Anybody has encountered problem with Bosch cordless drill whereby the battery just failed to be charged (the charger light was continuous indicating rhe charging operation is not running)?

At first I thought I got a bad battery and charger, so I change to a new battery and charger. At first it was good, but few days after the battery failed to charged again. Fed up, i change to a new battery and charger.

I suspect something wrong with the drill making the battery bad because even after I change to a 3rd battery and charger, after few usages the battery cannot be charged back.

It's weird. Anybody encounter same problem with mine?

which model? does it turn freely? make sure its in gear properly (fwd/rev) n speed setting need to click properly, if halfway it may short out

It was Bosch GSB 1080-2-Li.

I have ensure the setting is correct on the fwd/rev function. It was working fine last week. Then i left unused for a week with rhe battery attached and when tried to use yesterday, it wasnt working. The battery wasnt even charging hence i conclude that the drill is making the battery faulty for some reason.

I have never had this problem and I don;t own a cordless Bosch either  laugh.gif

I can think of a possibility. I guess your drill is not brushless type. Probably due to wear and tear whatever, when the drill is off the motor stop in condition that shorted the power. Current probably not too high to operate the drill but discharged the battery overnight. Probably you need to open up the drill and clean the commutator. Not sure if your model is carbon brush replaceable type.

The Lithium battery usually has small circuit board inside the battery to cut off the power once the voltage is low at certain level. If the voltage goes below this level, it will fail to charge and deemed as useless or damaged. That is why Lithium ion battery is recommended to store at half voltage to prolong its life. and recharge when charge drops to about 20%.

As for the battery, there are video on how to revive dead Lithium ion battery on YouTube. Google for it.

I'll try to google it bro. Thanks.

Lithium battery have and need bms board to avoid overcharge and over discharge.

I am not sure how the current bosch bms function but for your case, just remove the battery from the drill during storage.

Btw you can diy replace the internal battery. Just use high discharge 18650 battery. About RM20 for a battery.

Im sorry but what is bms?
