Any further info regarding prospects in this company for moving up?? or in similar industry in the future? cos I don't really know what other companies that do insurance softwares... I only know those that develop banking softwares...which I wonder could be similar?

Thanks limsk,

Are you working at Manulife also?

How is the workload there? is it required frequent travel to oversea? mostly which countries?

I got offers from Accenture, ACS and Manulife. I had went thru the forbes, Manulife rank 9x and accenture is 418, ACS is 1010, Seemed like Manulife is a very big companies, what made them different is that accenture & ACS are BPO, but Manulife is not, am i right limsk.

Thanks for the advises.

you are powerful. got offers from three big MNC here. your experience must be very good. mind to share your qualification?

I'm in one of the company that is supporting MIL Hong Kong. I must say, these people are hardcore to the max if you talk about work. But some support in MIL HK are quite pushy/rude. Encountered one already last month, gave her the piece of my mind and since she didn't say a word to me smile.gif

Workload varies - those doing support would be less busy then those actively working on projects, especially close to project deadlines.
May I know until what extent will the workload be for those who work on projects? Is overtime working hour expected for most of the time?

Thanks.

Hi, based on all the posts I read here..
Can I say the programmer job here is more towards project driven?
Is it a good place to learn new skills and is freedom of speech a practice here?
What are normal working hours and is there any flexi hour practice in the company?
Thanks.

Manulife is in Damansara Heights, a very expensive neighbourhood. Nobody I know stays around here, but then I'm not good buddies with any Tan Sris  or Puan Sris or corporate CEOs.

There are nearby places to stay which are affordable, Section 17 about 10 mins away has plenty of rooms for rent thanks to hundreds of UM and TAR students cycling through every year. Also SS1 and SS2 are also nearby (15-20 mins away).

Added on March 2, 2009, 7:49 pmIf you can learn about a company just by reading websites that will be good. Corporate websites are just like company brochures - who believes those anyway?

Please check the following:

- Can you speak passable English (nobody expects you to be an English Lit major, but you should be able to make yourself understood to our foreign customers)?

- Can you write simple programs (hopefully you didnt copy all your answers from your friends in college)?

- Can you solve simple IQ problems? (match numbers, missing sequence, etc)

Then you have no problem - its not about scoring perfectly, but as a way to weed out those completely unsuitable for the job i.e. All answers wrong on both tests and can't speak at all. Its not a test of Maths or programming language syntax either - its writing pseudocode to test your programming aptitude.

Most of the work is done for Manulife divisions in Asia - Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Phillipines, Vietnam, Shanghai. In future  US and Canada. But you shouldnt expect to shuttle round the world every week like a MI6 agent - that costs money and in these days of declining budget, no finance company spends money without a good reason.

this is true. went for the writing test last week, (.net developer post) i think the questions difficulties are more towards medium level, a little bit hard for freshies especially the technical questions (except the theory questions).

did the test last week (friday), and they offered me today (tues) which is quite fast. i think they do need ppl urgently now.

I remember last year they need analyst programmer.... Right now it seems like they still need the programmer urgently. Where are all the rest programmer who has been working last year? Or is it just a simple issue that they out of man power? or people leaves due to certain reason?

Could anyone tell me what kind of questions will be given for the technical assessment and what should I study to get myself well-prepared for the test? Parking is little bit hard to find.
Better take Public transport. Take T634 from bangsar, and stop exactly infront of the building..

I was being informed that the interview will take 4 hours to complete. 1hr face to face and 3 hours of test.

May i know what kind of test they are preparing that required 3 hours to finish it? Longest test I ever faced for job interview.
