social work and concentrate in my personal life and matter. But, it looks like I am not given the choice now, at least for the time being. Also, I can’t do it alone. Therefore, I am appealing and pleading to all of you, please, for goodness sake, and for the future of this industry in which so many Kedahans are now depending on as their lifelines, do contribute a little to help me so that we can help all. Let us start organise it properly and invite more hands to share to help in. I believe once it is on the track, more calibre volunteers will come forward to take rotation to serve.
There is a saying, THE ONLY TIME WHEN EVILS THRIUMPH IS WHEN ALL THE GOOD MEN ARE DOING NOTHING.

Sincerely yours,
David Lim 012-4850778

P/S: Pls do not be misled by Harry’s post on the GAHP course which in my opinion is controversial with hidden agenda. I remember in 2005 and 2006 this course was conducted and provided FOC by Haiwan across the country. I was assisting in rounding up owners to attend for awareness programme. Up to today, I understand that there is no official compulsion and any legal binding as a pre-requisite requirement in the application of BH license. I do not understand why it is no longer free? There is something very fishy. Somebody must be exploiting the situation for personal gains. I will have it checked up later. Please spread and advise those you know not to fall for it
