how to check what material the drill bits sold in hardware shop are made of?

Diamond/Carbide/Mansory?

I look at Bosch and other brands of drill bits, they don't state which type.

Only thing they state other than size is the type of surface (concrete/metal/multi).

I'm looking at both Diamond for slow & sharp drilling on tiles and Mansory for general concrete. How do i choose the right bit?

also anyone know where can get Special Tool for making square hole for power sockets? They call it Box Sinker.

and how much is the hole maker for downlight on plaster ceiling? the one you use with drill can cut the hole very accurate and fast.

Normal L box only. But I see the price is cheaper.

Today go CT brought some dremel accessory. Price also cheaper than online.

CT only 6min from my home. smile.gif

got a dong ffeng grinder.

is it normal that the blade is only secured with the top screw in piece and there's no slot for the blade to sit in like a drill does?

Of course la. They won't layan you with email/tel. Afraid of competitor knowing their price.

Too bad you're in Sarawak.

competitors knows your price la, no way you can hide. maybe the seller from Sabah won't know the pricing in KL but doesn't really mean much even if they do.

what they don't know is their margin. some buy more stock thus they get more discounts, so if you small shop try to match their pricing your margin will be lower or not making money at all.

also older shops have advantage of accumulating wealth for decades & probably owns the shoplot thus when inflation is high, they can afford to make smaller profit margin. new shops, baru renovate and all the cost they need to recoup naturally their pricing will be higher than old shops. also location will affect the pricing.

online price like Lazada/11street will be higher due to surcharge but sellers selling directly from their own website will reflect their true pricing. knowing their online price helps you get better price when you walk in as you know which shop sell what cheaper.

also, most shop don't list everything online, while some shops don't have ready stock for the item you saw online, maybe Branch A got stock B out of stock they need to shuffle.

What grinder is that using blade ?

dong cheng. i google some grinder have that center piece so the blade aligns at the center. but the main force keeping the blade in position is the clamping force of the top screw in cover?

1 PVC wall plug should be around 1~2kg (MAX) only, you should monitor closely on weight applied.

For the TV, metal wall plug is strong enough to hold the cabinet and TV. M8 wall plug can hold at least 10~20kg each.
*
so for holding pendant light around maybe 5kg what type of wall plug is required (for concrete ceiling & also plaster ceiling)?

what about short T5 casing on concrete? these plastic plug good enough (4 plugs)?

those metal ones, once you turn the bolt, can you still remove the attachment in future and reuse the bolt again or need to drill new holes and put new plugs?

Metal pendant light approx 3~5kg, normally 3~4 1.5" PVC wall plug on concrete ceiling is good enough. For plaster ceiling, you'll need to look for the metal supports, 4~5 self tapping screw on the metal support should be enough. Else, use 2 stud bolts anchored to the upper concrete and hang your light.

For metal one, it's too hard to be removed. Making new holes is much faster and worthwhile.

hi, i only know plug based on drill bit size 3~4 is equivalent to how many mm diameter?

regarding the metal ones, say if it's used to install something, later want to remove that item is it easy to take out the item. i don't mean remove the whole plug from hole as when you turn the bolt the metal plug already distorted in shape. but i mean reuse the same plug in the same position after removing old item. based on what i understand metal plugs you have to insert the item mounting before inserting the plug into the hole versus normal plug after insert plug then insert mounting + screws.
