Whats the red sliding mitre?

Shipping if prohibitively mahal for the Bosch GCM8-SJ, can use the 312mm H-cut. total up RM50 difference with local, butno stock til end of February. See willing to spend few more RM beli from another shop. Need to make my 1-storey belian staircase liao

But the Bosch axial glide mitre is cool, ot the Kapex. Traditional sliding mitre panjanggg

For DIY I saw a few model, chiefly aimed for good long cut and not that heavy. Tried Skil, which has almost similar cutting range like Bosch for around RM800, but very bulky and heavy for frequent carrying and storage. Ended up taking a slightly lighter Bosch GCM8-SJ for home use and easier storage. But do take note that GCM8 uses 8' saw blade which is hard to get in malaysia. If YOu don't need to carry around and if space is ok, Skil is a good alternative.

how much did you buy your GCM8SJ? Cant find Skil anymore, BOSCH sold them to some china company, so BOSCH MY not carrying them, not sure who is the distro in Msia now anymore.

I prefer 8", where Im at, abundant 8" blade, suprisingly. Metabo is RM200 cheaper...not sure if thats an option for me. My table saw is 10, okay la.

10" Bosch Axial is RM2.6k

I saw both units from CT hardware shop personally. Got my GCM8SJ at around RM1200 or so from the same shop.

Just sharing.

Like you I am just a partime DIYer. But during the height of my earlier 'equipment aquisition phase' (tongue.gif), I bought myself a used circular saw online, and later a Bosch 10.8V cordless drill (and much later a impact driver by bosch, which is excellent). Because of the same battery system I later got myself a 10.8V bosch cordless zig saw too.

These two combition, ie, corded circular saw and a cordless jigsaw turned up to be an excellent combination. For straight line, I used the powerful corded circular saw with a diy straight line guide. Jigsaw only meant for convenience with mobility. You may want to consider this combo too.

for cutting straight in wood, if you only have jigsaw, try getting this Bosch T308B blade, surprisingly clean and nice cut (use a straight edge or level as guide).

To those looking for circular saw, I think the Bosch GKS190 or GKS66X in the RM400-RM550 range should be a good choice (at least it's branded with after sales support?). If precision is top priority, table saw or plunge saw it is

Agreed. I would recommend buyer to look at the weight of the saw, some bosch circular saw can be heavy for single hand use. If pay more you can get something lighter and versatile.

Guys, is it enough to use the cordless drill/driver only? For diy things. Or bettter to get combo drill/driver & impact drivrer?
*
Good day to you. Just to share as a DIY guy, not a pro.

I do have a set of corded drill/driver, then subsequently a set of cordless 10.8V Bosch impact driver, jigsaw etc. Its a good combo I think because the impact driver, once you use one, you won't use anything else to drive a screw. Its that good. For me, 10.8V (now 12V) is compact enough, light enough and very versatile for personal use. 18V is heavy for one hand job.

Then all the corded stuff can be used when we need more power to drive holes and others.

ps: I have two cordless items for drill items: one drill/driver, one impact driver. On top of that a corded old drill/driver inherited long ago. Corded is more powerful generally.

Congrats on your new tool! I also have one and I admit that this is one single tool which will be very useful for you for years.

There is a minor problem, its not easy to get the replacement blade for this model. I have tried to search around without success, except perhaps online which I haven't tried purchasing physically yet.
