should i go for a 2k 144hz curve display or 144hz 1080p curve display?

50% gaming 50% movies usage.

Pricing wise about double for this 2 models. is it worth paying double for 2k resolution?

Just for your information you won't really see much difference from 2k vs 1080P.
Because 2k standard is 2048 x 1080; while 1080P = 1920 x 1080.

If you're looking for 1440P, then you should check if your GPU can draw that much of power, else stick with 1080P.

For 31.5" is not advise getting 1080p IMHO as everything is where too big.

Below is what you get in workplace when using 1440p resolution. Off course before you getting 1440p make sure your GPU is powerful enough to draw 3D in gaming.

1440p vs 1080p - you may feel it is very small when viewing in smaller monitor but it is just nice in 27" and above monitor.

When people talk on 2K in PC display, it is refer to QHD (1440p) not that DCI 2K, that one is DCI standard for 2K which no PC display in such resolution and it is established by the Digital Cinema Initiatives consortium in year 2005. Probably due to that title of 2K get occupied where the reason no one call 1440p as 2K but instead call it 1440p or QHD. But now manufacturing also start calling 1440p as 2K resolution already and it is no wrong at all.

If based on calculation the width which is very equally as, if you draw a box of each and put together and you will notice each is equally extra 1x per resolution. Last time people call 1080p as 2K which is very wrong to me as it is not reaching at 2K and if 1080p is 2K then 2160p impossible is 4K already. So 1080p shall be 1K just can make the 2160p became 4K.

1080p - 1K
1440p - 2K
1620p - 3K
2160p - 4K
