Dear sifus, plan to drill a hole here to hang photo rack, as you can see tried to do it manually but failed sweat.gif

1. Looking to buy our first power tool (noob here), is GSB 180-LI enough for this job, or overkill? Min requirement cordless.

2. Any cheaper alternatives? Don't mind China Taobao stuff. But prefer something that lasts longer.

3. Going to renovate new house as well, having a set of better tools will be better?

you hammer the wall with nail?  blush.gif

18V drill (GSB 180-LI) is a good choice and will last long as it also has a multi-purpose role. it can use as a screwdriver too.

Do take note because there is no hammer function, you will need drill longer for the wall (brick) and even longer for concrete.
If you want to spend, then get a cord hammer drill and a battery drill.

Use the hammer drill to drill the wall and the battery drill to fasten the screw into the hole.

Edit
mybad, GSB 180-LI have impact function which is even better. just this will do the job.

Yeah hammer with thick nail, overestimated my ability sweat.gif

Thanks for the explanations!! Would you suggest any cheaper brand/model? Or lower end 12V ones. Just to do this particular job.

Don't think we will use it very often, might end up collecting dusts.

Update:
Got a China brand cordless drill 21V + 2 batteries (with hammer function) from local hardware shop (RM 160, shopee might be selling much cheaper but too many variations), then Bosch X33 bits, wall plugs, job done.

3M mounting tape collapsed after a day sweat.gif

Thanks a lot for the advices!!
