Try open a movie file in ur hdd by using wmp11. Then pause the movie and open another one. Did it give an error? appclash. WIndow need to go online to find solution blah blah..

For the most part WMP 11 serves the same purpose that the other versions did
and thats playing video files (for me that is).  I'm running this in Windows
Vista Business 64-bit.  I'd be more than happy to report an issue with this
play to Microsoft, but apparently they don't care what I have to say since 30
minutes of online searching has gotten me no closer to a bug reporting
website.

The error happens most often when a video file is done playing and I close
the player.  Immediately after closing the player I receive a pop-up saying
that "Windows Media Player has stopped working".  The problem event name is
always APPCRASH.  The latest exception code is c0000374 with an exception
offset of 000aa0fb.

It's pretty sad when a company decides they like the weather on Olympus and
moves themselves far out of reach of the people who use their products.  From
what I've seen in my searches it seems the focus is on low level support for
the average Joe and troubleshooting that goes nowhere.  Not once has the
results for anything that has gone wrong for me in Vista.

Am I experiencing a lemon or is this a common bug occurence.  If it is a
lemon...can I get a pc software lemon law please.

Same problem, this WMP that preloaded with vista is damn buggy, it couldnt play avi format(crash), the sound and pictures arent in sync when playing mpg format

i suspect its the codecs problem, so i installed the k-lite codec pack, it improved... a little, at least avi format are playable

I have no problem playing avi actually. But it just that when i close it it will give the the appcrash thing. I still can play but need to wait a few second b4 opening the next avi. Yup, wmp 11 is really buggy la. Also can;t uninstall it or reintall it. Need to reinstall vista. Darn!
Btw, i am using XP Codec. Got Stormcodec but didn't install it yet.

Its not a bug with Vista. Its actually resource allocation. I'm running Vista Ultimate on my monster C2Q Extreme and I emulated your problem but to my surprise, I was able to run 4 different movies on 4 different WMP11. But then, it could be due to my C2Q Extreme .. hehehe
