1,000 show up for ‘future richest man’ banquet


Gold on the mind: Members with yellow or gold dyed hair arriving at the dinner held at the community hall in Chai Leng Park, Butterworth.

BUTTERWORTH: About 1,000 people turned up for a charity dinner said to be organised by Chinese national Zhang Jian – the self-proclaimed “future richest man in the world”.

Members who attended the dinner at Chai Leng Park on Sunday were promised a RM1,000 incentive, provided they sported the “right look”.

It was said each person had to pay RM200 for the dinner, with only those who dyed their hair yellow or gold allowed to enter.

Most of the diners arrived in non-Penang registered vehicles, while some showed up in chartered buses.

Reporters were barred from entering the community hall to cover the dinner.

Zhang was, however, not seen at the dinner.

In April, he also allegedly organised similar charity dinners in Johor Baru, Kuala Lumpur as well as in Sabah.

According to major Chinese dailies, Zhang’s multi-level marketing company is said to be making a comeback in Malaysia by organising several dinners recently.

Some company members claimed Zhang was in the Maldives.

According to media reports, hundreds of members, mostly from China, also attended one of the dinners.

Some of the women came with their heads shaved, while others were spotted with tattoos of Zhang to show their support, and several male members wore dresses to the event.

well the flow of the story is...those gullible ppl go play illegal money game..end up their house kena lelong...so in a way, such act hovers more or less along the line similar to those ppl that first persuaded those naive ppl to join money game isnt it?

like u know someone's giving out free money coz he was told doing so will benefit him in his after life..as a passerby, do you want to go collect knowing its at the expense of others being scammed?

How is it the same with those who persuaded them to join money game? Still don't see the link how it's the same. They agreed to pay the bank x amount installment for the loan, they took the risk to join money game to the point they risk their housing loan installment. Then bank repossess the house. Instead of letting the house rot and waste valuable resources, I am merely buying in the act of recycling to save mother earth's scare resources. Heck...I should be given some environmental award instead of being compared to those money game scammers.

You example also tak betul, I'm not the passerby who take the money from the person. Passer by take the money, then use the money to pay their bank debts, then bank manyak profit decided to use the money hire contractor to refurbish their branch. In this scenario, do you blame the contractor for taking the job from the bank saying he's responsible for the scam that happen to the first person?

Like I said, that's the mindset for pretty much everything. If I don't take the promotion, someone else would and the other staff would still lose out. See...its the same in everything.

The main difference is the intent...one is done with the intention of conning people which is illegal, while auctions are not done with this intention and it's legal.

If you see no difference in this, then we should stop persecuting drug dealers and human traffickers etc as well. Because the concept is the same, if I don't do it, someone else will.. The difference between the concept falls back to the intent and legality.
