it depends on the area that u intended to build a farm. If the area is majority wall hole then you should follow because the birds had already adapted to the wall entrace. So if u build something different it will take a while for the birds to adapt to.

Let not talk about 1 or two successful farm. That is the mistake most people made. You may have 1 or 2 sucessful farms which is OR which eg: harvesting 15kg or more.
Then probably 10-30 farms of DK harvesting 3-10kg. My personal opinion is that I would choose DK. Well if you want to choose OR there is no harm. It shows total number of birds still prefer DK. Then if your Dk is the best amongst the DK in no time yr DK could beat the OR. This is my opinion. open roof?
dog kennel? wall hole?? I thought that the local councils in most town disallow dog kennel or hole in the back wall............it doesn't look nice and the sound from the entrance affect neighbors. So far most of our BH in our town are using open roof or have change to this type of opening and my reasons are 1. The sound are facing upward and there are lesser complaints of noice pollution. 2. Local Council cannot complaint about its appearance 3. Most BHs in our area are successful and we have no complaint over the method. Maybe, SiFus out there may disagree with Freshman like me only 7 years in the buz. Maybe other places allow such opening and I also believe that the other two work better during the initial stage for new BH but then, Laws are Laws, Rules are Rules and we like to be on the safe side and to be nice and friendly to our neighbors. Added on June 19, 2008, 2:29 pmHey, BH Rangers! How to take care of BS (Guano) ? I mean getting good price for the BS. Maybe, someone expect in fertilizer may wish to help us. I found that they are very good for Oil Palm ( My friend own Oil Palm plantation). By applying them to around the trees make them bear fruits that are much bigger and oily. Any place that I can learn how to process BS, Pack and Sell in shop and maybe Supermarket. Organic fertilizer producing organic food which fetch very high price these days. QUOTE(swiftletfarm @ Apr 11 2007, 10:25 AM) Hi Weihow, Hi Sam,I'm not sure about the types of potions that nestech sells. All the while I've just been using the CS mating potion and I've found that almost all the baby swiftlets that were born in my farm continued to return every day. Kinda afraid to rock the boat by trying anything new, if you know what I mean. The timetable that Crystal Swiftlets provided me is that from Jan to May, spraying the potion will help to retain the new baby swifts in my farm while spraying the potion in the 2nd half of the year will help to retain the visiting baby and adult swifts from other farms that fly into your farm to play during the day. The theory is that once these visiting swiftlets get used to the smell of the mating potions by playing inside of your farm, they will find it unfamiliar to stay in their own farms and subsequently migrate to yours. From my own personal limited experience, the potion truly works. But the drawback is, it costs quite a lot of money. However, I don't mind paying to keep my farms competitive, just take the money out from the sales of edible birds nests. Better to spend a bit than to lose my swiftlets to others. In the end, I may end up spending (losing) more, kinda like penny wise pound foolish. Thanks for Dr. Chris' link, seeseng. Will check it out later. But they ask questions in order to join? Like what? Will give it a try and report back. regards, Sam Good day to you. Indeed, I owned a farm with 3 storey about 3.5 years now and only have about 260 birds with 90 nest. I'm now looking for more techiques to improve the situation and need to ask will be be okay for me to apply the CS potion for my 3 years farm house as I worry will it affecting existing swiftlets? -Tee |

Advice of the day: Regular and repeated inefficientcy in fulfilling promises and supplying goods to customers already paid with their hard earned money will only ruin ones own business reputation. Can busy until cannot pick up the phone become a good excuse? Simple and easily solve things can take months to settle? Nobody can ruin one's business reputation unless one's self ruining it.
Sincerely, Panjang This post has been edited by BSLEE79: Jun 23 2008, 01:00 PM |

Hi,
Can someone pls explain why it take so long to process my application to "Swiftlet Millionaire Club Forums" If it's for special members, it's Ok but if it is to share one's knowledge on swiftlets, I would like to share my little 7 years experience in swiftlet's farming. West Wing, that's me is in the list as new member but cannot participate unless I receive the approval by email............. so, how do you, sir say that most new members do not participate or contribute at all? |
