In my humble opinion multi channel DVR with infra-red cameras + broadband internet access is more practical than 3G EYE. Personally I'm selling both 3G EYE and DVR with IR cams at my shop for RM750 each. The only good thing is it's fairly easy to set up. Just insert a 3G activated sim card. Owner's 3G mobile phone will have to sms a specific code for authentication. Not all 3G phones can access to the 3G EYE. Only owner's phone and few other numbers that owner allowed and set into the system. The IR lens can be controlled left and right but not up and down. Up and down have to manually set by hand. Note that the 3G signal must be strong enaugh to initiate video calls. The recording memory is limited to size of T-Flash memory card. If only want to install 1 cam then 3G EYE is ok. For those who want to install 4 or more camera channels then DVR is more econimical.

For new BH, I think that the 3G Eye is beautiful and it is flexible. You can put it in any place and can view it immediately without any wire or expertise required. Just my opinion and for that I haven't tried the 3G Eye yet.

As for the DVR multi channel with IR cameras with broadband, I found it rather difficult to install and use.....with wire here and there, not for DIY guy like me. I have 2 DVRs and I still haven't install them in my BHs yet.

3G EYE come with a comprehensive manual in English and Malay so just follow the step by step instruction on installation and setting up. I got 1 unit in stock but never setup before because my phone no 3G video call support. The lens size is very small if compare to CCTV cams. Much like a pin hole camera lens. From the photo I previously posted you guys and actually see how small is the lens. A pin hole in the middle only. So the viewing angles is small and range is quite short. Good thing is can rotate 45degree left and right. Following the instruction manual setting up shouldn't be a problem. One of the problem with this gadget is up down viewing angle very limited. Either straight front or around 20 degree upwards. Need to be place on at least 3 feet high platform in order to get a good view. The tested picture quality in office no problem. In dark places the quality degraded. Pretty blurry especially further range. I predict if use in BH the picture quality can puke blood. doh.gif

For multichannel DVR + IR cams with online viewing features one must have certain level of computing knowledge in order to set up yourself. Installation of hardware is pretty simple. IR CCTV cams run on 12v DC adapter and all come with wall mounted stands. To extend the length from control room to the place in BH which we install the cam just use 2 core wire. Those white colour with blur stripe on 1 wire. As for signal wire I would personally recommend real CCTV wire (RG59 75ohm coaxial cable) instead of cheap TV wire. Price for a roll of RG59 cable is RM70. For signal connector just get the screw in type. Just strip the front of wire a bit and screw in the connector. No soldering needed. 1 cam will need 2 BNC connectors 1 at cam and 1 at DVR. Price around RM2-3 each. Once connected power and signal you'll be able to view video on the TV.

For online viewing you'll need a modem router connected to a streamyx line with activated account. Please note that the modem router must support dynamic DNS and port forwarding. We must apply for a dynamic DNS account and hostname at www.dyndns.org . Most DVR only support hostname with dyndns.org extension so when choosing hostname choose this one. As for DVR side there should be a setting up manual to help you configure it. When purchasing DVR and router modem you can request the shop to apply for you the dynamic DNS a/c and pre-configure the system. Of course you must provide the DVR manual your activated Streamyx username and password to be configure into the router modem. If purchasing both DVR and router modem from the same shop even easier for them to pre-configure. Once configured we just plug in everything and ready to go.

I am not saying or confirming anything but just advice newbies to be aware and be careful. When need advice, seek friendly advice first and never pay all in advance and always be smart.

How to be smart, and if you ask, then you are not smart. I tell you first, then you still remain smart, ok. Seek confirmation from friends like in this blog or around your area and you shall decide on your own not your so called friends because you didn't know us or do you really know me lah. Ask a lot of questions like how our BH should be, entrance, why here and not there ( remember that you are paying for it) and after then, you know what to expect and even you fail, then you are also partly to be blamed.

We advice, you decide for if you fail, you are the only one to suffer and sad. Really, I find that guys in this forum are really helpful, so ask swifbuild or others and they as usual will help.

Thanks for your compliment West Wing!

Newbiessssss.... If they know nothing then what is there to as? In order to ask a question one must at least know something. blink.gif

I guess most got into such situation because they believe in those who had advertised hugely. The reason being if they could spend so much money on advertising they sure can do a good work. flex.gif

That was totally wrong perception. One day the newbiesss have learned then only he will realize how little those big guys know. Often it is too late and too costly to learn. This is not consumer goods like Giant or Tesco the bigger the better.

I don't blame the big guys but the newbiess themselves .I had met many newbies , if you don't charge them "Kau-Kau" they think you have no skill. They often tell me you don't charge money so your skill must be lousy. The big guys charged me heavily so they must be skillful. Often than not most ended up paying over 100K ended up with 2 nests and 2 eggs(2 "LAM PA") after 3 years and best of all they bring back 2 humidifiers that can no longer work to keep at their bath room n when they bath the can enjoy looking at their 100k investment. thumbup.gif

What to do Brother? The market is like this, people just love it . Thats why no mattter how the ratio still stand at 90% fail. Very much thanks to newbies. icon_rolleyes.gif

Another syndrom of newbies is The Chicken & soya sauce syndrom. They don't mind to spend on a 100k badly failed farm with 2 "LAM PAR" but if you advise them to spend another Rm500.00 to turn around their failed farm they will give 1001 reasons. Either they are totally still have faith in the one who busted of their 100k and present them with 2 "LAM PAR" or they are so smart that they r willing to spend on the chicken but not willing to spend on the soya sauce,So the chicken ended up tasteless. rolleyes.gif

So with such mentality, the ratio of 90% failed will still prevail and there will be many more stories of blaming others. whistling.gif
