I have a Black & Decker corded drill bought back in 2012. Rarely used though. Now thinking to get one Bosch cordless drill. I'm not a heavy user, just getting one for normal home usage. Shortlist below:

1. Bosch GSB 18 V-EC
2. Bosch GSB 180-LI
3. Bosch GSB 18-2-LI

General home usage. Which one would you go for? Thanks

Since you already have a drill, I'd go for impact drill GSB 18 V-EC. Be careful with offer price. The website has package variations and one of them without battery and charger laugh.gif

I noticed that too. I check the official Bosch comparison page between these three but dunno why GSB 18 V-EC doesn't come with batt & charger by default.

Anyway, need to check what comes with it. Unless you want the drill only very cheap  laugh.gif

This normal shop also cheaper than your Shopee

Hi bro. Yeah, not sure whether the shopee have the same package but normally for price range of 790-880, will be getting:

1 x Cordless Drill
1 x GAL 1820 CV charger
2 x 2.0 Ah batteries
1 x Carrying box

chat before buy  smile.gif

When price too low to believe, I asked if the warranty is by local manufacturer (can go to any authorized service center) or only through their shops. I believe they will be honest to avoid from being banned. Last week I want to but something and asked. They said through their shop only, means not from authorized distributors.
*
Thanks for the tips. Will ask them again.

Btw I saw this in Lazada Bosch Page (official). The price of the same package is RM890. Safest route I guess 😁

Still more expensive than the Bosch Shop self online I g\provided, right? It listed down what are in package.

Ah ok. I missread the information at site link that you provided. I thought that one is warranty by shop also. Apologies.

By the way, I just saw GSB 180-LI and compared to GSB 18-2-LI that I currently considered. Why 180-LI is so much cheaper than 18-2-LI? From the comparison sheet, the 180-LI has higher torque and higher impact rate compared to 18-2-LI? Is there any other parameter that I should look into for comparison for these two?

I'm no expert in Bosch  laugh.gif . Just home hobbyist. Bosch has extensive lineup with confusing naming for those (like me) not working with Bosch  laugh.gif  Same product for other region can have different name too.

After looking at the product, I guess it is more to compactness and the lightness of the product. I have no dimension drawing on the 180-Li but I think the 18-2-Li is more compact drill. It is also mentioned that the 180-Li has changeable carbon brushes for easy maintenance and serviceability. Notice the carbon replacement cover on the 180-Li and I can't see one on the 18.2-Li. It is not saying that the 18-2-Li has no carbon but perhaps it is build inside the motor; meaning you replace the whole motor assembly. This keeps the size compact I believe. I still like the old fashioned replaceable carbon on the 180-Li though.

Let see if others who has extensive experience in power tool especially these Bosch tool owners has to comment on this price difference.  smile.gif

18-2 is an older model, back then semua benda packed with 18-2, butnow Bosch keluar the 180, with lower 1814 charger, and 1.5AH battery. The 1.5ah battery is significantly cheaper than the 2.0ah battery with gauge.

You mahu cheap, just get the 180, no wrong there. Rather than pay for the 18-2, might as well get the 18VEC.

I have an GSR18-2 (bukan GSB yerr), all these time ingat its inferior, big, heavy, unbalanced, but then tengok the 180...and also the newer 18V-30 BL motor, tidak jadi tukar, stick with my compact (suprisingly) 18-2.

I got the GSR18-2 with the GBH 18-LI for rm950 shipped, with 1860 and 4+2AH battery. The GSB18-2 price of RM780 is seriously mind boggling.

Oh, 18-2 is PRO range (12M Warranty), the 180 is Contractor range (6M Warranty). Bosch MY devised this weird classification...in the UK can get 3Y warranty.

Makita saja laaaa

Thank you bros for the help & detailed insights. I've settled with GSB 18V-EC.

Guys, I have a Bosch cordless GSB18 V-EC impact drill for general usage for my house but it's not able to drill through concrete. Can suggest me Bosch corded hammer drill that at least drill thru concrete? Just few cm to mount wall plug for picture frame, picture ledge, nothing heavy.

Is GBH 2-28D ok? Or overkill?

Metal no issue. But where does the metal frame mount to - concrete wall?
Concrete/AAC is best using rotary hammer (using SDS chuck).
Basic impact drill w hammer (using round drill bit) will work fine for sand/clay bricks only.
2-24 corded or GBH 180-LI Cordless Rotary Hammer else with non-rotary impact drill you will spend 5-10 min per wall plug hole
Concrete bro  whistling.gif SDS rotary hammer =/= hammer drill

Want to try something new?

Get this

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/worx-wu3...u11efirad52dcng

It is cordless. Brushless Motor. Has mode for tile drilling. Normal Drill Hammer and Chisel.

More comfortable to handle than Bosch and light weight. Easily operate single hand.

I did not own one but I tried. Drop from 2m also will not break as demonstrated by the distributor where I repair my pressure pump  laugh.gif

Just to to shop selling this and try. Price about the same as the Bosch model you interested in.  smile.gif

Thanks for the suggestion guys. Already went with GBH18V-26, because I already have 18v batteries for my GSB18 V-EC

Thank you for the article.
While this is good for general knowledge but not everything are relevant to Malaysian market.
For example, we have 3/5/many lines models, different battery system, different brands may be some are over claimed.

Or put in another way.. Any specific model to recommend?
Many hardware shops are selling China unknown brand models, anything good comparing to big brands from the German, American and Japanese?

Just want to get advice from sifus here.

I am thinking to get Bosch 18v cordless drill for home improvement/repair use.

But not often will use the drill, maybe less than 5 times a year, will there be any issue with the battery because seldom using it?

Is it still recommended to get the cordless type?
*
Hi Jack. Back in 2019, I bought a Bosch GSB 18V-50 impact drill, two 2-Ah batteries and a charger, for home use. I haven’t used much throughout the years I can tell you that the batteries hold charge just fine.

Can buy other Bosch 18v tools to utilize the battery as well.

Guys, can recommend me laser level for occasional/light home use? Plan to get either Keelat or Uni-T. Don't think I should spend more for Bosch due to my usage.

Guys, looking to purchase a heat gun for normal home usage.

Is Stanley STEL670-XD good?
https://asia.stanleytools.global/product/st.../2000w-heat-gun

Or is there any other brand/mode near the price range that I should consider? Thanks.
