Hi all sifu,

Planning to buy a rotary hammer for drilling mainly to install water heater, curtain rails, hooks cloth hanger, etc.... for hotel use.

Looking for 26mm, so far my choice limited to :
1. Stanley SHR263KA = RM 400
2. Hitachi DH26PC = RM 500

Almost want to click to buy Stanley, what other recommendation? Bosch 26mm is quite expensive.

Hi all,
Need your expert suggestion.

I want to get a impact driller to perform some simple DIY tasks for my home e.g. install lack/wall mounted cabinet/curtain track/kitchen & bathroom appliances which need drilling. My budget range is between RM200-300. Any suggestion?

There are too many choices in the market and I have no knowledge to choose the right one for me. Your suggestion is much appreciated. Thank you.

You will need a rotary hammer and not impact drill to drill concrete, tiles etc.
Depends on your budget for home DIYer.

Grade A & B - Bosch, Makita, Dewalt, Hitachi (from RM 450 up)
Grade C : Stanley, MAX etc (from RM 350 up)
Grade D : China's brand - DCA, DongCheng (from RM 220 up)
Grade E : other China's brand (from RM 150 up)

I would suggest you to get Grade C or D, choose the 24mm capability will suffice.

The original cell must able to draw high amp. Which is more expensive.

Cloned wan normally lower amp and use normal cell. Sure cheaper.

I have such an experience with power bank and laptop battery. Where the board spoil. But the battery cell is fine.

And all the clone battery are not up to the capacity spec on the label. I rip off such battery and test their capacity.

So the cheap clone battery don't expecting same Ah.

This battery, many vapers have good knowledge about battery.

Recommend 18650 battery :
Sony VTC 4/5/6
Samsung 25R/30Q
LG HG2

Hitachi DH26PC 830w 26mm 3.2J?

Thanks, for the recommendations hitachi looks good on paper, but it dont have the drill depth guide? or anywhere i can attach it?

EDIT: nvm i saw the photos for it thanks!

Hitachi will be the best choice now. Stanley quality drop a lot according to my hardware stores friends.

As for me, any of them will do as long you don't use it continuous for 3 hours or 100 holes in a day. Bosch, Hilti, Makita, Hitachi, Dewalt etc able to last longer longer. Stanley is in between DongCheng/DCA vs contractors' brand.

Answer : None

Get a rotary hammer 22mm or 24mm would suffice.
Can buy China made cheap cheap around RM 210-250 such as below

Lever 2-24

Or if you want branded

Thanks for the recommendations!
For the China brand, is the bit easily find and replaceable? Can drill tiles too i believe?
*
I have been using China's brand for 6 years, no problem so far. Can drill hole thru tiles and concrete. Mainly for home DIY, probably max 10 holes per day and few times a year.

Buyers should know, it is not for heavy duty and dont use for whole day like drilling 50 holes per day because it cannot tahan prolong heat. If you know its limit, can last many years.

thanks for the suggestion!
bought myself a China made rotary hammer drill from DIY shop, and also a SDS hammer bit.

no issue drilling hole in the concrete, but not sure how to drill on a tile.
i used only the drilling mode and at slow speed at the beginning, tile has no crack but the hole seems is very shallow.. unsure if i was doing it right..
*
When drilling hole into tiles :
1) Set to drill only mode (if you're expert enough, set minimum hammer mode)
2) Drill slowly and check the hole
3) When the drill fully punch in a hole in tiles, increase a little hammer mode (for some model) or you can adjust/press the power 50-60% to make sure no full hammer mode
3) Never set full hammer/rotary mode in tiles and NO full power all the way, tiles will break

Plan to drill thru the sink at the corner to install the water filter tap.

Can any sifu advise me what drill and what drill bit to use?
Sorry, newbie here.

Can normal brick wall drill bit do the work?

planning to DIY this installation. Especially less confident with the hole at the sink.

See 2:27 video below:

below is something i want to achieve:

I guess the drill bit depends on type of table top. Marble, tiles, etc?

I am planning to buy Bosch GBH 2-24 DRE rotary hammer. Main use will be drilling small holes on concrete wall. However, there are times where I will need to drill through the small gaps between tiles, or even drilling tiny holes on a tile in kitchen and bathroom. Is that Bosch suitable for these jobs?

The Bosch GBH 2-24 DRE rotary hammer is good even for contractor. If you are only home use, any rotary hammer will suffice. Drilling hole with hammer mode, standard use 6mm sds drill bit and screw M4 (eh. 4mm x 20mm)
To drill hole into tiles, you need to use drill mode only until penetrate the tiles, then use hammer & drill mode. If you are pro and able to control speed & force, then hammer mode all the way. Press minimum hammer mode until hole tile is penetrated and the drill brick using mid-power. I seldom use full press power in tiles
